hi all, another P535 user reports in. Just bought it last Friday. Everything looks fine except the battery due to my high usage playing with GPS and Wifi.

Just wonder if there is any application that I can install in order to show Chinese Lunar Calendar?

i found that P535's camera quality not really good leh... and the shutter is very hard to press and it makes the photo blur....

how to solve this problem? thanks

You must be joking biggrin.gif ...P535 picture quality is one of the best & even better than Dopod/HTC PDA phone or even those SonyEricson phone....U need to press 1/2way to allow auto focus & once PQ crystal clear snap.
*
I concur with stimix. The P535 has the best camera I've seen in a WM powered device. Having AF on it really helps a lot!

Hmm... but comparing it to a Sony Ericsson is kinda off track if you know what I mean. tongue.gif It's actually a lot better on most of the SE phones. smile.gif

Has it been like that since you got your unit?

Or is it a recent occurrence?

If it's the latter, might be something you installed recently which caused the hanging problem.

I also facing same problem hang but one day 2 to 3 times, I am not sure is it because of new software that I install or because of WM6. I try to remove some software but still not 100% stable. One of reason I think is alarm, because I set my alarm 7am everyday. Everyday I wakeup my 535 is hang (I can see green light but no respond if I click any button). Sometime hang when I run more than one application. Some time hang just like that.

I still have 26M about 50% free on my memory and 1600M free on MiniSD CPU mode Auto.

Any suggestion?

Thanks

If I do hard reset by going to system>default setting all install software will be deleted right?

I don't care about all software but I need mapking and GPS software only. Can I backup it or I can download full one from the net? Or is it provided by ASUA website?

Thanks

When a system crash...no choice..really have to hard reset. sad.gif ..yes u lost everthing except the core windows CE and ASUS package softwares such as biz card reader, GPS driver, voice recogniser & etc. But too bad Mapping softwares (Not GPS driver) will be deleted too i.e ur Mapking or Garmin Que.

The Mapking is FOC anyway & comes wth provided CD so installing & re-keying ur license key should not be a problem...Garmin Que & GPS proxy..u hv to re-setup again....Thats' are the 2 important software u need.

BTW, I hv been hard resetting P535 numerous time...yes u might need atleast 1-2 hours to get important softwares installed..well for faster operation why not..another important thing to do after hard resetting & installing core softwares: PLS backup themoment u got it rite!...and subsequent to this u can even hard reste every few weeks & keep on uploading ur backup file & that's very fast..only 15min... biggrin.gif

Same-lah..(dun hv active sync now) but roughtly..goto some of the top part of the available icon and look for "remove program" doing in PDA is much faster & easier...but I still find hard reset is the best way. bcos removing a program also will leave certain registry inside the PDA & if that's the corrupt registry..it will still slow down the pda...just like PC...u remove certain intalled games from ur PC but certain registry key is still remained in the main registry & the more ur uninstalled those games/programmes the more slower is ur PC

for those having those hang problem........i suspect that you are having the classic case of running out of ram if you are new to WM

so, before you actually uninstall your programs.......try this remedy first to see if it works.....

1. try to clear your ram every now and then ....... if you go to your start>settings>system>memory>running programs -------- see if you have lots of the programs running in background, if yes then stop all those programs.......the program does not close like desktop program when you click the "X", it just minimizes them......thus causing you to hav low ram and most often than not, the main culprit for hanging systems.....

2. if the method above still does not reduces your hand experience, then its probably the 3rd party software that you need to uninstall.....

3. you might want to install a program that will close the program instead of minimizing it when you press "X"

p/s - i have been monitoring my ram and will close those program that I don't need and I have never face a hang before ever since I bought this unit 10 months ago........

just something that I would like to share with new users........

if can...try to get software like spb pocket plus which allow u to safe booting ur pda...then u can try to uninstall some software that jam up during start up..it hapeen to me as well when i install ce-star on the pda...then some software seem to be crashed during start up..

always have ur email and pim backup from day to day...so eventhough u need to do hard reset..u stil able to restore back ur contacts and smses..

The adjust Ram feature is available on old Window mobile i.e b4 WM2005. My old HP6515 (WM2003) has that feature..but it is useless...it's auto adjust bck to actual after a while.

Since u dun installed any major programmes, just hard reset it & keep the PDA running on essential softwares..& it is good to soft reset, close all programs (I'm using Oxios Close App & also Clear Temp program )on daily basis

Definitely the none Asus sanctioned programmes will be deleted..It is good actually..& u can reinstalled back in Mini SD card instead of main memory,,bcos seeing ur available free space I think u installed most of ur programmes in main memory..U should hv installed all ur programmes in mini SD instead of main memory..This definitely slow down the overall PDA speed & possible cause of crash too....Most of my programmes are in Mini SD & I only installed GPS proxy & Garmin Que in Main memory....That also I regretted..thinking of hard reset & reinstall all again to mini SD....

FYI my frre space is 80mb..if I take-out Garmin Que & GPS proxy..I probably getting 100MB free space!

jc79...i think the main culprit that cause ur p535 to hang is the ce-star..wat version r u using?..

i have this ce-star installed and then at the same time i have spb mobile shell and pocket plus running..evtime when my spb backup finish run and restart the pda...it will hang at the today screen...at the end i have to uninstall this ce-star and evthing back to normal..no more hang..

i did try monster sip by maction..still same..it will hang the pda as well...as i know..my bro-in law using p525...he has this asus chinese font patch which after he patch the wm5 then can read chinese font edi..i try to patch on my p535..can read chinese font but still my pda will hang whenever restart sad.gif
