HSBC Premier World Reward is 15k to 1k Enrich... (https://sp.hsbc.com.my/rewardspremier/)

wehreby HSBC Premier Travel is 20k to 10k Krisflyer... (https://sp.hsbc.com.my/rewardspremiertravel/)

HSBC is 1 of the worst offender of "Fine Prints", all of their rewards got very low cap, tons of restrictions, and they assign confusing names such as "Air Miles" as the name of their reward points and makes u think 1 Air Miles = 1 mile on all airline reward program, while in fact its just another name for reward points

I noticed this thread predominantly discuss about credit card and air miles despite the topic also covers hotel and others

Anyone has success in claiming BRG successfully with Marriott? If yes, usually which site did you refer to? Planning for my Seoul trip next Feb but so far I check many 3rd party sites are not exactly cheaper

hotel redemption with airmiles is generally a poor deal, hence few people actually does that.

I don't plan to use airmiles. I intend to pay outright cash for my stay but it will be better if can claim 25% BRG from the Marriott published rate

Hi all,
I would like to see advise here on comparison between the below travel CC. Which provides the best value from spending value & conversion perspective?

HSBC T1 vs SCB Journey Card:

1) Spending for miles (Local & Foreign spending)
2) Miles conversion (Krisflyer...etc.)

Greatly appreciate any wise advice and experiences. Thanks!

I'm not sure if this is the correct forum for sharing, but this is the first time KrisFlyer has ever sent me a EOY statement like the one below:

[attachmentid=11488297]

The bulk of the points (around 700,000 of them) came when I signed off my Porsche 911 GTS on my Maybank Diamante Card in July this year. I received double Maybank Treat points because it was an overseas purchase (both the Porsches were bought in Sydney), so when I converted, it was a serious bunch of KrisFlyer miles. Anyway, this is the first time I've accumulated more than a million KF points in the span of a year. I guess travelling from Singapore to Sydney on First/Business Class every other month also really racked up the points count!

The problem I'm facing is what am I going to do with these points. I've found that trying to redeem First Class tickets (eg. I'd buy a full price J Class, then use my points to upgrade to Suite/First Class) is almost next to impossible with SQ nowadays, with revenge travel still causing a huge backlog of wannabe wanderlusters. Thankfully, these points don't expire (since wife and I are both PPS card holders), so I guess I can keep kicking the can down the road until the travel bug simmers down...

But then, most airlines will pull another trick out of their dirty hat: and devalue the points!

Anyway, just thought I'd share a little bit of my joy with all of you. It's a happy problem to have, and I thank you for reading.

Happy New Year guys.

Honestly, I don't mind having this happy problem too! laugh.gif Thanks for sharing. biggrin.gif
Also, the revenge travel is still going to happen though, everyone will continue travelling like there is no tomorrow.

welcome to the club.

if you can afford to buy revenue J/F, don't bother to waste time monitoring for redemption. Your time is more valuable than this.

those KF can use to purchase items from KrisShop or book hotel, etc as alternative.

Thank you bro.

I've already redeemed 2 iPhone 15s at 30% KF miles discount during their recent promotion, but apparently, the best ยข/mile is to be had by way of seat class upgrades - I actually "lose" money when I redeem items from KrisShop, compared to when I redeem seat upgrades, or so frequent flyer miles gurus and sifus have told me...

you might "lose" more money if you convert your time used to monitor which flight available for redemption since your time worth a lot of money.

you may try out once to see if worth the effort and time or not.

Overseas spend some banks charge a higher conversion rate. Example M2C always at around 2.1% and UOB around 2.1% to 2.5% (more like 2.5%). UOB is also expensive with KRW at 3.9%
