wow, really? 170k to 120k. so how bout jetta? tongue.gif
for me jetta looks attractive than passat. unless for passat cc.
normal passat not much hp just higher torque at lower rpm thus feel more pickup.
*
The 116k is for the 2015 Passat. They also have 2014 Passats which are going for 109k but limited colours, mostly white.

The Jettas are all 2014 stock and are going for rm89k. I think it comes with some bodykit..based on what i saw at the showroom.

My company had 3 Jettas as company cars...we sold it off after 3 years..non-stop headaches. One even had its engine block changed bcoz of cylinder compression problem. But Jettas are very powerful..really gives you kick...abou the same output as the Passat but the Jettas twin-charged engines are really good. Just that its not so reliable. I think VW are gonna stop producing those twin charged engines.

Wah Liao off topic LOL

no problem with braking power, it is very consistent, only the brake pedal press and depress that time doesn't feel smooth, yes i tested them on smooth road
i'm okay with m3 interior since i'm moving from a smaller car (1st gen vios facelift), maybe the rear passenger search is a bit cramp, my seating position is usually closer to steering, so if the passenger is not overweight then he/she should have no problem fitting in rear passenger seat laugh.gif

what i dont like about m3 interior is the lack of compartment, the cup holder is not at a comfortable position for me to take my bottle while i'm driving

i sat on passat before, the sudden acceleration and DSG shifting speed is amazing, but after so many negative reviews for their gearbox failure, i can say it is a risk to get VW with DSG gearbox, if you wanna get a VW you might want to ask the SA to reserve a nice parking spot for you in SC there laugh.gif
*
Hmm for me, the pedal feels a bit soft initially but brakes firmly as I press further.

Yeah, agree with the lack of compartments. My arm can't get in a good angle to retrieve my smart tag and keys from the centre console box. Glovebox is nice and deep but also makes it hard for me to lean over and get stuff while on the move.

If I recall correctly, the VW promotion is to clear old stock. Some of the cars are from 2014.

For Mazda, you can talk to lucifal. Great guy.
*
Yes correct...its to clear their stocks..2014 and 2015. They're getting ready to launch the new Passat..think its 2nd qtr 2016.

Hey guys, any idea when the facelifted Mazda 3 will be launched here ? Since most of Mazda's current line-up has been facelifted, wondering if its wise to wait for the facelift version.

For short-term car owner can go for VW,  laugh.gif
I never owned a VW nor friend. Can't comment much. But from your previous car and the type of car you're testing, I think VW suite you? Seem like you like fast car. lol
*
i like fast cars, but at the same time i dont want a car that will burn a hole in my wallet, i didnt actually drive a passat before, just sat in rear seat and experience some pedal flooring action

i like cars that give sporty look

vios is not fast car la, but is damn fuel savings thumbup.gif

QUOTE(Rubz77 @ Mar 21 2016, 11:14 AM)
True the rear passenger space is a little cramp...i'm comparing against the inspira. Anyway, I hardly have rear passengers...most of the time the front passenger seat is only occupied.

Somehow i felt the sound system in the Mazda 3 (6 speakers) to be better than the Passat (8 speakers)..to my ears lah. I always have music on when driving...so its one of the criteria that i look for in a car. If only the High Spec comes with Bose..wishful thinking  tongue.gif
*
sound system is not my priority, as long as got bluetooth or AUX then is enough for me already icon_rolleyes.gif

for the braking power, i noticed the rear of the car doesn't lift up when doing hard/emergency brake, good chassis design which is different from other cars

Ouch, was shocked at first when i see the pricing it stated at 350 only.

but when i looked at the flyer  dry.gif  sad.gif
*
RM350 ECU Activation Fee
+
(Estimate) RM444.05 Cruise Control Panel + Wire from Service Centre Pricing
+
(Estimate) RM80~100 for Cruise Panel Installation Fee at the workshops mentioned above

You can get some savings by sourcing the panels from Taobao, eBay, or AliExpress, meanwhile you can also get the paddle shifters and install together. GLS Auto and Angsana Max Automart in KL and Danny Chan in JB knows how to do installation for cruise control panel and paddle shifters, as far as I know of.

I believe RM850 for OEM cruise control solution is quite reasonable already. Aftermarkets cruise control such as Pivot (JP), Rostra (USA), Autostrada (AUS), etc. already cost more than RM1k just for hardware alone. smile.gif

Considering how the facelifted Mazda 2 increased in price the same may happen to the facelifted Mazda 3 also.

Mazda 2 "Facelift" is not a proper facelift, it is just adding back the LED headlamp, which is an original aesthetic feature, and it is supposed to be there since day 1. In another words, Mazda 3 GL halogen headlamp vs. Mazda 3 CKD High Spec bi-xenon headlamp.

some leak shows that facelifted m3 will comes with electric handbrake, new fog lamp and steering wheel design.
which I think not worth the wait. smile.gif

The discount for current Mazda 3 is worth more than the three known FL new items to date, IMHO. Let Bermaz reveal more things first.

Yea...1.8 Turbo...160bhp with 250nm torque.

It's the smooth power delivery with the quick shifting DSG that impresses and also the solid ride it gives. Well that's how D-segment contis are.

It looks dated lah..very 'uncle' looking but still better looking than the Camry...hahaha. Passat is a good family car i would say.
*
Yes, a very nice family car, quiet and solid ride and some more got rear aircond vents, just that the key not so "advanced". For the current price for a 2015 car, the passat is a real steal...would have genuinely consider it if not for the purchase of my mazda 3 much earlier. Well, all is still well and I still like driving the mazda 3 rclxms.gif

I also was once an owner of the 1st vios, I agree that it is a fuel saving car but the mazda 3 is not a slouch on this aspect either. I'm driving harder and faster with the Mazda but I'm getting close to 90% of the fuel economy of my old faithful vios. Do take note that the Mazda3 has a larger capacity engine, heavier body and larger wheels. If I drive like the pace of the vios, I will handily beat the fuel economy thumbsup.gif

I'm driving HS, around 14+ to 15km/L is what I'm getting. Shell V Power Racing gives me additional 2-3% (about 20+km) more per tank.

i start to wonder if the i-stop really contribute a lot in fuel savings, let's say in a whole trip my idle time is 5 mins and i-stop is 2 mins, i only managed to saved like 1-2km according to the display from CMU

now this is my 2nd tank and the total mileage saved from i-stop is merely 8km, but the battery that support start-stop function cost around RM600 as compare to normal maintenance-free battery that only cost around RM400 given the same capacity without start-stop support

what you all think? if next time you change the battery will you still use back battery with start-stop support? hmm.gif
