kk. I will try this in the weekend and if there's any prob i will seek u all again smile.gif i also think should be the thermal paste prob, becos it use stock thermal paste. Normally the temp is how much for a e6300 clocked to 2.8ghz? I mean normally la, just rough figure for me to know.

question: i'm using intel pentium D 820,is 70+ C degrees too high?looks really unnormal to me.pls advise.using original intel CPU fan.
*
If using Intel stock cooler, 70+C is normal but is advisable to buy an after market HSF to cool it down... the maximum temp for Pentium D 820 should not more than 63C and I read from somewhere that for Pentium D, the mobo normally will read the temp higher than actual, but it doesn't mean you are safe with your high temp...so buy a good cooler will be better...

You can try Noctua NH-12F if you can afford RM200 for the cooler, or RM170 for NH-12 (without fan)...if you can't afford, you can refer to this thread for your budget HSF... biggrin.gif

I took out my stock HSF cleaned dust and mount it back that day. Then problem comes, it automatically shuted down after like 30 seconds of running. I manage to enter BIOS for few sec, I saw wow the proc temp jump sky high. Start from 50C then 80C then 90C then 102C then pops shuted down.
So scared I fried my proc. cry.gif
*
Have you try to remount your HSF like I told you? Last time when I just brought my Pentium D 820, I facing about the same problem, it will auto shut down after running for about 30 seconds to 1 minutes...then when I check it back, it is due to the 1 of the push pin jump out, so it have very bad contact between IHS and HSF...maybe you can try to check whether your push pin is in or not... hope this help a bit... icon_rolleyes.gif

Yeah, for your budget, Hyper TX will be good enough to cool down your e6300... soulfly get quite nice result using the Hyper TX...but of course the casing uses and the air flow of your casing will bring different result lar... icon_rolleyes.gif

casing should not be a problem because i using CM Elite 331, is a case the full of wind, hehe brows.gif  brows.gif

the only problem is the cpu temp, cause i going for overclock to make a better performance, but now looks like it been slowing down when overheated, will be hang then ok then hang then ok
*
Then that is good lor...get yourself the Hyper TX, only RM135 from Moderno IIRC...lower than your budget...should be able to cooldown it even when OC... icon_rolleyes.gif

hrmm. my X2 3600+ @ 2.5ghz runs at ~35c on idle and ~72c on load.

i was like WTH!?!?!? idle and load also almost 40c apart ah?

oh well, i just installed my X2 unit and tested it this morning. biggrin.gif just can't believe the temperature gap, usually i see idle and load like only 20c apart.
*
wow...different 37C...my Pentium D 820 @ 2.8GHz have 20C different I already very upset liao...to think your got that big gap... doh.gif try to reinstall the HS...see got improve or not... icon_rolleyes.gif

i rest assure you the heatsink don't have big gap, or else it wouldn't stay at 36c in the first place. biggrin.gif

I am not saying your heatsink have big gap lar... doh.gif I am talking about your temp... sweat.gif like you say in previous post, 37C is a big gap for the Idle and load temp... icon_idea.gif

k k sorry. biggrin.gif misinterpret the message.

yes. very big gap.

now i on air-con, idle is 26c - 28c while load is around 63c - 65c

yeah, comes to about 37c also. my A64 also show only 20c gap.

oh well.....
*
nvm...sometime I misinterpret too... tongue.gif

You using stock cooler or 3rd party cooler? or the x2 is extreme hot when load... doh.gif

well i aggree on the stupid push pins..

use 1/2 grain rice size - meaning 1 line of 1/2 grain rice size .. or just 1/2 grain rice size (sikit giler) of AS5 paste?

I reseat the hsf.. applying 1/2 grain AS5 ..

Current coretemp:

44/42 Idle
*
What HS you use? stock Intel HS? If using stock HS, 44/42C should be normal gua...I am not too sure...they can get 30C to 40C mostly I think is use after market HS... icon_rolleyes.gif

Wow your temps are really high..suggest you reapply thermal paste to your proc...coz pentium d's especially the 8xx series will start to thermal throttle around 60C...which means less performance from the proc....
*
ya, that true...I don't know other mobo can or not, but mine can disable the throttle thingy...

