Local price should be around Rm549. Rm20 increase from the current RN2 Enhanced but with another whole different level of specs.

I've used this phone for few days without sim. What i can say
Pros - best entry level phone that we can buy now below rm500 - phone is light and thickness is fine for such a phone in this price segment - batt life is great. I do not have sim inserted but used wifi for 1hour SOT and only drained about 12% . Other sites reviewed mentioned it can achieve 7hours SOT. - lcd very near to the glass giving nice pop out effect - sd card! - metal build but feels very light - colors are great and display is sharp enough for 720p 5inch Cons - camera is just so so. Low light not so great.. Focus is quick but sometimes will miss - micro stuttering observed while navigating through menus - ghosting on the lcd when browsing the web. - buttons not backlighted |

QUOTE(ck_boon @ Feb 15 2016, 03:01 PM) mana boleh dapat below five hundred ? all i can found also at least 6plus Sorry i gave the phone to my dad to use already, i still prefer my mi4 because it is faster and better screen.camera really so so? how so so? show some nice pic lar front camera how ? Couldn't test it for now, but from the camera itself viewing using the phone can see it is not that sharp. The phone is great for my dad because the battery standby is quite good because old ppl tend to forget to charge phone daily. The performance of Snapdragon 616 is adequate for the HD screen. |

Basically most of the local seller price this phone at similar price with Redmi Note 3 so I doubt most buyer will pick redmi 3 over redmi note 3

Any idea how to stop Xiaomi own browser advertisements that keep on popup? Note that this is not the normal advertisements that you see on websites.

Hello. New user here. Bought from lazada. My unit come with miui v 7.1.1.0 with bloatware everywhere. Try to root and ended with boot loop after try to replace kingroot with supersu.
Long story short, able to boot to download mode, install miflash tool and other necessary driver and cerrently on v7.1.2.0 eu stable. Play store ready and no chinese bloatware. I would recommend others to try. miflash tool and drivers: link miui v7.1.2.0 eu stable: link Next, wait and see how the battery perform. |

Does anyone know how to set the PIN so it could take more than 4 digits? I find this limitation is very annoying as other brands doesn't have this sort of stupid limitation. And I don't feel like to use password as a workaround as it will pop the keyboard up instead of the normal keypad when unlocking the phone.

Hey, quick question on the MiFlash Tool. http://en.miui.com/thread-218644-1-1.html I had it installed and install the qualcomm driver 64 bit. But it seems like it has an error when I try to flash ROM onto my device. It says file not found. Did you install the qualcomm drivers or just installed MiFlash by its own? and yes I was on "Download Mode". |

Managed to flash the ROM finally. Just install MiFlash as it is and I uninstalled the Qualcomm Driver that came seperately in the zip file.
I'm using MIUI V7.1.3.0.LHPCNCK with ROOT&Xposed (LB) for MiFlash http://en.miui.com/thread-236545-1-1.html Very light and say goodbye to those rubbish ads and bloatwares. The only thing is that these kind of custom ROMs do not support OTA which means you have to manually download and flash these updates. |

Sorry. Just read this. Great that you've successfully flash the rom. Yes, the trickiest part is to install the required driver correctly. Second trickiest is to get to boot option menu!

QUOTE(Eugene91 @ Mar 10 2016, 08:25 AM) Windows 10? If yes you may need to reinstall by booting Windows 10 with Driver Signature Verification Disabled. Both Win 7 and 10.May I know what error did you encounter? But now I know why. You guys who has the same problem as me should just put the ROM folder (after you extracted the zip) into the rood directory of your PC. Only then the MiFlash can actually find the ROM. |

Edit: From your previous input people actually flash china rom then install google play services? But the easiest way is to flash the latest Chinese MIUI that comes with GApps and prerooted (prepared by some good samaritans in the forum). That way you don't have to do anything other than flashing the phone. Btw, I could give you the link if you like. But don't just download the ROM, do register as a member of the forum and say thanks to the good person. That's the least we can do. |

Will share the link once I get home. The one with xposed comes with more extensive flasing guide while the one without, don't. Note that this will be my first time doing flashing myself since my friend isn't able to help me. I should be able to comprehend the instructions correctly |

