QUOTE(supersound @ Jan 26 2016, 02:30 PM) What I see now is : 1. It has nothing to do with interest rate. It is about bad personal financial management.1. people get sued bankruptcies are higher than last year. 2. Inflation rate are higher due to GST despite economy no good. 3. Laid off and man slaughtering by companies are increasing over the months. 2. It has nothing to do with interest rate, as onset of GST that causing inflation is one off event. It is a cost push inflation, raising interest rate won't able to cool this kind of inflation. Interest rate will be effective to cool down demand pull inflation, which is not the case currently, as demand is slow currently. 3. It will drive BNM into more easing bias, aka lowering interest rate. So there is no case for interest rate to be hiked currently, only got potential rate cut if RM exchange rate become more stablise. |

Inflation rate are greatly affected by interest rate, or BNM's OPR since every business will use this as excuse to increase the price. 3. Well, as said somewhere before, increasing or lowering OPR by BNM will be both 2-edge sword, so maintaining maybe a better option for current condition. |

No, it won't affect much, NPL still near historical low at 1-2% range for most banks, which doesn't cause much a dent for bank with such a level NPL. Last time NPL of 3% seems a norm instead of 1-2% currently. It was as high as above 5% during 97 time. 2. If BNM raise OPR, the cost of doing business will be going up, hence provide business more excuse to raise rate? It will make worst for VSS especially those highly geared O&G sector. 3. Yup, that's why there is no movement of OPR by BNM. |

With this NPL are not important for them, they no need to give offers.2. If BNM raise OPR, the cost of doing business will be going up, hence provide business more excuse to raise rate? Some companies are not giving VSS, O&G companies are not as good like what others seeing. SOme are keep on saying they got VSS as they are butthurt badly, just imagine you are getting rm20000 a month and serving loans, getting laid to rest or getting pay slashed will be a big headache. 3. OPR does not increase and market data bad will cause rm to drop more |

I so freakishly and f**kingly hate Hong Leong Bank counter services. Had FD matured from Maybank last week. Proceeded to HL Bandar Puteri Puchong this morning at 11am. Took a no - 2020. Waited half hour, then decided to go to someone sitting at a desk to ask if I have to fill up a form. Was told I'll have to open a Savings account. Took another no starting with 3xxx, filled up form. This was pretty fast. Took less than 10 mins, then she ask the guard to press a no for FD placement, and was given 2025. I thought 2020 has passed. In the end, it was still 2015. WTF! Basically, waited from 11am to 1205pm, and still the no did not move at all from 2015. I then left.
At 2:47pm, went to HL near Puchong Prima (I think), got a no 2033 and currently serving 2026. I thought only 7 nos behind me. Waited 25 mins, and it was still 2026. WTF! Imagine 7 nos x 25 mins, how long do I have to wait for 2033? AArghhhhhh .... I'm wondering whether the 4.5% is worth the trouble or not. |

QUOTE(supersound @ Jan 26 2016, 02:34 PM) Nope, loan application is still depending on the risk assessment. But with recent BSN comes out with stupid statements, do you still think you can easily get a loan approved? So even with SRR at 0%, it won't help on this situation. So FD with higher interest rate may still remains for this year, can still maintain at 4.5% or more I won't know. So grab whatever good offer just grab, HLB's 4.5% still remains, what does this means? Malaysian has no money liao OT: BSN statement only apply to OIL & GAS staffs. your statement a bit misleading lo.. |

Otherwise, as with most FD promos, counter is the only method. Except for Maybank where I have a RM that does it for me via email. |

Today in BR for another matured FD to get the nego rate 12 mth 4.5% (note nego rate, BR 12 mth board rate 4.1%). This is a lone FD of smaller amount than the ones I got last Thursday. Anyway BR was flexible to allow me to include this FD into the nego "package". Some more I withdraw a few k from that FD for use in CNY. The FD back dated to 25/1, again good for me (as I actually in a way terminated the FD by withdrawing the principal amt).
That is what I like about BR, flexibility. Monthly interest on the dot. Asked the ABM on the CNY hampers, he said they are working on it. Still going to send out to the "loyal" customers. But he "complained" that the Chinese always move their funds when somewhere else has higher FD rate. This post has been edited by bbgoat: Jan 26 2016, 08:13 PM |