@deto-master
my Pentium D 820 higher load also only 67C nia...and idle at 44C-47C depend on weather... icon_rolleyes.gif btw, I am using Noctua NH-U12F... thumbup.gif

Yes but the TDP for 830 and above is 130W, 820 is 95W, thats the problem.

Anyways a Noctua will be sweet on the 840, best to take that as a value-performance hsf...

ic...I never know that...or can say I never want to know that...haha...eldom goto check those spec.. tongue.gif

Correction: its not thermal pad rather thermal compound. Is it better to scrap that off and apply AS5?

If so.. whats the best way to take the compound off without really damaging the base??
*
just scrape it using credit card or prepaid card, then use tissue with alcohol or arctic cleaner or any others to clean it will do... icon_rolleyes.gif

IINM, the motherboard temp is the chipset temp.

Remember when i'm still on my ASUS P5WD2-E Premium board?
I used to get 48degrees on the stock northbridge heatsink [Motherboard Temp in PC Wizard 2007]
But when i switch the northbridge chipset heatsink to Noctua NC-U6, what i get is 36degrees. [Motherboard Temp in PC Wizard 2007]

Doesn't that shows that the motherboard temp is the northbridge temp? hmm.gif

It sure does look as the northbridge temps to me. smile.gif
*
ic...like that I also can measure the chipset temp liao... rclxm9.gif

Thanks for the info...help a lot... icon_rolleyes.gif notworthy.gif

QUOTE(giasens @ Mar 18 2007, 02:42 AM)
i'm newbie here, just started to monitor my hardware temps.
here's my pc details

casing: CoolerMaster Centurion 5 with stock fans
hsf: amd stock fan
cpu: amd x2 3600+
mobo: asus m2npv-mx
hdd: WD250, WD80, WD40(no sensor)

used to placed my WD40 & WD80 & WD250 at hdd rack, and the temp goes up to 50c
now i replaced my WD250 at cd rack, its temp lower abit to 40-44c

current temps
mobo: 47c
CPU: 41c
WD250: 44c
WD80: 40c
are those temp normal?
or any recommendation casing fans to replace the current stock fans?
and how to tell when's idle temp? idle temp = temp after boot up?

thanks
*
You can take the idle temp after you boot up your PC and leave it there without open any program for about 30 minutes... icon_idea.gif

Your hdd temp is consider ok but my suggestion is try to keep it lower than 40C for idle (or even with little load (10-50%))... just my opinion lar...others may say different... icon_rolleyes.gif

nope, i didn't replace
alrite. but how to keep lower than 40c?
change stock fan?
*
You mention in above that you change your WD250 to CDROM bay there, mean now you have only 2 hdd in the hdd bay there right? Then in front of your casing have an intake fan to blow toward your hdd bay right? Change the fan might help to lower the temp a bit...then for your WD250, you can either put another fan there or you can try to get hdd cooler. If you can have both will be even better... icon_rolleyes.gif

just want to ask, if the temp is abnormal..any problem if left it there?

So on, my bro pc (pentium D 3.0ghz idle is 55.after wait 2 min, it rise to 62.I check in the bios setup there. The highest temp is 75 degree if left it there whole day.(The casing is open side, and no fan cooler inside) currently, he use already 1.5 yr..nothing problem so far..
*
You mean the processor running without HS or with HS but no fan on it? If got HS, what HS is that?

Pentium D is freaking hot processor, idle 55C is not so good, and you say it will go up to 62 just in 2 minutes, that will be very dangerous coz it might get even higher for the idle during freaking hot weather... sweat.gif with so high idle temp, I suspose the load temp will be near to 80C... sweat.gif doh.gif

If the processor have HS, better get a fan for it before the processor burn, if no HS, then you might want to get one fast...

Leave it there could be have problem and could have no problem, depend on your luck lor... who know it might suddently dead due to too hot... sweat.gif