For me, the important step is to ensure all driver are peoperly installed, be it 32bit or 64bit. Open device manager and check no device have ! mark. Disable windows driver signature verification is a good practice. |

I've tried everything but MiFlash just won't detect my device. What's going on?
EDIT - It does detect it when I'm in fastboot mode but it's locked. In download mode it doesn't show up at all. This post has been edited by Zephyr_Mage: Mar 16 2016, 02:19 AM |

Help! Im using umobile network for my redmi 3. Whenever i go to some poor connection area, the network automatically changed to maxis 2g. But then after i go to other places which supposedly have good umobile coverage, the network is still in maxis 2g and not changing back to umobile 4g. So i need to manually select the network over and over again. What should i do?

Heat and Cold will damage battery lifespan. |

QUOTE(JJKTP @ Mar 17 2016, 08:12 PM) But fast charging causing higher battery temperature throughout. The higher the temperature, to worst it is for your battery. INOV has the added benefit of being able to dynamically adjust the charging voltage over the battery charging cycle. As a battery charges up, it slowly draws less and less current, which is partly why it takes longer to charge the last 20 percent than the first. Qualcomm states that its new technology allows the phone to request just enough voltage to reach the desired charge current, thereby maximising efficiency. This is useful as it reduces the amount of energy wasted during charging. Previously, extra power not used to charge the battery would be lost as heat, warming up your phone and reducing the longevity of the battery. By exerting more control over charging efficiency, less power is wasted, resulting in less heat. Qualcomm states that version 3.0 is up to 38 percent more efficiency than 2.0, which is a substantial energy saving. Energy efficiency is really the major new feature with Quick Charge 3.0, but this is still very important as cooler batteries will last longer than hot ones. Qualcomm boasts that it can charge some devices up to 80 percent in just 35 minutes, but it’s very rare for the company to talk about total charge time, because it is simply less impressive. Power transfer in the latter stages of battery charging is much lower regardless of the charging tech used, hence why Quick Charge can boost your battery to 50 percent or more rather quickly, but will still take over an hour to fully charge your smartphone. |

After more than a week of using redmi 3, as an average consumer here are some of my input:
-Battery life no doubt awesome -Pixels on phone is not very obvious so definitely I won't mind 720p on 5" display -Least heat up issue compared to Redmi Note 2 (I don't use phone while charging though) -Waze performs better than Redmi Note 2 -Reception is rather disappointing (4G was more stable on Redmi Note 2) Overall a very good budget phone for RM510 |

That ghost touch issue seems to be with certain chargers? I used my old LG G2 5v/1.8A charger and there's no ghost touch while charging. I tried my Remax 4 point USB Charger and it does have ghost touch, same goes with my iPad's charger.
I'm not using the original charger because I don't have the adapter. |

Guys, is there a burst mode in Redmi 3 Camera?
If Yes, how was it, does it sluggish/shutter like Mi4i? If No, how many camera function (slide from left side) are in the Redmi 3 Camera? Was planning to upgrade my mom Redmi 2 (1GB RAM) to a better budget camera smartphone, she always complain to me Facebook lag can't click like button or shoot camera hang. itadakimatsuJJKTPzher4883b0rhui |

Was planning to upgrade my mom Redmi 2 (1GB RAM) to a better budget camera smartphone, she always complain to me Facebook lag can't click like button or shoot camera hang. itadakimatsuJJKTPzher4883b0rhui |

QUOTE(zher4883 @ Mar 21 2016, 10:42 AM) Oh thanks for your reply. So I assume it would be the same performance as Mi4i, it will burst, but it will feel sluggish. (eg. 1, shutter, 2, 3, 4, 5, shutter, 6, 7, 8, shutter, 9, 10) lol Can you tell me how many Camera modes are in your default MIUI Camera? I know the Redmi Note 2 have: - Panorama - Timer - Refocus - Manual - Straighten - Beautify - HHT - Scene mode - Tilt-shift - Fish Eye Which one of above that Redmi 3 have or missing. |

Well I'm set to join this gang by next week if only this one seller here ever reply to my pm or Whatsapp. Quite irritating really since he/she could at least confirm availability or not. So push comes to shove maybe I'll just drop by DirectD this Saturday. Any hints/tips on the sales package that I should look out for? P.S anyone here looking to sell theirs are welcome to discuss via pm.

