14 dead, 27 injured after ski tour bus veers off cliff in Nagano
NATIONAL JAN. 15, 2016 - 11:00AM JST ( 14 )TOKYO —
A tour bus carrying 41 people bound for a ski resort veered off a road in Karuizawa, Nagano Prefecture, early Friday morning, leaving 14 people dead and 27 injured.

The number of deaths and injured people was disclosed by Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga at a morning press conference.

The injured were transported to hospitals from the accident site on National Route 18, some two kilometers south of Karuizawa station, according to local firefighters and police.

The bus with 39 passengers and two drivers went off the road at around 2 a.m. while it was en route to a ski resort in northern Nagano Prefecture after leaving Shinjuku in Tokyo on Thursday night. The road was not frozen at the time of the accident, the police said.

The bus with a full load of passengers strayed onto the wrong side of the road and rolled over the guard rail. The vehicle sustained heavy damage and many passengers were trapped underneath, police said.

One of the passengers made an emergency call immediately after the accident, according to the police.

The bus was carrying people on a ski tour package sold by a Tokyo travel agency.

I've rented from Global Advanced Communications on both trips to Tokyo and can confirm they work fine at Enoshima, Kamakura, Hakone as well.

If you're not getting the unlimited one, try to stay off YouTube or you'll be sorry. Don't get the eco/slim types unless you've got an extra power bank around to resuscitate it by afternoon.

I'm using this
https://www.econnectjapan.com/

no problem with the connection, I only take 3G but fast enough for me to do last minute info search while on the train and navi. Last time free come with spare batteries and got discount if bought the plan 3 week earlier...

pick up from post office in KIX.. return in haneda's lawson post box.

Hello all!

I'll be travelling to Tokyo, Japan in February. I wanna ask your opinion on rental of portable wifi. I've read the one recommended in this forum, the Puru Wifi Rental. Anybody got any experience with it? Anybody here would recommend any other brand? I'm looking to rent for 10 days and to pick up and drop off at Narita. I'll be using it mainly to not get lost in Tokyo and Youtube for my children.

i use before global advanced communications and the connections is good even at outskirt area. after surveying few pocket wifi company, i end up choosing this rental company as it's the cheapest among all. plus the delivery is free to airport airport (except haneda) even to hotel/guesthouse except you opt for premium delivery. return also free.

my friend use ninja wifi and she told me it's good as well. i heard alot of good reviews from people renting pupuru wifi. so in the end, is your choice whether which one you prefer smile.gif

For those photographers, don't forget to visit "map camera" @ South western corner of shinjuku Station. This is a heaven for those seeking 2nd hand cameras & lenses. So many choices at reasonanle prices.

You can't find such a huge collection of 2nd hand cameras & lenses anywhere in msia. Within that area, there are also 2 more such establishment but smaller.
