This is how New Chitose Airport Fight Against Snow during Winter time.
If you guys going Hokkaido at Winter. Must give them a salute. They the one making your flight on schedule and safe.

Hi guys... I am thinking of renting the pocket wifi from malaysia for my japan trip.. Or just rent straight from japan

Between these two, which should I choose? Or I should rent it from Japan instead?

Visiondata - RM325 (Unlimited)
WiYo - RM364 (Unlimited)

I recommend you rent from one of the many companies (eConnect, Japan Wireless, Global Advanced Communications, etc) operating there and have them post it to the past office at your arriving airport so that you can use it immediately after clearing immigration.

Icic... Is it really unlimited? I had a look at those and the prices were very close the Malaysia one...

I am travelling with 5 adults altogether although my airbnb does provide one unit, but an additional unit would help in case we split up

Note: this year snowfall throughout Honshu is pathetic thanks to El Niño. Nozawa onsen (where I'm thinking of going in early Feb) normally has 600-700cm of snow by now, but this year cumulative snowfall barely 150cm lol.

For the GAC unit, I believe it is high speed for 1GB/day for the unlimited one. I've subscribed with them twice. Very reliable and their units have never let me down. Don't require my powerbank as their battery could last around 8-10 hours with about 3-4 devices (GAC say max 5, I don't have 5 devices in my travel group) connected in my experience.

Those cheaper/slim units have batteries that can't get you even 6hrs of use. My guess is that your your AirBNB assortment unit will be a slim unit. You might be able to connect only 2-3 devices to it.
