Is Mountbatten a good place to stay? Is it true that 2k salary can get EP?

Possible to get but a bit less likely? 2.2~2.5k should be alright. Many EP salary range not up to the specified 3.3k actually doh.gif

If I am working in Ang Mo Kio Street 64 , anyone can recommend me which area of accommodation are easily accessible to here? or which areas nearby are likely to be more economic and can be reached less than around 15 mins

Thank you so much!

I stay there.

You have a big ass food court, jogging tracks, public swimming pool, national stadium with gym nearby.

Good place as long as its not too far from your workplace.

Along green (east-west) line also a lot of nice mini-towns. Want cheaper then go a bit further East (bedok, tampines) or West (redhill, buona vista).

My advice -- relocate your family to SG, or worst case JB/Johor West. Frankly I don't know a single person who work in SG who can tahan long term every single weekend travel back to KL.

I know someone!!!

But it's almost a year later only I know that he's travelling every weekend back to KL to be with his wife and kids.

The best thing is... Around 9.30pm every Friday he can already be in KL. I wonder how he travels. Not someone I close to so never really asked.

Hi Seniors, want to ask for opinion, is boon lay/bukit batok/chao chu kang a safe area to live in? I went to look for accommodation in Boon Lay/Lakeside/Chinese garden but seems like boon lay has fighter plane noise problem (during day time), while i read bukit batok has rat infestation. Lakeside seems nice but prices are very steep and not many allows cooking:'( should i look elsewhere to rent a room? If yes, which area would you recommend? Greatly appreciate any advice!

PS: will be working in Joo Koon, don't mind 30 mins of travel time to work.

If u work in Joo Koon, better stay along Green line (EW MRT line) eg Boon Lay, Lakeside or Chinese Garden. But from my only experience of traveling to Joo Koon using MRT during morning rush hour, the MRT frequency was every 20 mins vs normal 2-4 mins! I guess it was because MRT has to cater to the crowds heading towards city area during morning peak hours.

If you are a girl, better not choose Pioneer, as there are considerably more Indian nationals and their eyes are always looking at girls, a bit like Malaysia. But I do know many girls who live in Pioneer, so I Guess it's not an issue. Pioneer is just 1 stop away and has a 24 hour foodcourt.

U are right, Lakeside and Chinese Garden rentals are higher, could be because there are more private condos and somewhat closer to city. Boon Lay suffering from Jet Fighter noise? U sure not during afternoon only? This is because SG Jet Fighters will patrol over Jurong Island, especially during noon. Boon Lay is very convenient as there is a shopping centre with 24 hour Fairprice supermarket.

Jurong East is the place where the best shopping Centres in West Singapore are (JEM, Westgate, Big Box and JCube). But the rentals there are quite steep. But I hate that MRT station, always jam packed like sardines.

very sure that even in the morning have fighter plane. i even measured the dB in the place i almost rented:
13th floor (3mins walk from boon lay MRT) ~85dB...(to give a a visualisation, normal background is ~40dB, near air asia jet engine is 66 dB...and fighter plane flying past is 85dB)...on ground floor noise is around 60dB plus...frequency i stood there 30 mins, 9-9:30am...every 4-5 mins will hear once...when i viewed the unit first time, in the afternoon of previous day 40 mins, ~ 2 times...so now i have to go SG again to find houses in bukit batok & phua chu kang oops i meant chao chu kang. Was wondering if anyone stayed before in BB & CCK? Mind sharing experience i.e is it safe and any problems? thanks for sharing your view SG2016, appreciate it!:)

CCK is pretty alright, have fly-by occasionally too but not really that frequent. I think MRT pretty pack during the rush hour, then again which station is not.
