need opinion from you guys

which is better, spreading the as5 thin or just put a small drop inthe middle and squish it wit hsf??

i just did spring cleaning on my mobo, took everything out and off. i cleaned off the old as5 wit goo gone then wiped off with alcohol. so far the temp isn't high for my cpu (since i downclock to let the new as5 settle in) but my nb is still quite hot, at 50C. and that's using the new forcetake that i got recently

any help guys??

Grab a chipset cooler for ur DFI chipset as well...

it has been well known that NF4 is hot chip .. many owner grab after market cooler like everrcool cooler to cool it ...

it's up to u how the thermal paste should be spread. i have coem over with three methods but seems to be working similar..

1st spread a small amount in the center and let the pressure from the heat sink to work it out.

2nd spread a small amount to the center. use a smooth surface plastic bag to wrap around the finger and even the tehrmal paste with the wrapped finger.

3rd spread a small amount in a square shape in the center and use a plastic card to spread evenly accross the CPU.

actually i am using after-market cooler, amongst the best tongue.gif

JT-006 Forcetake

using plastic card is more harder than it seems. before this i used to wrap my finger in plastic and use that to spread evenly. but now i just put a drop and use hsf to spread it tongue.gif

hahahah .. .tha's why i still using the plastic card methd until now ..

difficult but easier to control the thickness level and coverage...

in general i don't think there's any difference regardless which method but i don't like the finger wrapping method the most as doing the spreading process with finger .. dust and air bubble might created during the process..

Yes, you are in the wrong thread.
You should ask this question in the watercooling guides & tips.

Anyway, yerp, Danger Den's okay la, much much better if you want to compare it with Thermaltake, Coolermaster & Gigabyte waterblock. laugh.gif

Guys, need some help here..

Just now, i took out the Zerotherm cooler from my 7300GT and does some clean up. Then, i reapplied new TIM (previously AS5) with the TR Chill Factor. After that, i reboot my computer and realised that my current GC temperature is at a crazy 66c. Previously, it was just at 50c with AS5 and Zerotherm. What might be the problem here?

Well, i just took out the HSF again, wipe off the TR Chill Factor and reapplied it with AS5. Reboot and to my surprise, it is at 47c now. rclxub.gif Weird though..

This is the way i do when i reapply the TIM:

- Take out the HSF
- Use Arctic Cleaner to wipe off the TIM and purify the surface
- Apply the TIM (Use rice grain for AS5 and apply on whole surface for TR Chill Factor
- Apply back the HSF

Is there anything wrong there?

Ok guys, i got a weird problem here. My gf's laptop used to be running very hot. I mean, when i put the laptop to a chair for about 15-20min and take it out, you could really feel the heat at the chair. However, i didnt really test the temperature at that time.

Anyway, we went and get another piece of 1g ram for the laptop (previously running at 256MB) as well as a laptop cooler (Zalman NC-1000) yesterday in order to help decrease the temperature. When she on the laptop without using the cooler (inserted the 1g ram), put onto a chair for about 1hour, the chair aint that hot. I mean, the heat produced is less already compared to last time where you could really feel the heat produced.

Then, i installed PC Wizard to test the temperature and its just showing 36c. What might be the problem before?Cause i am pretty sure it must be running higher than 36c even when turn on for 15min.Could adding a ram help the problem?

And when the laptop cooler was used, it drop the temperature to a mere 30-31c. Great buy there..lol...

The laptop spec:

Pentium M 1.3Ghz
256MB DDR233 (Upgraded with another 1G)
