For Hokkaido driving, is this a good route? Any other recommended place i could slot into? (return tickets purchased at CTS)

Chitose -> Noboribetsu(1n) -> Lake Toya(1n) -> Hakodate(1n) -> Otaru(1n) -> Sapporo(3n) -> Chitose

Plan to book a Honda Freed but as per Tocoo it's about 51k all in, sounds quite expensive...

1. i just know it's japanese house architecture thingy, then got tatami, sleep on floor? XD i didn't know what to expect so i am complementing.
i am just thinking if stay ryokan it would be better if it's natural places rather than in town area? i might be wrong on my understanding about ryokan.

2. i explore a bit if around osaka town area 1night rm1K ada, if further a bit like nara maybe rm600 pun ada?
*
Sleeping on the tatami is just one part of the experience. Most ryokan are small and you can enjoy the onsen more as there are less people. Some you can even booked it all to yourself and family or if willing to pay you have an onsen in your room. Besides that you will also be able to enjoy the food they serve. If you just plan to stay in ryokan without the dinner/breakfast, I suggest you just find a normal hotel that has tatami room.

year yours seems cheaper, have anyone tried it, the speed and coverage is good?

I've use it during my last Japan trip in March, quite fast and can be shared among like 6 devices.

Intermittently need to reset it if suddenly found unable to connect. Forgot what was the quota, but our group of 6 keep using daily also didn't have any disruption.
*
thansk bro, the one recommended above is cheaper abit, i think i'll go with the above

3-4 days in Sapporo a bit long. Maybe add another destination - Furano/Biei, Jozankei/Hoheikyo, Niseko also could be good. or Asahikawa/Sounkyou Onsen to head up the ropeways to the mountains. Depends on what you like and what season you're going.

Unfortunately dont know much about ryokan in Osaka. Normally those I go to are quite kampung and on a discount. There is a TV show with website that shows a bargain but mostly on weekdays. Once a while will take a day of work to enjoy with my wife. As for ryokan with private onsen, you might get it with RM1K...but that only per person. If two for two person, its difficult

Thanks. If i am not mistaken, the only nice place to visit at Asahikawa is the zoo?... I am going on Nov, i think won't be able to see anything at Furano/Biei. Will check out the other places you mentioned.

Hi, may i ask which website you book it thru? I was searching via Tocoo and interested in the Honda Freed (bigger for 4 of us with 4 suitcases) and it cost around 51,786yen (with tax and compensation coverage)

how does the free hokkaido express plan work? it actually stated in FAQ that "HEP fee is not included in the total price. Please pay at the outlet when you pick up your car" means we still need to pay for the pass?

is it true that paying tolls by cash is slightly cheaper than by ETS?

I think you should get the insurance.
Coz at least it would cover up in case anything happens.
I m not saying Japan is dangerous or what!? Insurances coverage always "just in case".

I saw some fb posted RM13/day for pocket wifi. Unlimited plan. By Travel Recommends.

Thanks. Based on what I find, I guess the IIJmio sim would be best if I can get the 1GB 30 days one. According to their website can get at Narita airport.  thumbsup.gif

Edit: Just saw JTB Malaysia sells them as well. Maybe tomorrow go check out the JTB booth near my office. laugh.gif
http://jtbmalaysia.com/japantravelsim/
*
For those interested in the IIJmio 1GB for 1 month simcard, JTB sells it at their KL and Shah Alam branches. Currently its RM122 based on current exchange rate.
The guy told me to activate it here in Malaysia with wifi connection, then can use it immediately once you touch down in Japan.

i always wanted to ask ...this applies to other country as well
regarding the immigration slip
there will be a column regarding where u will be staying
so if one booked airbnb, what would u write on that column?
*
I usually fill in the address, sometimes simplified address like which area the unit will be at.
If I am staying in multiple places during my trip and there's a hotel, I'll just put the hotel name and location.

Otherwise, full addresses is fine.

If what is written in Wikipedia is correct, then you shouldn't throw it away. Instead bring it back to the shrine or temple to dispose it. smile.gif

From Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Omamori):

Old amulets are usually returned to the same shrine or temple they were purchased at so they can be disposed of properly. It is most common for amulets to be returned on or slightly after New Year’s. This way the shrine/temple visitor has a fresh start for the New Year with a new omamori.

Throwing an amulet in the trash is also highly discouraged. Old omamori should not be placed in trash with other commonly discarded rubbish, but rather treated with respect. Usually they are burned. Burning the old amulet is meant to be a sign of respect to the deity that helped out the person throughout the year.
*
thanks guess i will just return mine to any shrine on my next trip... hopefully any shrine other than the one that i get my omamori will accept it back din have the plan to go back to the same place again

Well, if it's cheap. Why dont go for it!? Like AXA Smart Traveler VIP coverage. It covers excessive charges.
maybe treat it as backup plan maybe...

Guys who've been to Arashiyama the Bamboo forest scenery is the must but I do know its congested with tourist.

Anybody has met "special time" of the day to go without tourist?

Is it early in the morning or late towards evening?

Hope to hear some advise here.

Car insurance consider cheap.
Wait until you sick in Japan.
Example Fever. See Doctor at Japan due to your are not resident of Japan.
Consultation fees just for fever already RM1500. + Medicine......total easily Rm2000 ++

If you don't have insurance, later car accident......Prepare to pay Rm100k for medical fees
Pay Rm500 and get cover by Insurance or pay RM100k by own?
