You have to pay for it. The refund will come in later, and will offset with your future purchase.
Else, when the refund comes in, call bank and ask if can offset against the statement amount.

I had refund before too but because I still use the card, so let it offset my future purchases while I pay that amount first to avoid any interest due to shortpayment.

Thank you bro for your fast reply. Then I need to call bank to offset against statement amount cause that card i dont use very often.

Well, it depends on your needs.
CIMB has one of the best exchange rates.
AmBank WMC/VI gives RM1 = 5X AmBonus Points for overseas spend and 5,000 AmBonus points = 1,000 Air Miles.

i can tell you maybank has one of the highest exchange rate...they use visa's rate which is already 1% on top of the median rate, and then impose their own 2%....

i paid uni fees, which means rm1200 extra over visa rate...but it gets me enough miles for a one way business class ticket to australia....plus the taxes mh charges it comes to rm1.7, for a normally 4-6k ticket...you decide if that is worth it or not...

Got a call offering CIMB CR Platinum card and somehow my details were given to them when company switched to CIMB to bank in salary. Declined but caller persisted saying they'll send the card to workplace anyway.

So they can push cards now? Don't know of I need another CR card. You guys (and girls) get this often?

If you want to be nasty, can complain to BNM. They cannot do this.
That aside, CIMB CR is quite a useful card. biggrin.gif

Sounded really eager that I have that. I was in the middle of work and figured I could cancel (or not activate) after I received it.

Will read up more tomorrow and see if I have a need for another Ikhwan-similar xD

Done reading. Would be good if I have to fill up on days other than Friday/Saturday; even if it's only 2%. Didn't have much to buy online (: Currently its essentials > dining > splurging

Hi to all credit card sifu here. I have question to ask I've recently got my credit card from CIMB but I'm quite reluctant to use it because I'm not completely master on this card and worse comes to worse if I don't use it properly you can get bankrupt. Main question here if I bought let's say for example a laptop cost 4k and shop offer 0 interest with credit card with the payment of rm333 every month in 1 year. Can I pay more than 333 and settle my debt with using credit card as soon as possible or I cannot I have to keep on paying rm333 for 1 whole year. Can someone help me clarify with this?

this is no easy question.

if you got the promo from the shop, then you need to check with the shop on their T&C.
if the promo is from CIMB, then you need to check the T&C from the bank.
See if they have a clause for 'penalty' on early termination.

When you say 'settle my debt with using credit card as soon as possible', I assumed you meant settling your credit card debt as soon as possible. Then same answer again, you need to check the promo T&C to see if there is any 'penalty' on early termination.

But if you are diligent credit card user, make good use of the credit card promo of 0% fee and keep your money in FD if you will, earn some interest and slowly pay off your 'debt' if you have extra money. biggrin.gif

Having money stashed away for a new laptop, I'll wait for end of year shopping before taking the plunge.

Meanwhile, to those with experience doing the 0% installment thing no traps to look out for right?

it will charge you rm333 per month for the whole year..

it will not reduce the amount or the tenure if you pay more..

you can pay more this month, it will treat it as advance payment, and then will deduct it when next payment cycle come..

it is like hire purchase (car loan), not like housing loan..

if you make advance purchase, make sure u do not use the cc for other purchases, or else the advance payment will become payment for those extra purchases, meaning if you pay 4000 in 1 shot to the credit card, make sure dont use the card for other purchase, otherwise part of the 4000 will become the payment of your other purchase..

if this month you pay 433, next month u still need to pay 233, understand?
