it's not that bad lah. i'm assuming you looking at tokyo metro/train map and confused by all the lines? in the end just pakai google maps or hyperdia to search where you want to go, easy easy only.

You already said earlier that you are flying back from Tokyo mah. So why u kpkb now about transport to Tokyo expensive?!?

I don't see why it is hard to decide, since you have already calculated the cost of each option, and you've identified the other pros & cons like overnight in the bus is tiring.

For me I will take shinkansen because (i) I am an unker who can't really sleep that well on bus (i.e. needs a proper comfortable bed to sleep; and (ii) I am an unker who if don't get proper night's sleep, next day very tired and sleepy one.

RegentCid fuuuuuuuuuu ¥1050?!?!? Upcoming Feb trip I go and eat!!!

I go 2 trips a year, one short and very budget, the other one longer and slightly less budget.

So this upcoming Feb is the short, budget one lol. Flight oso cheap, accommodation all cheap AirBnB and makan budget ¥2500/day

Think around June / July maybe going Aus, or later in the year go driving tour to Iceland. Depends my bonus in Feb up to expectation or not lol.

Word of caution for AirBnB. When searching for an apartment, the AirBnB map show this apartment as being in the left hand side red circle area (very near tsukiji).

After I book liao and got the address and directions, actually is 1.0km walk away in the right hand side red circle!!!

No leh, this one was 'instant book' so I got the exact same unit (same photos and everything), just that the location was quite different

Anyway 15-20mins walk from tsukiji ... ok lah ... consider it as a morning exercise lol.

If you are OK with spending so much time on trains, and OK with touch & go Kansai area, then OK lor. Nara 1d memang enough but 3d Osaka+Kyoto is just skimming the surface.

1d Nagoya also seems like very touch & go but I haven't been there before so I dunno.
