All PDA phones are por in batt life compare wth normal h/phone. It also depend on the chipset speed..the higher speed the more is the consumption.

For a normal standby time (For all PDA phone wth GPS), u will get about 2-2.5 days w/out call/GPS/BT..Wth BT & few calls/day it will last about 1-1.5days. BUT if u r on GPS the battery will drained within 2 hours!!!

Thus, ppl who invest in GPS phoen or BT GPSr, It is important to get a car charger...

Anymore review on this phone? such as abilities of getting accessories, extra batteries & etc......I'm seriously looking to upgrade my HP6515 to P535 now..

OK tester...Just got my old HP6515 upgraded to Asus P535 Yesterday after selling off to another LYN member here...

Happy wth the speed & extra mobility not available in HP6515...WIFI...

Installed succesfully Mapking & also Garmin Que but hv not test yet....phewww..till 2am yesterday...

So far so good but I was having problem installing GPS proxy Yesterday..Was wondering why proxy can't start until I read the old thread in malsingmaps pertaining to the old 2.2a version wth its baud rate problem. Downloaded and it's run perfectly....acquisition of satelite signal is good but I'm still not satisfied wth the accuracy via GPS proxy getting 6M-8M whereas I'm getting 4.0M to 6M using HP6515!!!

Hmnnn probably the Globallocate chip in HP6515 is more superior than SirfIII chipset in P525... ..will try to record the track for comparison......

Another thing I like about this is ASUS gave few nice spb tools and one of it is the spb phone which is damn cool compare to the default WM phone ..It comes wth hand free too which WM dun hv. Voice caller also cool but always call wrong guy probably due to my slang!...Hv not tried the namecard scanner...probably later.

In term of speed (My most imporatnt facture of upgrading) suprisingly only improve abit...this means the WM2003 running on a slower speed of 312MHZ is actually not bad liow (Even DopodD810 is abit slow compare to HP6515). The only thing lacking in HP6515 is the square screen, no WIFI, lousy camera, lousy phone function (unless upgrade to spb $$)....

So preliminary conclusion is yes it is faster but abit better. but the most important function for me is GPS..worry of the accuracy of the signal...

OK...I hv done 3 days of extensive testing on the GPS signal accuracy between HP6515 & P535. (Both using ext antenna)

For HP6515 the accuracy data showed better result than P535 i.e avg 4M-5.7M compare to Avg of 6.8M to 7.9M on P535.

However when I plotted the so caled better accuracy data of HP6515 compare to P535...The results are totally opposite!! i.e on P535, the line & curve of my collected track is superb & almost perfect or in malsingmaps term ..."golden track" but on HP6515..the track is a bit jagged and occasionally jumped especially when the accuracy dropped to >8M at certain time.

So getting to like this sirfIII chip liow....atlast I'm achieving golden track quality....who care about the accuracy data... ...Hmnnnn to think of it the accuracy data between 1 machine to another is inaccurate...

Another thing noted was, P535 see more satelites comapre to HP6515 i.e on avg about 12 in P535 compare to 8 in HP

BTW, I bot mine also at RM2388 wth 2Gb & screen protector...That was the best price after surveying the whole Lowyat!! ..Abit worry on the 2nd hand value if distributor keep on dropping the price... ..Infact saw a 2nd hand unit w/out complete set selling at only RM1700 recently!!

I think WM5 only can sync wth old window XP. Currently there are lotsa problems for those migrating to Vista bcos lotsa softwares are still at the olf XP platform. In order to sync wth Vista, u need to upgrade to WM6 (Or so called Vista Mobile) which I think will be available free from ASUS this coming July.

That is why I'm abit worry on the 2nd value of this unit....probably won't be as good as Dopod or O2

The one right at the entrance of the Hanphone floor....gg mobile (?) but using the inv of "Phone to Phone s/b" & charged via UTNT Mobile access s/b..Apparently I was told that there are only few bosses (less than 5 controlling all the stores selling h/phones & PDA at LYP!!)..The salesman told me they have 6 branches surrounding LYP having diff names but owned by same boss!! Infact the ground floor HP centre belongs to the same group!!

