Hi all the sifus here. I am currently plan to setup my 1st HT system. Need your advise here.

For a start, intend to setup a 2.0 first, thus intend to get Elac b6.
Then may add a subwoofer (interested at SVS) later to make it 2.1.
Currently no plan to go for 5.1 cos don't want the trouble with the wiring for the surround speakers, but this may change if I want it in future upgrade.

Currently interested at Yamaha RX-V581 or v681.
Am aiming at RX-A760 as well, but compared to V681, their power rating of 90W/ch is quite similar. Is it worth to spend more to go for A760 ? Any major advantage of A760 over V681 ?
Which model is more suitable for my requirement ?

Hope to get this done in this year end.
Thanks in advance.

The A760 has almost the same hardware internally as the v681. The only difference is that the A760 comes with a fifth foot (lmao), 5-way binding post for all speaker outputs (v681 only has it on the LCR + RL/RR) and the power cable is detachable.

So no, there are zero major advantages. Get the v681.

If you want an Aventage, step up to at least the A860 so you can make use of a more advanced YPAO (with R.S.C) and have pre-outs of which you can connect to an external amp in the future.

Hi sifus,
Finally my >15 yrs old AV receiver stopped working.
Sony STR-DB930

I have a pair of Mordaunt Short MS10i as front, B&W CC3 center, and a pair of MS10 as surround.

What is a decent AV receiver below rm2k? Here are my preferred features:
1. Binding posts connections (at least for front RL)
2. USB port on front panel for music playback
3. Optical input for my old tv
4. Coaxial input for old DVD player
5. Wireless BT for the occasional music streamed from phone, or video from kid's tablet
6. Spotify network features would be nice for the missus

I looked online (I am located in Penang) and see a deal on a local shop:
1. Denon AVR-X1200W rm1799
2. Onkyo TX-NR545 rm1899
Having read Onkyo & Pioneer reliability issues in this thread, probably will rule out Onkyo.

Any Sony, Yamaha, Marantz in the same price range or better value?

how much do you like sony sound? kl sony center got sell 7.1 receiver but price forgotten (was it 2.5k ?)
i quite like it too

for audyssey sound by denon and marantz, easily tuned for multiple seats.
pioneer avr is *quite* terrible in music playback which i took half yr to try adjust until give up.
yamaha rxv no kickz

*this year self experienced denon x2200w (not ur model) kena 1 case d.o.a. right after install. shop owner very steady, he replace a new unit no need wait for warranty.
so make sure the amp you buy is local distributor dynamic acoustic s/b

Thanks for your advice ktek.
I am located up North, so going KL to survey for AV receiver is too far.

By the way, I am also looking to replace my MS10i as one speaker's binding posts were previously damaged after my kid tripped the speaker (which was on stand). I have since changed to a hanging tv cabinet, and the front speakers sit on it.

I see online shop selling Q Acoustics Q2020i at rm899 per pair.
I wonder how the sound will be like if paired to Denon X1200W?
