Is actually depends to individual

I value my life than working

So i aim for efficiency and go home when after office hours

While lots of my colleague stay back OT even they have little or nothing to do

My sentiment exactly.
Finished work just leave, if can't finish on time means doing too much already.

Ang moh and asian mentality lo. I fly every Friday back home and uncontactable for half of the day, my colleague and HR file complain to my boss. Not a word heard from my boss.

If my boss is ah tiong kind of mindset, I pack bag long time already.

Haha true. Sometimes I believed the people also overworked and hence quality of work dropped. Just go home and reject additional work if you are overloaded.

Can I ask anything that we need to do before we officially moved to Sg to work? Any gov department that I need to report to?

If I have worked in Malaysia for this year, do I need to submit the income tax or my Malaysia company will take care of it?

And when we start to work in Sg, what we need to do for the Malaysian tax? Since I do intend to purchase house for my parents in the next year

Hey peeps,

Just wondering, where is the best place for me to get a laptop?
Is Funan a good place to buy a laptop?
Another thing is, is it cheaper to get one at KL (Lowyat Plaza)? I know the prices these days aren't too far apart..

Looking at the current exchange rate, it will still be a little cheaper to get in KL. Prices in Singapore a tad bit more expensive. Funan is a decent place to get your electronics. Just avoid Sim Lim Square.

Hey, thanks for the reply. When u mentioned cheaper, how much is it in terms of percentage? I just need to compare to see if its worth travelling there to get it. (Time and cost plays a part) haha...

You mean travelling back to KL just to get it? It's going to be a few hundred ringgit cheaper. Not like that much but worth the extra savings if you're so happen in KL.

Hey guys, any idea on how work permit application is done?

I already completed my blood test report, SG company also "claimed" they proceeded to issue work permit on last Monday 7/12 which is also the due date stated inside principle letter.

I searched MOM web and it stated a notification letter will be issue after request issue work permit but today SG company HR told me they need to fax a screen shot to MOM because I was not in SG/holding any Embarkation card. Is this mean they haven't request to issue work permit?

Any professional can advice?

Guys, for someone who has 6 years of working experience in KL, will that be difficult to land a job in SG now? HR field that is.

Should have gone to SG when I was still a fresh grad. Oh well.

If not, I will look for new jobs in China... laugh.gif

It's never too late to take this drastic move. 6 years ago I bit the bullet and swam to small small island.

I wanted to but nobody wants to hire me. cry.gif
I tried submitting my profile via LinkedIn but no favorable replies. Well, to be fair I only chose those international companies. blush.gif

Sg economy is not as rosy as you think.. sure, the exchange rate is good. But you are coming in under some really difficult circumstances.

For one, youll need a work permit, which costs a bomb and your job can be easily filled by a local.

Those of us here are probably cheap labour. And since you are competing with the Indians and Filipinos expect to work doubly hard.

Now combine this with miserable pay and living conditions, it's a guess why anyone wants to come here to slog it out. Haha

I've been searching for jobs back in kl. If one can offer my asking rate, I'll jump. Sg is not fun. No joke.
