Below is an extract of definition of 'retail transaction' from ambank in response to my query.

'Please be advised that "Eligible Retail Transactions" means the purchase of any goods or services (local and international) with the use of the credit card and may, at the Bank absolute discretion, include any card transaction as may be determined by the Bank except for the following transactions:

a. Easy Payment Plan, Balance Transfer, QuickCash and Cash Advance; and/or
b. Any form of refund; and/or
c. Any dispute, unauthorized or fraudulent retail transaction; and/or
d. Interest / Management Fee payments, late payment charges, charges for cash withdrawals, Government Service Tax, Goods and Services Tax and any other form of service/miscellaneous fees.'

I would like to know is the definition of 'retail transaction' throughout majority of the Malaysian bank (such as Maybank, hong leong etc) similar or does it differ from bank to bank?

Thank you

Hi, want to ask:
1) I am having a credit card which its anniversary is on June this year. I am planning to cut the credit card in order to get rid of the hard to waive annual fee. When is the best timing to cancel the card in order to get rid of being charge annual fee?
2) If annual fee is charged, as long as I do not use the card after being charged annual fee, is my request later for waiver of annual fee definetly be entertained or subject to bank's decision?
Thanks

Can we ask from the bank a particular day we want as our statement date? The bank's referred are HLB, PBB & ambank. can I ask to change to 18th (not 17 nor 19 etc but exactly 18), or do they have specific day out of a month?
If cannot choose a day that we want, any way to easily keep track of the payment due date?
Thanks

depends on the bank.

these are the dates (could've a bit more) that i've gotten:

MBB Credit Card Bill Cycle Dates
3 6 8 12 14 18 21 24 26 28 EOM

HLB Credit Card Bill Cycle Dates
1 2 3 4 5 7 11 16 17 19 20 22 23 25 26 29 30 31

UOB VOX Card Bill Cycle Dates
3 13 14 15 16 17 21 23 24 25 26

you cant just pick a date the bank doesnt have, so pick something near your preferred PDD (payment due date).
fyi, PDD = bill date + 20 days.
imo, i prefer bill date in early of the month, so that PDD always on a fixed day within same month. e.g. bill date = 3, pdd = 23.

if my bill date slightly later, the pdd already cross to next month, hence always +/- 1 day difference, which is a annoying to track  laugh.gif . e.g. bill date = 15, pdd = 4 or 5, depending on the month. however, there is always a slight grace period of 1-2 days after PDD that you can still pay without getting interest charges.

if bill date on Feb, the pdd date in March will much further away since Feb has shorter day count biggrin.gif biggrin.gif
to track pdd, statement always stated the date.  or my simple rule: bill date & pdd = within same month.

Thank you, the bill & PDD = same month seems to be a very good suggestion.

hi guys, recently I applied for maybank credit limit increase (permanent). I submitted for 3 cards namely ikhwan platinum, maybank2 gold cards & amex platinum. However, only ikhwan platinum got increased its limit which is x1.1 times of my salary. The later two was not increased. As I know ikhwan is an islamic card & the limit should be separate from the conventional cards, so is the maybank2 gold & amex platinum (no maybank logo) shared limit? What may be the reason that the amex platinum limit increase being rejected & is there any way to appeal? thank you

Sometimes bank offer rebate of RM x for y nos of auto billing subscribed. Given the existence of cash rebate card like PB VS, cimb cash rebate, Uob YOLO etc, which offer rebates on online payment, what is the logic of subscribing to auto billing? Which option is more worthwhile in terms of getting rebate? Thanks

' RM 0.00 MBB: Kindly be informed that your credit card a/c has reached 90% utilization of the credit limit. Pls ignore SMS is pymt has been made. T&C apply. TQ '

The above SMS was sent to me. So do I need to make payment immediately or before due date will do?

Can I still utilise the credit card's 10% balance of credit limit or 90% is the max?

Thank you