Hehe...phone, PDA function are secondary to me-lah.....GPS & the speed to ensure accurate tracking is important too me-lah (my hobby of collecting track to be mapped by malsingmaps mappers ..weird for certain huh. ..)....+ Wifi too & as time goes I might want to get a 3.5G or even the WIMAX...so possible upgrade cannot be discounted... & 2nd value somehow or rather important too...

By the time I want to sell it u probably think twice coz there are better GPS PDA in the market wth speed exceeding 624Mhz & probably new battery developed allowing higher speed PDA to last longer...

The extenna antenna oledi wth me since last year, used it extensively for tracking & contributing my tracklogs to mappers. Actually I got it free from one of the mapper after realising that my earlier tracks were so inaccurate & keeps on jumping & jagged.

U can get the antenna from the Garmin shop located at the entrance of Digital Mall Sek 14, PJ....look for Kelvin...


Bro Sony....just joking-lah...but probably true when found a better speed PDA in future.. ...Not as so "ken" as bro Tester changing phone every 6mths

Actually in addition to the ext antenna, I also bought a re-radiating unit (i.e a unit to amplify the signal from the ext ant and re-radiate it wireless to the GPSr)...So I dun really connect directly to the GPS socket. Another reason is because the connector is diff from what P535 has (probably mini mcx rather than mcx ext antenna)

The price of the antenna ranging from as cheap as RM80 to RM120 & the re-radiating unit cost about Rm120..U can get this from PC mobile

Do we really need an ext antenna - Well if u really serious about tracking especially tracking new roads for the purpose of mapping, then it is a YES. The accuracy of data is much better if u hv an ext ant rather than none. For eg..reading of accuracy w/out ext ant inside a tinted car = 8M-15M but once u hooked up, the accuracy improved to 6M to 8M (This is on P535)....But for normal navigation, ext antenna is not necessary unless ur car if tinted wth Vcool. U probably got "Lost satelite signal once in a while w/out ext antenna

I dun think there are any generic connector in the market yet, If u visit PC-mobile site u can see that there are 3 types of connector i.e MCX, Mini MCX and BNC....dun ask me I also dunno what are these convention..Anyway, I'm interested of getting an adaptor for my MCX type antenna to be connected directly rather than rediating (More powerful..I think...)..Awaiting their reply to check what socket is P535 using...

Yes I called them also this Morning tillnow they did not call me bck at all. I have also Email to ASUS asia pacific SC..and Got a reply that they will come bck to me within 48hours.....Chances is they developed the GPS phone & include the unconventional socket but yet dun have any ext antenna as standard accesory..

BTW, how much & where to get the cover huh..probably missed your earlier postings...

& Is there any GPS Camera function as those in Dopod D810 & HP6965??...can't find any menu to activate GPS on the camera...so that the coordinate appeared on the captured photo.

Ouch..so pricy one-ah ...Yes I;m using Capdase or something on my ex-hp6515...Given the RM80 case FOC once I sold the unit last week...So probably hv to look for another leather case-liow...

NO GPS camera huh sad indeed..but small matter only-lah..pros & cons of diff PDAs...

You can find the GPS antenna connector on the back of the P535. Pick the rubber case, then there will be GPS antenna connector port available. You can use the antenna meet MMCX protocol. The antenna will be active aautomatically.
We have no such accessories available , sorry for any inconvenience .

So it is mmcx type of socket..so can go shopping either at malsingmaps or pc-mobile liow... ..for me an adaptor will do...

Yeah..that's why I seldom use the leather case on my ex-hp6515...furthermore looks & feels bulky & thick...Wth silicaon, I can just ignore d clip & slip inside my pocket ...Hmnnn if PDA expert selling at RM45...probably OEM shop outside selling at RM10 ..hehe just joking

Huh...all ur comment put me in dilema whether is it necessary to get....as what been said probably new..but when >6mth will go naked.....So probably I will save the Rm45 and prefer go naked ho??
