Hey folks,
Hunting for my first CC to build a good credit history. No specific preferences but additional cash back on my monthly expenditure is a good thing.
I'm starting out without commitments, yet, and my ~40+k income goes into servicing PTPTN loans and utilities. Would appreciate additional input besides the CIMB Cash Rebate and the Maybank-I's Ikhwan.
Thanks

QUOTE(fruitie @ May 10 2016, 04:43 PM) This is just one of the required documents, optional most of the time if you don't have payslip and EPF statement. You don't have any of these? hey fruitie, I do. Just not sure if they wanted the pengesahan or the breakdown of it. Want to make sure everything is in order so no need to keep going back and forth. Thanks. Will submit the application once I got my IC scanned and crossed.

Finally got my Maybank card application approved and I'm setting up a favourite IBG on CIMBClicks. The account number is the same as the card number?

Spent a few hundred on household items but no alerts or amount outstanding. Are spending (and related cashbacks) updated on weekdays only?

QUOTE(fruitie @ May 28 2016, 04:05 PM) Did you request Maybank for SMS trigger? It doesn't come by default, you will need to request by calling CS. received an alert for usage at rm71 last week. the call center seems to be busy all the time. thing is, on m2u there's no record of my morning spending. hmm... will head to the petrol station later and see if it gets updated.

QUOTE(fruitie @ May 28 2016, 06:38 PM) If you don't request, the SMS trigger is by random. Maybank CS is considered one of the best, you haven't tried others yet. Wah, why do you want it to be posted immediately? It depends on merchants when will they post it. Usually 2-3 days only will appear on unbilled transaction. When you pump petrol, don't be surprised if it will hold your credit limit of RM 200, that's pre-authorized amount and will be added back to your credit limit once actual amount is posted. In that case I'll just wait la... hehe.. I haven't experienced the others (credit card related) but I haven't had any success speaking to a human on the hotline, weekdays or otherwise. Guess I'll try the free phone at the bank or do it over the counter. Why would they randomize sms alerts!? Seesh... This post has been edited by wonglokat: May 28 2016, 07:02 PM

Hey all, after 6 minutes of waiting I finally got through and set the alert to RM1. CS said first transaction will be alerted and the next alert will only come for spending of rm1000 and above.
Thanks fruitie + victorywp!

Online shopping with the CIMB Cash Rebate card applies to certain online stores like Lazada only or any merchant? Purchases on Dell counts?

QUOTE(fruitie @ Jul 5 2016, 05:55 PM) None of the online sites can pay PTPTN with CC for now, if you found any site please inform us. Unlikely will find one if sifus here can't either. But will keep looking for ways to offset the loan interest

QUOTE(fruitie @ Jul 5 2016, 10:16 PM) Well, you can use AEON cards to pay and use PosOnline to pay AEON credit card. Then use online transactions cards to pay and get at least 3% cash back. Or just pay using any cards and BT. dang, this is good!! thanks! and BT is what? This post has been edited by wonglokat: Jul 6 2016, 07:21 AM

QUOTE(deity01 @ Jul 11 2016, 04:51 PM) go to the PTPTN branch, now they hv branches that are located in shopping mall, especially Giant, u can use CC to pay there. once again, if you found anyway we can pay PTPTN online, please do inform us..thank you Will do. Thing is, direct transaction with PTPTN will not be eligible for rebates / goodies. Not anymore with Maybank and I don't think CIMB will too. And so, the quest for loan rebates continues. Hopefully we find some ways before I finish paying in 4 years This post has been edited by wonglokat: Jul 11 2016, 05:31 PM
