So can just purchase and use it as it is instead of customizing?

What most recommend here is you need to flash. Maybeto China stock rom, or Eu rom. Because most seller already flash their vendor rom. Full with Spyware and ransom ware.

You can use it as it is of you're not scared of them being your imei number of online transaction password etc

Redmi 3 and Redmi 3S from China support the exact same band pair. It's just that Redmi 3S sold in India support lesser bands.
*

So it's confirmed that redmi 3s also sold in China

No need apps. Just go to website below:

https://www.frequencycheck.com/models/Ob0RZ...te-16gb-2016030

Apparently, if u need Band 5 for telco "webe", get the TD-2016031 which was released last July. Confirm with the seller whether they sell version TD-2016030 or TD-2016031. I think current stock from all importers/sellers are still TD-2016030.

However, if you're brave enough, you can manually unlock Band 5 (Source)

So far both my Celcom & UMobile lines connect to LTE...

Very nice! Thanks for the info! :-)

Get the one with fingerprint scanner. Redmi 3 pro of redmi 3s. Redmi 3 don't have scanner nor quick charge. 3s have.
*
Does redmi 3 pro have official global rom?
As far as I understand only 3s are to be the international model.
And India 3s for 2gb 16gb version don't have fingerprint scanner.

Errr.... Not for my R3S... Even after leave it overnight (>7 hours), the FP works as usual. Just tap & it unlocks to desktop right away...my R3S is in EU ROM btw...

The cheapest 2GB/16GB combo.
*
Nice. I would like to have one. As portable mifi. But only afraid of band limitation for current model. Redmi 3 pro bit all the band in Malaysia covered but rather prefer redmi 3s

Streaming galore (revisited...)

[attachmentid=7442988] [attachmentid=7442991] [attachmentid=7442994]

R3S does streaming for more than 15 hours in 3 days; 3 nights period!

Time to wrap it soon...
*
Excellent battery life
What are you doing actually? Streaming to the phone? Watching it in the screen? Because you're on wifi so not using it as Hotspot to other device

need some advise. should i just grab a 3s now or wait for mi malaysia to launch first?
been using nokia 3100 for month and a half now since my s3 died.
tempting to get 3s but AP set warranty coverage scared me. plus i live in ipoh so, mi service centre is close by. but, waiting it to launch is sure is sloowwwwwwwwwww
i dont think even next month would get to see it to launch here.

so yeah, any advise?
*
Don't know when it will be launched. Xiaomi are so quiet in launching MI max. So sudden unlike rn3. Eventhough it was in diem for quite a few month. I think redmi3s also in sirim database?

Relax... They are testing the launching price... If the sales doesn't meet the target, it'll drop the SRP... to RM499...? Not...!
*
Do you think the model is good as a mifi modem substitute?

Why don't you get the mi max? Better for media consumption.

If I owned it, I'll use it mainly for :
1) more than 5 hours navi everyday.
2) YouTubing & streaming via NAS while laying on my back. Easier to hold & lighter too... Mi Max is heavy to hold single-handedly.

However, this 3S is for my kid's birthday present...

As for MiFi purpose, can't comment much as I don't have my SIMs in it. But I would certainly use it for MiFi because you can also use it for navi, online shopping, pix & vidx, dashboard cam in car, control TV channels at mamak stalls, etc. It's the modern Swiss knife tool... One device for multipurpose usages...
*
Thanks for your opinion. I'm thinking between getting this or mi max. I Already have rn3pro though. Evaluating if the mi max too big to carry around in tge pocket while riding bike

Since you have the budget, go for it... Mi Max is not pocketable. You can't  lift ur legs to ride ur bike... Put it in ur beg instead. Else, you get cargo-pants that has zip side pockets... Much more comfortable and secure...
