BSn better choice la.

i called up BSN, the  4.75%% is paying monthly.

For every million, you lose RM5700 per year. over long term rugi besar oooo
4.18% is  very poor rate for big money.

Just opened an FD at UOB 4.4%p.a
Have to open savings account if u dun have one.
Account come with IB and ATM card

Btw, there is a charge of RM2.60 to issue cheque when withdrawing. They advice to transfer it to your savings account and IB transfer it out.

Also note that u will earn a little more interest if u open before 29 Feb coz it is a leap year !!!

Do we need to pay for the ATM card?

Hong Leong's Islamic FD effective date only starts after the cheque is cleared, right? I presume the money would be sitting in the CASA before the cheque is cleared. Would Hong Leong give interest for the money in CASA before the cheque is cleared (2 days or longer depending on whether there is any holiday or weekend in between)?

In general, if I deposit a cheque into a CASA, would I get interest only after the cheque is cleared or I would get interest from the date I deposit the cheque?
*
no way. u will not get extra interest. the fd effective 2 days later. that is it. nothing to do with casa.

Employee contribution to EPF will be dropped from 11% to 8%, confirming further Malaysia economy is slowing down. Lowering the contribution portion will directly increase the money supply in the market.....similar objective when BNM lowered the bank reserve ratio. If all these do not help to boost economy activity, BNM will likely look at the open market operation through selling of bonds...next will be reduction in OPR....but still there will be one to two banks offers promo rate for strategic and internal oeratioal reasons but the rate wont be that high anymore...

BSN recently has been unusually advertised in the TV media, last year second half unusually with banner advertisement and now promo rate of 4.5%. In my opinion this is their strategic move and does not reflect the FD rate trend in future.

I locked in 5 years @5% about 8 years ago, interest every 6 mth. Then about 3 years ago, it matured and renewed to 4.75% for 5 years, interest every 6 mths. The so institution is MBSB. I just checked their website, there's no more 5 years FD anymore sad.gif

Now the BSN 5 years FD is the best in the market, interest rate 4.75% p.a. and monthly interim interest.

Wow!! APR (effective interest p.a.) is only 4.354%. You can get better 1 year deals elsewhere.

BNM ought enforce the use of APR to provide consumers with correct choices to make.
