100% nvr thought of owning a car in sg

I always take public transport till the new job interview  wink.gif

Really need to do some survey first before buying a car in sg

Pros and cons
*
Company normally provide the car if your job require a car. My work don't require a car but my company paid some portion of it because it make them look good. So regret to give in to the trap. The car has depreciate 30% of its value over the years.

Hi,

Anyone can advise if the job require you to own a car but they do not subsidy and oni pay according to milleage , $0.70 per km. Do you think worth it ?

Take into consideration that you pay for your own car insurance, road tax, hdb parking, wear and tear and maintenance.

The only Pros i can think of,

You are more flexible and can drive back to malaysia hometown anytime.
*
Ask them if can use uber... Worth it if can claim the mileage at 70c.

If you really need own car for personal usage anyway, think the deal is good otherwise the expenses are too heavy

Why so eager? If confirm already apply EP nothing much to worry I think. You can ask, just saying you're still waiting for her reply. But I don't think is much of a problem as you'll need time for the EP to process too.

I don't think so...

I signed after they apply EP for me. But that time just right before the new EP law enforce. Not sure now.

So how much salary you think can afford a car ?

Wat is 30/24 ?

Yeah damn it, just check the sgcarmart, used car oso super exp, somemore all loan cover 50% oni

I cannot opt for taxi claim, becoz this new job required us to standby for emergency , need to react fast, so taxi might not be suitable
Thx for the idea, i check it out

COE alone is around $70k, which mean each month almost $600 goes to COE rclxms.gif

They give me a lump sump for the car in my package. Roughly 40% of the car. Just nice to cover the 50% cash payment.

What happen if a pass holder got retrenched? Do we have like a period where we still can stay in Singapore while looking for a new job?

Once company cancels your EP, it's replaced with a 30days tourist white card, exactly like a tourist.

Haha, I asked ald. And they have sent me the offer letter/contract to sign.
Because I have few days to start working after the EP pass to reply.

Yup, they can apply the EP pass first before they sent the offer letter/contract to sign.

Hi guys, I'm getting an interview at Boon Lay Way. Any advises such as in using 2nd link and busses/mrt routes?

Interview is at 11am, judging from the current traffic condition, how early do you think I should move out? Let's say from Bukit Indah bus stop.

Perhaps its good that the first page to include info such as bus and mrt routes in Sg.

Anyone opened DBS saving account recently? Just wonder if any initial deposit like $500 required? Can we open account using IPA letter? My EP has not been issued yet.

On a related question, I have a CIMB account in Malaysia and would like to apply for a new saving account in Singapore, do I have to put in any deposit in SGD for the SG account? Or can I directly apply a new one and remit directly? (Or can I even skip this step? Since I've already had a CIMB account, not sure if they operate separately or together)

Summary:
1. Have CIMB Malaysia Account
2. Would like to register SG account
3. Do I have to put in deposit in SGD/remit from Malaysia account?
4. Can I skip step 3 if I already had a Malaysia account?

1. Go to CIMB SG branch and open an account (you will need some $$$ in SGD ($1000 ?), EP, Malaysian IC etc) - both MY and SG account are 2 separate accounts.
2. After getting your online code/ password/ dongle - you can link both MY and SG CIMB accounts (or just set MY account as favorite account in the CIMB SG)
3. Transfer money from SG CIMB (SGD) --> to MY CIMB in RM (with CIMB conversion rate - transfer is instantaneous) - never try sending RM --> SG, so I don't know

Deposit is required, however you may withdraw it immediately after you've created a savings account.
