QUOTE(cablesguy @ Mar 16 2007, 10:21 PM) oc noobie, thats why, anyway mine retail version, not ES gem like gangstapo mention lol...actually i didnt try set it on auto...just bantai straight 1.3875 vcore, then slowly increase until i get 350fsb stable...@355 same vcore failed OCCT after 3 mins, also failed orthos altho cant remember after how long but def less than 30 minutes Ok, try my method first la bro. It's worth a shot. Make it as 400X8 @ Stock Vcore, dont adjust anything on the Vcore. FSB set at 400MHz Multiplier set at 8 [Yes, decrease it ] My e6600 ES is also quite hard in overclocking when i set the multiplier to 9 This post has been edited by sHawTY: Mar 16 2007, 11:06 PM

QUOTE(DaRkSyThE @ Mar 16 2007, 09:14 PM) if its stock, then its not too bad. but i dont remember P4's being so cool. QUOTE(sHawTY @ Mar 16 2007, 09:15 PM) Agreed. It's using Prescott cores aka preshott Prescott are the hottest core ever produced by Intel. If you're using stock heatsink and getting that kind of temps, i believe your motherboard sensor chip got bugs in it. im using btvx. do u think this hsf can result this?

QUOTE(nazerry @ Mar 17 2007, 01:07 AM) im using btvx. do u think this hsf can result this? Shouldn't be. Unless if you're using in a freaking cool air conditioned room with a 2HP air conditioner. But if you're using in a normal room without any air conditioner, that means your motherboard sensor chip should have bugs in it.

i'm newbie here, just started to monitor my hardware temps. here's my pc details
casing: CoolerMaster Centurion 5 with stock fans hsf: amd stock fan cpu: amd x2 3600+ mobo: asus m2npv-mx hdd: WD250, WD80, WD40(no sensor)
used to placed my WD40 & WD80 & WD250 at hdd rack, and the temp goes up to 50c now i replaced my WD250 at cd rack, its temp lower abit to 40-44c
current temps mobo: 47c CPU: 41c WD250: 44c WD80: 40c
are those temp normal? or any recommendation casing fans to replace the current stock fans? and how to tell when's idle temp? idle temp = temp after boot up?
thanks

Your hdd temp is consider ok but my suggestion is try to keep it lower than 40C for idle (or even with little load (10-50%))... just my opinion lar...others may say different...

QUOTE(cablesguy @ Mar 16 2007, 06:09 PM) wta, im running at 43-46 idle on a e6600 @ 3150Mhz, vcore 1.3875v, tuniq tower fan at full speed, think those temps are slightly on the hot side right? whats mobo you using? Asus board particularly have annoying vdroop (Like mine) even u set 1.3875 the real vcore is just 1.3+ (my case, vdroop 0.7-0.8) so take that in mind

it depend on the airflow of ur case .and how close are the two HDD's ...
if u would have a 12cm fan blowing 45cfm through the HDDs .. it should keep it below 40c...

QUOTE(giasens @ Mar 20 2007, 12:41 AM) nope, i didn't replace alrite. but how to keep lower than 40c? change stock fan? You mention in above that you change your WD250 to CDROM bay there, mean now you have only 2 hdd in the hdd bay there right? Then in front of your casing have an intake fan to blow toward your hdd bay right? Change the fan might help to lower the temp a bit...then for your WD250, you can either put another fan there or you can try to get hdd cooler. If you can have both will be even better...
