It's not a bank, but you got it in the list.
I've contacted BNM and there is no such regulation.
In fact, she was surprised on why the company does not provide reasons for rejection.
*
I don't understand, what credit card companies that you are referring to? Isn't all credit cards are under banks' facility? Except for Aeon because it is not a bank to begin with. Other like RinggitPlus are just third party agent.

Anyway, not only Malaysia but China as well, banks cannot share the rejection reason. Good that it is not a BNM's rule, next time I can quote this if any bank rejects me.

did you notice when you sign the application form and attach with terms and conditions mentioned 'banks has right to reject without disclose any reasons'
*
Yes I did. My point is what's the problem in stating the reasons?
After all you made effort to submit the application and the least they could do is to tell you the reason.

A scenario as below:

Let's say annual fee is charged to my credit card on 20-Jan-2016.

I do not want to pay and let's say I terminate on 21-Jan-2016. No usage after AF is charged.

Q1: Do I need to ensure that there is no outstanding amount by 20-Jan-2016 so that I can terminate without paying the AF? Or I can settle any outstanding amount even after the AF is charged?

Q2: The 'no usage' after AF is charged refers to swipes only right? If a cashback is credited after the AF is charged, is that considered as usage?

Thank you

Im not sure with with MBB..
But However others bank will,
i)They X allow u to cancel your CC if got Outstanding balance in, They will make sure u clear all hutang before can procced to cancellation

ii) Auto debit (billing) also consider as an "usage" & I believe, once the CC have cancelled u x get any CB (even ) previous month CashBack.

Need Make sure inform the service provider of any auto billing early on change your CC or they make any charges on the CC that u want to terminate...

Your (i) is for Maybank? Yes, my question is for Maybank too laugh.gif

Meaning it is okay to have outstanding amount after they charged the AF, as long as I clear the outstanding before cancellation.

What if the AF is charged but I wait for the cashback to enter first before cancellation? Is that ok? Will they consider the cashback as 'usage'?

The date of AF charged and cash back credited in is just 3-4 days.

Just now went shopping for some new clothes and I'm surprised all the girls who queued behind or in front of me used their debit card to pay. I was like the only one paid with my CC. sweat.gif

Well, this means they are richer than me, I swipe first and pay later while they straight deduct from bank account. laugh.gif

Sorry,Typo abit on my 1st reply...

Most of the Bank charge their AF not late than a month or on the next statement

I x think CB is an "Usage" becos it's the bank who credit back "What we have Earn" to our account...

How about CCRIS? It still depends how the bank assesses you, different bank different assessment.
Anyway, I suggest you not to be aggressive, apply one or two at once. Good luck!

sorry to say but truth hurts

if your record is too clean.. then be prepare to get for rejection as banks don't know you and your payment pattern

even high income applicants get rejections too , some times...

if you have hire purchase or mortage loan then its easy to get cc

moreover banks are tighten their tap on unsecured loans

Yes, no credit history will lead to rejection. Hence, always start with your salary bank.

That said, I got my first card even with clean record. I applied CIMB Direct Access card that time which was meant for fresh grads.

not at all when comes to unsecured lending because the reason they gave 'u can take those fd out anytime'

but having fds for some period definitely will help a bit in applying mortage loan or hire purchase loan which define as 'secured lending'

dont believe? give a try thumbup.gif

except bank define you as a 'high net worth customers'

no, it doesn't. unless you use that fd to pledge for your cc. they will give you an agreement whereby you need to terminate your cc before you are allowed to withdraw your fd.