Got my unit from lazada.
Seems like the merchant used MIUI global stable 7.1.1.0.0 in my phone as it had playstore installed already. Anyone with this as well? |

Noob question here. I bought this Redmi 3 at DirectD. Can DirectD detect whether the phone has been rooted or not, if one day I really root this phone? I kind of dissatify with all the bloatware and thinking about rooting this phone. But I don't have the stock firmware as well. Afraid if they can detect the root status, it will void the 2-year warranty. Anyone can explain?
p/s: anyone want to suggest any good custom ROM for this phone? This post has been edited by moonrabbit: Mar 24 2016, 01:17 PM |

QUOTE(eq8all @ Mar 26 2016, 01:57 PM) Well when I got the phone yesterday the only 2 available options (just by colors, same brand) were to put it mildly crappy as heck. The cutouts aren't even smooth. What brand was it? I heard that Directd has Loca Flip Case for Redmi 3. Wonder if it is a 100% fit or just a piss poor manufacturing job. |

@JJKTP
Well that's the worst part bro. Some no name POS in a blank plastic that's it. Only price tagged. Might wanna give it some more time at least other than Loca to pop up. In the mean time I'd settle for just a proper fitting transparent soft case if I can actually find any. |

No you don't need to root before flashing the 1st ROM as it uses MiFlash(like odin). But for the second ROM, you need root, hence that is why I suggest flashing the 1st ROM and then the second one |

QUOTE(sniperz @ Mar 27 2016, 11:20 PM) RM300 or less. Several states are selling it already. 1GB RAM + 8GB ROM and the MT6580 embedded have better Antutu benchmark scores of 23K or more than the previous two or three phones from Leagoo or Redmi series. Seriously I'd only touch anything Mediatek which is Helio upwards but only if I have to thus why this Redmi 3 is a far better bet. Rather add RM100+ to that and get a proper Redmi 2 Enhanced instead if it was me. |

My sister just bought this from DirectD.
The vendor ROM has too much pop up Ad, seriously. I just unbrick the phone using China official ROM. Now stumble on good info for multilanguage ROM here This weekend will try flash this http://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-3/de...-gapps-t3327352 |

Pro (or so we thought maybe it was Enhanced or Prime) is to be expected obviously. Knew this full well before having made this purchase so no early buyer's remorse for me. All things considered if people are willing to wait and spend a bit higher then by all means.
Back to our ido talk though I've just flashed 7.2.6.0 cn stable over and suspect that 6.3.25 dev build has better batt power optimization. |

I don't put alot of weigh onto Antutu scores nowadays since phone companies are aggressively rigging those benchmarks to make their phones look better. Mediatek's gps is still problematic with the newer 67xx chipsets and I agree with the previous poster who said that only the Helio's are worth considering. |

Just chill, man. I admitted because the specs are still really not that low as compared thoroughly and with Antutu, you can see there's something good about it's price range be it rigged or not. Since you say that Helio's are worth, then surely the price is over RM600 as usual. It's already my 4th day using it and I think it suits a lot of people who are in for very tight budget or backup smartphone with all the daily usage fulfilled.I don't put alot of weigh onto Antutu scores nowadays since phone companies are aggressively rigging those benchmarks to make their phones look better. And for a "Malaysian" phone, it looks like some relabeled Chinese phone with very poor support. |

