But we all have to wait for the skies to open fully, post COVID... having said that, I'm sure most of our frequent flier privileges have been extended by the respective airlines. SQ automatically extended my PPS membership by another year - there was no way I could have flown the required miles due to COVID.

Most of the major players have some sort of status extension with the latest being British Airways (phew!).

I agree with SQ’s business class at Silver Kris - it’s a dated product. The First Class and Private Room are somewhat better, IMHO anyway. CX’s lounges are also quite good, especially their noodle bar.

Unfortunately there is no announcement regarding TPR renovation, yet.
It was supposed to start renovation from T3 Business, First, TPR and Gold since Aug 2019.
However during my visit last Nov, if my memory is correct, it was KF Gold undergoing renovation instead (I still remember when I pass by Business lounges, it was fully packed, just like pasar malam, probably can't even find a seat).
Till Feb before lockdown, there is still no report on TPR renovation.
Hopefully they had started by now, and by next year we can compare the new TPR.
Besides dated furnishing, the food and champagne are excellent in TPR.
I don't think many business class lounge can exceed the standard of TPR.
The only downside for TPR is without toilet in the bathroom...
*
Yes, you have to walk out to the First Class Lounge to use the showers/toilets there.

I did drop by First Class Lounge but they are the same (for T3)

Indeed you are correct. Sorry I wasn’t clear in my earlier post - I meant to say that to access the toilets, one would have to exit TPR and use the ones at the First Class lounge. The facilities are the one and the same - but they do provide better quality toothbrushes in their little open/shut cases which the Business Class folks don’t get. Hahaha

The toothbrush in that open shut case is very good indeed!!

Shower rooms I think no one does it like Cathay Pacific’s in Hong Kong. The shower rooms in SIN’s QF Flounge is pretty neat too. I’m a sucker for good lounge showers 🥰
*
The best shower room I've ever used is the one @ Haneda, in ANA Suite (I was flying SQ First Class, and I don't think they have a KrisFlyer lounge there, so I was asked to use ANA's First Class Suite). Oh my goodness. It blows anything SQ has clean out of the water!

There are both toilets and showers inside TPR, just that in separate cubicles, which is a joke for such a luxury place.
No complaint for the shower itself.

Only started to enjoy shower in lounge since last year.
Did try Dubai Emirates Business lounge, the bathroom there is good enough.

Still waiting for HKG F cabana as well as shower on sky with Emirates (should have enough miles by next year, hopefully A380 is flying again).

Really!? You mean TPR actually has its own toilets!? All these years and I always walk out of the the room and use the First Class's facilities! I'm such a doofus.

This is the ANA Suite shower ... personally, it's the best I've experienced.

Forgot to add - it's got both the WC (with the excellent Japanese smart toilet bidet) & the shower in the same cubicle... SQ needs to buck up!

Of course there are toilets inside TPR! Haha.
It is located somewhere opposite bathroom.
Didn't take photo for the toilet (nothing special), only found photos for the bathroom.
If not mistaken, there is no floor drop inside shower area, water easily flow out when open the door.

Yea, they have too many A380, impossible to stop all.
Agree that it is not worth wasting miles on their business class.
*
Ah, the familiar old showers. I swear to you, the cubicles look the same in First & Business Class. No differentiation at all.

Actually, I tend to stay away from bathtubs, even in hotels, if I can... you don't want to know what I've found with a black light in the past! That turned me off for life!

Agree, I am not dare to try hotel bathtubs, even in 5 stars hotel.

It was just the one time, where I’d bought it along for fun. Never again. Sometimes it’s better off not knowing. LOL

Sigh. 7 months of the year have gone and we’re no closer to leisure travel... 2020 has been a total wipe out.

One of the joy in traveling is the anticipation leading up to the travel day

Just book a refundable ticket and hotel. Then share your joy out with family, friends, colleague, /k here. Nearing to the travel day cancel them if it’s still not permissible to travel

Can you get your money back? SQ was very quick with the refund - we got back $20,000 for the 2 cancelled trips within 3 days of us asking for it.

Thanks.

Until quarantine is unnecessary, unlikely to travel. In the meantime, list of towns and restaurant to visit is getting longer.
*
Well, let’s keep our fingers crossed that these restaurants won’t be forced to close down because of COVID19.... and that they’ll still be alive and kicking to satiate and satisfy our hungry palates when we can all travel safely again smile.gif

Now should be quite fast in getting refund.
My cathay paid ticket at the beginning of lockdown was partially refunded (90%), still yet to ask from CS.
A few of my SIA redemption ticket also put as open ticket, yet to ask for redeposit, I guess I should spend some time to settle all these.
I think it is quite unlikely to travel for the next 6 months, based on current development.
Expect another wave (at least) during winter.
Likely only safe to travel again next summer.
KF dont often give signup bonus.
Even when they do so, usually only 500 miles, which is insignificant.
Nevertheless, there is no hurry to sign up for now, unless your TP is expiring soon.
*
Yes, initially I converted all my SQ tickets into credit as I was still hoping desperately that I’d be able to fly to see my family overseas. All that’s no longer a feasible option at the moment, so I finally grew in the towel and asked for a refund instead.

Flying business shall land you 5-10% (depending on destination and timing).
First class >10%, can go as high as 20%!

Sorry for the noob question, but could you explain what % is this please? Would like to learn, thanks!

Just thought I'd share the power of funneling all your spending into KrisFlyer points. I have 2 cards which allow me to do KrisFlyer conversion, at no additional cost:

1. AMEX PPS card:

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

2. MayBank's Diamante Visa card:

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

And because I'm a PPS member, my KrisFlyer points never expire, and because I usually purchase the premium classes (Business or First/Suite) I wish to fly (as using redemption usually means I'm put on the waitlist, given the scarcity of seat availability on SQ flights post COVID), I've not really had a chance to use the points over the past 3 years. I've used a small fraction of the points to redeem flights back to Manila for my domestic helper (she goes home whenever we spend more than a month away in Sydney), but here's what nearly 3 years of funneling everything into KrisFlyer points, in addition to double points with AMEX PPS whenever I use that to purchase SQ premium class tickets, gets you:

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

(full disclosure, I paid for an overseas purchase of my Porsche cars in Sydney with my Diamante card, so that accounted for a huge chunk of KrisFlyer points. I also paid for all the white goods and renovations of the house in Sydney on either one of those cards, so those major/big ticket items really racked up the points more so than the usual montly spending would).

The trouble is, I don't know when would I ever get a chance to redeem those points - I don't want to lose my PPS status, so I keep purchasing SQ tickets with my AMEX cards, which gives me double the usual KrisFlyer points earned... it's a vicious cycle with no end!
