just want to ask, if the temp is abnormal..any problem if left it there?

So on, my bro pc (pentium D 3.0ghz idle is 55.after wait 2 min, it rise to 62.I check in the bios setup there. The highest temp is 75 degree if left it there whole day.(The casing is open side, and no fan cooler inside) currently, he use already 1.5 yr..nothing problem so far..

You mean the processor running without HS or with HS but no fan on it? If got HS, what HS is that?

Pentium D is freaking hot processor, idle 55C is not so good, and you say it will go up to 62 just in 2 minutes, that will be very dangerous coz it might get even higher for the idle during freaking hot weather... sweat.gif with so high idle temp, I suspose the load temp will be near to 80C... sweat.gif doh.gif

If the processor have HS, better get a fan for it before the processor burn, if no HS, then you might want to get one fast...

Leave it there could be have problem and could have no problem, depend on your luck lor... who know it might suddently dead due to too hot... sweat.gif

Ya, Pentium D is the worst processor ever build by Intel and Intel stock cooler is kinda useless shakehead.gif ... my Pentium D 820 is only 44-47C only for idle, load only 66-67C...using the Noctua NH-U12F... thumbup.gif

yeah, save some $$ and get yourself an after market cooler to cool down that freaking hot processor... brows.gif

My P4C Northwood 3GHz @ 3.41GHz

Idle 45-48C (depend on ambient temp)
Full Load as high as 75C (normally 72-73C)
Vcore: 1.525V

HSF : CM Xdream III Base Copper+Aluminium Fins (lapped some more)
Is it normal? I find it too hot for a northwood with that temp

Like said by Kataro, Pentium D is one of the hottest processor ever released by Intel. So franky speaking, the stock cooler is not good even when you using at default speed. Spend some money on third party cpu cooler if you want to prolong your processor life. Heat = Reduce the life of hardware smile.gif

Your temp is totally not normal. My previous rig, 3.4C (30 caps) OC till 3.82Ghz only running at idle 34'c, full load 42'C. I am using Scythe Andy Samurai Master during that time.

IMO, CM Xdream III is a low end cpu cooler. Not good if you plan to OC your rig. Get something better.

Dear experts,

Need some cunsultation regarding fan speed...as my CPU fan is driving me crazy...

Since buying my new set PC and had a friend installed it for me, ive been tortured by the super ultra noisy fan in my CPU. For the first few mintues that i run my system, the sound will be very nice and slow but after 5-10 minutes the fan starts to get into action and CPU temp by speedfan averages at 60 celcius.

When i run games and my Flight Simulator the temp rise to average 73-74 degrees and the fan noise is as loud as my flight sim aircraft engine sound....

Here are my specs and some screenies....I'm not an expert with system and willing to spend some $$$ to get rid of this annoying noise and if possible put my cpu back where it should be (see attached pic below)

Specs:
CPU: P4 LGA775 3.00Ghz 1MB L2Cache, 800Mhz FSB
MOBO: MSI Intel 865PE Neo3 Chipset Board
RAM: 512 Gig (plan to upgrade soon)
GPU: Asus GeForce FX 5500
HD: Maxtor 160GB

My SpeedFan Results

My Flight Sim that runs the temp all the way to 77 degrees

The answer is simple.
It's because from the picture u put there, it seems like u're using stock intel heatsink, that's why it's super noisy + super hot. laugh.gif

Want your processor to be cool + silent? brows.gif

Buy a 3rd party heatsink for your processor and fix it with a super silent fan. thumbup.gif

Get Thermalright Ultra 120.
The best 3rd Party CPU Cooler thumbup.gif

I can see someone selling in the CPU & Motherboards, Casings & PSU Section in the garage sales thread. thumbup.gif

It is very easy to install. Just read through the installation manual and be extra careful. smile.gif

The temp in your bios is lower because there is NO processing at all ma.. when you in windows and with those processing at background, of course the temp will be higher.

Ya, that is too hot... sweat.gif even my freaking hot Pentium D 820 is cooler than yours, only 44-47C idle with the help of Noctua NH-U12F... icon_rolleyes.gif

Yes... You seriously in need of a new cooler. But if you tight in budget, why not try to cleand and remount your heatsink? Sometime high temp is due to bad mounting.

Probably the TIM dirty already. Just clean it up and replace with new TIM. Can lower the temp by several 'C.

Scythe Ninja ar, it is considered one of those high end air heatsink but I heard that there is some air flow problem with it. Thus, cant perform that well. There is a thread in the forum about this. Look for it.

Thanks.

3.2GHz: 1.375v