And for a "Malaysian" phone, it looks like some relabeled Chinese phone with very poor support. You can keep your argument to some public viewer. I'll be replying to others instead to "some" of you. For those wanting Redmi 3, I checked that they only release Redmi Note 3 instead of the Redmi 1S / 2 category so far. So don't put your hopes high as I contacted the website recently. hi guys. recently i lost my phone and meanwhile waiting for the funds to be available for a new phone that i have in mind, i went on to purchase a redmi 3 LTE AP set from directd.
since the day i bought it seems to have some issue. firstly, it lags. seriously, it lags. i tried to factory reset and it is still the same but sometimes it is fine. what bothers me is that whenever i open any application like fb, whatsapp or browser, hell even charging the phone, there are ads that pop up. i wonder how is this possible. i really need a solution for this and i was wondering is there anyone that can guide me to root and load any kind of custom rom that might be helpful or any other solution. QUOTE(vin39 @ Mar 31 2016, 10:31 AM) i have tried looking for it online but cnt seem to reeally find it as i keep coming across redmi note 3 forums only. as other forumer mentioned, you must have got the tempered rom. you will need to flash the official rom (or custom rom if you want). if you are a normal consumer, this will be a little bit of hard work. if you are willing to take time and learn, this will be interesting.i thought i could get some help here. i refer to these 2 forum, you might need to register to gain full access: http://en.miui.com/forum-90-1.html http://xiaomi.eu/community/forums/xiaomi-redmi-3.139/ for starter, you might want to read this on how to flash a rom http://en.miui.com/thread-218644-1-1.html good luck! |

Preparation a~ Make sure your PC is running on an x86-64 = 64 bit OS w/e Win 7, 8, 8.1 or 10. This is crucial. b~ Read this 1st. We'll get back to it. c~ Now go to this link, yes 1st download that .exe file in Step 1 it's the installer for MiFlash and then scroll all the way down until you can see "Redmi 3 Latest China Developer Version Fastboot File Download" and click that. Let these finish. d~ While you're at it, begin backup take out your micro SD + SIM reinsert the flap and move w/e data gf pics etc to your PC. e~ now when the downloads are done, go to c:\ create a new folder keep it simple name it to ayam. Extract the fastboot file from .tgz -> .tar and then again until it's a folder. Go into this folder select all then cut and go back to c:\ayam then paste. f~ remember step 1b above? yes follow that link, read, do and install MiFlash after you rebooted into the disabled driver sig verification environ. Make sure that you right click run as administrator on the .exe and when you see the warning dialogs just ignore and select install this driver anyway.Continue installation until it's finished. Done and reboot. 2. Flashing a~ Turn phone off, press Vol Up + Power hold until it boots to a weird looking recovery. Select tap on Download. Then it'll be blank screen don't panic that's just how it is. Put the phone aside for a bit. b~ By now MiFlash should be available on your Start screen so right click on the shortcut run as admin. c~ Connect phone via USB cable once MiFlash is launched and double check by clicking on Refresh button. If it shows a COM10 entry below then it's good. d~ now click on Browse button locate c:\ayam e~ then click on Flash f~ IF it's successful congratulations now can proceed to step 3 3. PM me so that you can transfer my coffee fund laters Good luck... This post has been edited by eq8all: Mar 31 2016, 08:56 PM |

I was actually referring to custom ROMs like Greatslon Mod QUOTE(vin39 @ Apr 5 2016, 06:06 PM) anybody has any source on when global rom might be released? Well, just wait and see like Redmi Note 3, took them few months too. I guess Redmi 3 will come after. checked on their forum but seems like nobody replying. |

I was very interested to buy, but thank goodness I didn't (want to save money first). Now there's report that Redmi 3 Pro might be coming out soon. Add fingerprint scanner (don't really care for it) and higher base storage of 32gb (Yay!!)
Hopefully it will be launched in Malaysia like the Redmi Note 3 Pro. |

QUOTE(arimii @ Apr 4 2016, 01:24 AM) How Redmi 3 compares to Redmi Note 2 ? Anyone own both ? Uh since nobody's replying to you, ill try Really interested with smaller sizes phone. Redmi note 2 over redmi 3 Display is more superior as it is 1080p rather than 720p Screen size is bigger Overheats easily, gets warm with light usage unless you're in aircond room Overheats more when charging Less battery life (SOT was about 4-5hours) Redmi 3 over redmi note 2 Smaller and better grip as well Battery life superior (8-9 hours SOT) GPS positions faster Charging time is longer No comment on the camera These are all that I could think of for now |

