QUOTE(myxery @ Jun 6 2019, 07:12 PM) Because the AF8/A8F is about to pull its curtain , preparing for the upcoming A9G and A8G . Yes , solely for the price . Especially since all OLED tvs are relatively identical with each others , just get whichever that is the cheapest you can find . ( I am strictly talking about the Panasonic , LG , Sony and Philips / TP Vision , excluding the Chinese OLED TVs ) I have a fairly long list of issues with AF8 but if someone can find a new 65" OLED for $7999 I am not going to tell them NO . QUOTE(myxery @ Jun 6 2019, 07:12 PM) Yup. Whatever deficiencies it has is more than made up by being 20% cheaper than it's competitor C8.Kinda weird as our local pricing is the opposite of the UK,US market where Sony is always priced higher than LG. You'll need to wait till next year for the A8G which basically the same as the A8F to get down to this price . |

QUOTE(Convael @ Jun 6 2019, 07:40 PM) Because the AF8/A8F is about to pull its curtain , preparing for the upcoming A9G and A8G . Hi Convael, I just saw both 55 inch Af8 and C8 selling for $6599, and some of the websites recommending sony af8 being the best when I google AF8, though not for gaming. Personally I have been using Sony and have ps4 pro.Yes , solely for the price . I use TV for extensive Youtube (mostly HD quality) and netflix (I got 4k hdr access) and occasional ps4 pro. Would appreciate your comment as I lean towards a Sony because I find Sony pictures better for live TV and youtube, also prefer it to be android tv. Really don't know if I should go for OLED tv as I watch mainly HD quality stuff and a lot of streaming. Currently I am using Sony XF7000 49 inch. Actually I am interested to know between C8 and AF8, which one handles HD upscale better since I watch a lot of youtube. And streaming. Thanks. |

QUOTE(Convael @ May 27 2019, 07:20 PM) A friend of mine from HLK has already received several 2019 models but they are not going to sell them yet . The launch pricing of the 77in is much higher than I anticipated with the prices in US comparatively. Seems like our 55in and 65in pricing has closed the gap to US pricing but it will take some time for the 77in to come close.Probably going to wait on stocks so they can jack up the price , typical . On the bright side , I heard the C9 will be available in 77" this year for the first time in MY . |

Personally I have been using Sony and have ps4 pro. I know there are always a lot of bickering that Sony is better at upscaling but in a very extensive research & discussion I had with CHD back then ,I use TV for extensive Youtube (mostly HD quality) and netflix (I got 4k hdr access) and occasional ps4 pro. Thanks. Our conclusion is the upscaling quality in real life content between the major brands (Sony, Panasonic ,TP vision (Philips ), LG & Samsung ) are very identical . Unless you are using a x30 magnifier to look at the screen , you will not notice any major difference. **Samsung might look a little bit worse at times thanks to their silly overscanning , which can't be turned off but that is a topic for another day . The Sony TV in general do have slightly better noise handling but that doesn't mean the other brands are bad . Sony is just a bit better than the rest when it comes to image processing . For gamers , between C8 and Af8 it will always be an C8. Input latency on A8F is a little bit on the high side. The AF8 also dims the screen very aggressively whenever it finds static content on the screen. Plus the long list of Dolby Vision raised black problems , no Dynamic tone mapping for HDR , slow OS updates , over restrictive ABL and dimming problems , the lousy remote control , random crashes from the already sluggish Android OS ... If they are both listed at the same price , hard to recommend an A8F over C8 . However the Sony AF9 , is a different story and fixed 90% of the complains I have with AF8 . It is my favorite OLED from 2018 but it is stupidly overpriced . (The upcoming A9G will get downgraded rams , which means more of those annoying OS crashes when you have multiple apps opened) If budget doesn't matter and you absolutely must get the best OLED out there , A9F will be my recommendation. For most people , just pick up a C8 / C9 instead. And if you find an even cheaper deal for A8F , go for that instead . All of them will serve your purposes equally well . We are trying to pick a bone in an egg here because we want people to understand the difference between brands , it shouldn't be turning you off from a great deal of OLED TV. Whichever brand you get you will end up a winner , at the display department at least. If you are upgrading from XF70 , you should notice a MASSIVE LEAP in picture quality. Put on a few HDR demo and you should instantly notice a difference of day and night. The infinite contrast from OLED TV also helps enhancing the look of lower quality content , making the edges of objects looking darker ( sharper )than it does on LCD TVs . Kind of a bummer but that is the segment where they make the most profit .The brands are well aware people who are going to buy premium TV of these sizes have a deep pocket to spare, especially in our market. Those Samsung QLED 80" LCD TVs are retailing at crazy price tag of RM100k and RM300k This post has been edited by Convael: Jun 8 2019, 10:55 PM |

QUOTE(szecheng @ Jun 8 2019, 10:40 PM) HLK.Actually most major electrical chains will price match each other these days. If you find one somewhere, just go to another chain that you like for whatever reasons and ask them to price match. Of course, don't be a bitch after they do everything for you and then you say don't want. |

LG is also the only one willing to replace the screen when I was unhappy with the uniformity problems . Sony told me they are normal and I should move on with it. Many thanks in advance. |

Hi all,
Need your input for me to decide between 65 inch C8 and C9, prices as below C8 - RM9.5K C9 - RM13.3K <- The cheapest I found so far.. I watch movies, normal TV and the kids play PS4 pro. Is the RM4K difference for C9 worth it in my case, thanks. |
