question about the pin and pay, existing card which already have pin ( for ATM access ), is that compatible with the pin and pay? or they still need to replace a new card to compatible with pin for payment?

My newly approved mach card confirm is a pinandpay card. How do I confirm there is a need to get replacement for pinandpay enabled card for my MBB 2 card, Ikhwan, watami?

Below is an extract of definition of 'retail transaction' from ambank in response to my query.

'Please be advised that "Eligible Retail Transactions" means the purchase of any goods or services (local and international) with the use of the credit card and may, at the Bank absolute discretion, include any card transaction as may be determined by the Bank except for the following transactions:

a. Easy Payment Plan, Balance Transfer, QuickCash and Cash Advance; and/or
b. Any form of refund; and/or
c. Any dispute, unauthorized or fraudulent retail transaction; and/or
d. Interest / Management Fee payments, late payment charges, charges for cash withdrawals, Government Service Tax, Goods and Services Tax and any other form of service/miscellaneous fees.'

I would like to know is the definition of 'retail transaction' throughout majority of the Malaysian bank (such as Maybank, hong leong etc) similar or does it differ from bank to bank?

Thank you

basically similar

retail transaction like u swipe over groceries, telco , online spending , (non government transactions) ...

government transactions are like when u pay saman .. insurance (some bank treat is as retail) . best is to check with them,

PIN and Pay card will be equipped with higher security measures in the chip.

and yes, all old cards that are not pin and pay ready will be replaced gradually this year.
No, you don't have to request for it to change. the bank will most likely send a new replacement as the card reaches its anniversary.

Thanks for the information. All my other card expiry is over 2017. So they will only replace it during anniversary? I thought that is a must that it should use pin and pay by 1st jan 2017?

does anyone know how do the banks calculate your per annum income? how do we know we earn enough to qualify
according to my EA form, i definitely earn much more than the per annum requirement by the card, but still the bank rejects my application based on the reason that my per annum income was not enough...
the documents that i submitted on the spot are only IC & KWSP for the last year 2015
thank you!

Just your (monthly salary + fixed income) x 12. Payslip is good enough and KWSP statement will further help.
However, it still depends on banks' assessment. Your credit history will be reviewed, so if you owe banks before, then chances are low. That said if your credit history is too clean is also another problem, so best to apply from your salary crediting bank.

When i apply mach by hong leong, i saw they enter income via EPF is by entering the last 6 month of epf member contributtion. The system then calculate the average contribution and determine the annum income based on 11% contribution rate.

Note : for annual income less than 36000 can only hold maximum 2 cards based on BNM rules.

2 banks' cards actually. It's because all credit limit will be shared for the same bank.

P/s: Not the same for M2Cards and Ikhwan because not sharing same limit.

Last month i submitted an application for a credit card which has a minimum annual income requirement. As i wanted it urgently, i did not wait for my january payslip to come through for the application. I sent in my latest 3 months payslip at the time of submission, and a letter from HR confirming my annual income (to show that i reached the min annual income requirmnt). Actually, if they used the payslips that i submitted and x 12, they will not get the min requiremnt as my increment is shown only on the january slip (which i could not wait due to urgency as i mentioned earlier).

Even with my new salary increment and x12, will not get the min requirement. Therefore at the time of submission, I was solely relying on my HR letter, which multiply my monthly salary by 14 (not 12), as our company has a 2months fixed bonus yearly, no more and no less.

My point is, at least in my case, i do think they are also taking into consideration othr things rather than monthly salary x12. When i submitted, wasnt even confident that they will approve my apllication.

Anyway, i received the HR letter not for the sole purpose of applying for credit card. Coincidentally i was applying for home loan end of last year.