Hello all, got myself a redmi 3 as backup phone. Playing around with it a night and I must say, this phone really go back to the old days of what a phone should be - loud speaker, long battery life, simple and intuitive ui (no separate volume control for ringtone notification system, one button control all, yay!), easy to hold due to small and slim, and most of all its an android. Heck even the headphone output is solid for such price!
Right beside Samsung s7e of course it's inferior in every way (except battery lol), but I feel s7e is more like a entertainment device with phone function, while R3 more like a phone with entertainment function. With such cheap price, I'm not sure I want to put a case on it as I really not worried to use it and throw it around. I can see why this phone can be a main phone a phone for some! As crazy as it sound, I have a feeling that I might just sell off my s7e and use this as my main. I have a very good compact camera for travelling, R3 camera is actually good enough for utility purpose. By the way, I flashed the rom to stock China rom 7.1.3 stable and I find installing Google installer app and play store is still not very a smooth experience. Certain app in play store like chrome said not compatible with this device. Guess better to flash the eu version? |

Lol I didnt know play store will update itself. Good to hear that.Currently without using a sim card I'm getting average 10% per hour of sot. I'm expecting some 8 hours of sot achievable with this little wonder if start to use a sim card. |

I did manually install slightly older version and it update itself to the latest version. QUOTE(vanpersie91 @ Apr 9 2016, 08:12 PM) Directd, although greenfone cheaper by RM10. I went to directd due to their operating hour, any service can go late as their closing time is 11pm. REVIEW ADD ON: MIUI - 2GB RAM not enough? Nope, been using it since yesterday and I didn't feel the 2GB lacking. I'm not a heavy user though, but browsing and everyday use I didn't miss much coming from Samsung S6/S7. It's such a lightweight system and offering many many functions that's unexpectedly useful. One function I really love - on lock screen, hold the home button you'll launch the torchlight app, and the LED is quite a bright one despite being single LED! Display - Well this is the part that I feel I get what I paid for. It isn't too bright under direct sunlight use although I can still read what's on the screen. But the white point is on the greenish side, and colours are washed out (coming from iPad IPS and samsung AMOLED). Perhaps I'll download some display calibrate apps to enhance this. Camera - Another part where I got what I paid for, but it takes surprisingly good (but not great) pictures during daylight, and HDR works wonderfully. Night time...forget it lol! But still serve well as a utility tools. Audio quality - I just experienced something really weird. I was searching for best music player, and upon googling most people recommend Poweramp. So I thought I should be getting better sound quality compared to the stock MIUI music player, to my surprise, stock player sound much better compared to Poweramp! Yes, it doesn't load album art properly, and library sorting is horrible, but the sound, wow! Punchy and solid, with wide soundstage (can hear things going on clearly in surround), while Poweramp sounded weaker with narrower soundstage. Gosh xiaomi really make good stock apps! Battery - On my first full charge, 2nd day of use since yesterday 9am, and it's 7 hours of SOT currently and I have 15% left. I mainly use it for web browsing and social apps, but I also install and uninstall quite a few apps and played music for a good 2+ hours since yesterday. I suspect it can do much better as I installed a music player AIMP since yesterday and experience bad battery drain like 1-2% drain per hour on standby (mobile data) without doing anything, only unintall it in the afternoon just now. Uninstalling it seems to slow down the drain. But still, ayam impressed. This post has been edited by Casey Joo: Apr 9 2016, 09:14 PM |

What does night mode do anyway? EDIT: Saw someone posted photo taken with RN3 camera at RN3 thread, RN3 takes better photo I must say. 32GB/3GB/fingerprint/1080p seems like a better buy than the R3 though. Well I guess if you start seeing official Global ROM only then you might expect Redmi 3 to be officially brought in here.

I'm on china official rom and mi store nagging me to update to latest version (7.2.7), so I don't think you need to worry? As a matter of fact, I read about Redmi Note 3 forum at MIUI forum, china rom team seems to be more hardworking with updates where global rom team slack and slow with updates. By the way, read about 7.2.x onwards battery life not as good, so I'm staying on 7.1.3 at the moment. No problem with the rom whatsoever, no hang no reboot, and has all the function I need. In comparison, my samsung s7e hang and reboot few times throughout 2 weeks of use. |

I even read about mi store can actually search for Google installer but I didnt bother and straightgo search internet for the APK instead. |

