Yesterday went to Affin bank Ampang Point to open FD account for the 4.6%. Once went in feel like government department. All staff like no need to do. Goyang sini goyang sana. Get number and waited for 20min the one and only customer service officer still goyang luar and goyang dalam. After that just left and go to OCBC for their 4.5%. Things done in 20min.
Even OCBC trainee looks better than Affin permanent staff.

Had to top up 10% for the new FD promotion and the officer told the teller to proceed with the FD.
The teller think for a while and then she asked the officer how much is 10% of 20 K ?

sad.gif The teller can't even calculate 10% of 20 K, can she count my interest ????

When I opened FD and SA at RHB, I was informed by bank teller that if I close the SA within 1 year, a penalty fee will be imposed.
Do all other banks stipulate this condition regarding closure of SA?
*
From my experience, sometimes you have to confirm with the bank officer .

Most banks will never let you placed an existing funds at promo rates. You will have to move your money around if you want their promo rates.
*
I managed to retain my FD with the new promo in the past but have to top up 10% or 20% .

Do you have to visit CIMB in order to topup the 10~20%? or there is an alternative way?
*
Yes, you need to go to the bank and talk to the officer. In my case it was Ambank.
Whatsapp the officer a day earlier before the FD mature so that I know the amout need to top up.

QUOTE(gsc @ Dec 31 2015, 12:19 PM)
Fresh fund is defined by most banks money coming in from orher banks. That is the purpose of banks provide promote rate. If you withdrew FD and placed in the same bank but different account. No matter how long it is still not considered as not fresh fund as it is not from other bank.

However some banks,  some officers some mgt level can waive that on the day of maturity with some top up or even the fund was in the bank for sometimes. Some members have that experience and I have done that with HL and public.
*
Had encountered this problem of fresh fund ( IBG from another bank ).
A "no" from the customer service officer but a "yes" from the counter officer.
Told them to settle the problem among themselves or I will walk out to another bank next few doors away.

Finally, IBG within 3 days are consider as fresh fund.

Called to AmBank ABM to enquire on their FD promo for Jan 2016. She quoted me the below:

6 mth 4.08%
1 yr 4.18%

min 20k.

That is not a good rate ! So AmBank has collected enough during their last promo of 2 yrs 4.6% ??  hmm.gif
*
sad.gif Yes, not a good rate, expect at least 4.5% for a year or at least 4.2% for 6 months.
Looks like I have to switch bank again, AmBank FD matured early Jan 2016.

OCBC 12 months was 4.5%,
4.15% 9 months is not attractive at all considered that there are 3 months FD at 4.15% as well as 4.5% for 6 months.
*
Looks like Hong leong - 4.5% for 6 months still the best at the moment.

Correct.

I would place these banks in order of highest interests rates offered.
1) Hong Leong - 4.5% for 6 Months

2) RHB - 4.15% for 3 Months

3) CIMB - 4.1% For 3 Months,  4.2% for 6 Months, 4.3% For 1 Year
*
Thank you, looking forward to OCBC, UOB and AMBank promotion.

I called to AmBank ABM yesterday before going for HL 6 mth 4.5%. It seems they may not have the CNY promo for AmBank. She said still the relatively low 12mth  4.18%, 6 mth 4.08% which I mentioned before.

Still not heated up yet for CNY Ang Pow FD promo ?  hmm.gif
*
sad.gif Yes, no new promotion at AmBank. Looks like I have to collect my matured FD from AMBank on Monday and move it to UOB ( 12 mths - 4.4% ).

Just came to mind, to commit another self contribution to EPF next week ! thumbup.gif

Getting higher returns than from FD.  biggrin.gif

I think EPF will give a 5.5 - 6 % this round ( the last was 6.75%).

Agreed. Last time they have comparable rate with other banks, but I stayed away from them. This time they looked like the best deal for 1 year. Have enough eggs in HL already (still admire the 1 cert of some big boss here  tongue.gif ). So considering BSN, UOB and RHB for next week's actions !  biggrin.gif
*
Closed my BSN account years ago, quite slow staff.
With 4.5% FD, may consider BSN again, maybe different branch. biggrin.gif

If you say over the counter, I would rate the few banks to be very slow in customer service.

1)BSN
2)Bank Muamalat
3)Bank Islam
4)Affin Bank
5)CIMB
*
Agreed with you though I have never try Bank Muamalat.

sad.gif So BSN remains the same all this years ........., thought of going for BSN FD but few hours waiting will push up my blood pressure especially when the staff keeps on talking with each other while working.