QUOTE(Casey Joo @ Apr 11 2016, 09:27 AM) I'm on china official rom and mi store nagging me to update to latest version (7.2.7), so I don't think you need to worry? 7.2 onwards Antutu benchmark score increase by 20-30%. 7.1 is not as smooth as 7.2 so basically you trade battery life for performanceAs a matter of fact, I read about Redmi Note 3 forum at MIUI forum, china rom team seems to be more hardworking with updates where global rom team slack and slow with updates. |

QUOTE(Casey Joo @ Apr 11 2016, 12:25 PM) I went to search for the Google installer and once done you can use it to install all the Google services and play store. The important thing toinstall is actually the Google frame work thingy and Google service. i heard the google installer cnt install play store now? earlier can but now cnt.I even read about mi store can actually search for Google installer but I didnt bother and straightgo search internet for the APK instead. |

You can follow this guide first, flashing ROM without using PC:http://en.miui.com/download-298.html If it's not able to flash for whatever reason which is what happened to mine, where the software doesn't recognise the ROM file, use this manual flash guide. Do click the link to go to youtube website, cause the video description contain all the necessary download. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ffytnVrBc9E The video didn't show the most vital step though. First have to install Mi PCsuite, as it'll install USB driver, or else your PC cannot detect your phone. Another problem is you MUST use 64bit windows (according to guide on MIUI forum) though, or else will give you "not enough memory" problem, happened to mine, and it soft bricked my phone. You can try use 32bit windows to do it, if really flash unsuccessful, don't panic, just unplug the USB cable, press and hold power button, your phone will restart and enter boot loop (keep restart but won't get past MI logo), hold the volume up+down and you'll see the phone stop boot loop and looked like it's shutdown (but it's actually entering download mode again), connect USB, flash again. |

i'm torn between this and mi4c...
redmi3 - metal - bigger battery capacity - can expand storage via microsd mi4c - better processor - reversible usb type c - better screen resolution - dual led flash This post has been edited by axxer: Apr 12 2016, 07:22 PM |

Dunno how to describe my feeling towards the battery life. Totally amazed, I feel like I'm using iPad level of battery life. Browsing, FB, WhatsApp, some music and YouTube. When watching YouTube even 720p will only eat up 1% battery every 6mins. And I don't dim my display, left it at auto brightness slider right at the middle. Never off WiFi and GPS, too lazy to toggle them on and off.
It's not a performance car, rather like a small boring car that you get you to wherever you want to go, with extreme fuel efficiency, and dependable reliability. No crash or restarts so far. Very happy with it. This post has been edited by Casey Joo: Apr 14 2016, 12:09 AM |

Nope phone not shut down but somehow it just displayed that way... Also I don't use any battery profile, just lock screen put away and sleep. Overnight it lose about 2-3 percent. If I don't install Facebook and messenger I probably get better standby. |

To those who bought this phone from local seller, strongly recommend you to flash the phone with official ROM.
The phone from local seller (unofficial), the Rom is tampered causing the rom to be bloated with ads and bloatwares. The battery is better thou surprisingly |

That image looked creepy...
If yours is imported unit probably come with ROM that's tempered with, and not safe to use where your personal info might be accessed easily by hackers. If yours is local warranty unit (cause you posted at redmi note 3 thread so I assumed you have note 3 instead of redmi 3), then some nasty app is causing this. |

QUOTE(NightFelix @ Apr 22 2016, 10:57 AM) Yup it's when I need the best image quality I'll be carrying my Sony RX1R. Funny enough, I'm not concerned about noise, so they looked fine to me. I rather have good colour and white balance than good noise control. Used to use some camera phone that didnt produce satisfying colour and white balance and every picture looked dull, albeit with a lot less noise and higher resolution. Very frustrated really. |

Hello guys. Just got Redmi 3. I've rooted using Kingroot and then installed backups from old phone using Titanium Backup. Almost everything works fine except that I cannot open Phone, Messaging and Contacts app. All three will force closed every time I open them.
Any suggestions? |

QUOTE(disket @ Apr 25 2016, 11:33 AM) Not economical because it being sold over 1000CNY in China and by the time stock arrives in Malaysia, the price will drop again which makes importer make a lost. Second, even if they do, it will be sold quite expensive due to scarcity of the phone and most of the consumer wouldn't buy it. If you really want it buy it directly from China. |
