Only if you're planning to buy, then get the Seasonic one. But since you have one lying at your bro's home, then just use that.

Hi guys, would a gold rated 850W PSU be enough for a Core i7 2600K, 1 SSD, 4 x HDDs, 2 optical drives and 1 GTX580?

Also would the same PSU be able to support SLI GTX580?

Yup.It is enough. But if you want to sli GTX580 with i7 2600k OC, you may want to get 1000W PSU for worry free.
The price also not a different too many
850W STRIDER GOLD ( A/M/80+ ) RM699
1000W STRIDER GOLD ( A/M/80+ ) RM799

Are you really sure that PSU has 430W true power? blink.gif Take a photo and let me have a look, just to be sure.
Don't skimp on PSU. Get a reliable one like the Gigabyte PoweRock 390W for RM69 or Gigabyte N400A PSU for RM100.
Cheap PSUs usually don't have protection features like Over Current Protection (OCP) and Over Voltage Protection (OVP).
What AMD card are you talking about?

The FSP Hexa 500W is better as it can supply more power on its 12V rail which is 402W ( if I remember correctly ) compared to the Gigabyte Superb 550W's 360W. In fact, the Gigabyte Superb 550W's true overall power is only 450W. smile.gif

what happened this noon was.. I went to jayacom.. ask for Odin GT, the one price 169.. instead they gave me that Superb 550P insisting that it was Odin GT. Paid 159 an hour later I realized that the PSU was not the one mentioned in this forum. Not even a true power yet they told me it is 80+ Later I went back and demand full refund. sigh....

hmm.gif. Perhaps you should have the name of any items recommended here noted down in your phone using the "notes" feature or something to prevent getting scammed in the future. But if that's really what happened to you, who knows that it might have happened to other users as well.. hmm.gif. This doesn't seem to be very good.

It's a pretty good choice, but if I'm not mistaken its cables aren't sleeved, which might be important to certain users who have aesthetics of an item on their priority list as well. smile.gif

Maybe I was too excited at that time to realized it was not the odin GT... summore they offer me rm10 less... but then I learnt my lesson... lucky for me I search for the model type while still on the road. for them to trick me like this, this will be my last time buying from them.

Dear all, need help from you guys. Recently I bought a 2 TB WD hdd.

After a few weeks of using it, my PC became unstable. It will suddenly restart itself and then once it starts my Windows 7 x64 will boot then goes straight to sleep mode.

This has happened twice and I think it has crashed 2 HDDs so far. I need to know if the following configuration to support the power requirements ...

My current PSU - Coolermaster Extreme Power 450W

Mobo is Gigabyte P45 UD3L.

1. CPU - Intel Quad Q6600 G0 stepping
2. RAM - 4 x 2 GB DDR2 1066 Mhz Kingston HyperX
3. 2 x 5400 RPM 500 GB HDD
4. 1 x 2 TB 7200 Western D
5. Graphic card - low end Nvidia 7600
6. 1 x DVD-RW
7. USB devices - 1 wired mouse, 1 wireless keyboard
8. Built-in sound card

Please let me know if the above configuration is alright or i need to buy a new PSU with higher capacity.

Thanks and regards smile.gif

Since the Silent Pro M600W has 480W on its +12V rails, and two 6870 should consumes about approximately 430W, it should be OK.

Other than the graph posted above, which can be referred to but not for everything since every individual's system component varies, you can always refer to the reviews of any GPU that you're getting or you're using to see how much power they consume on load. Then with the load power of the card measured, you combine it with the rest of your system components ( estimation ) and find a suitable power supply. In this case, yes, the Cooler Master Silent Pro M600 will run your system without any problems. The reason on why people buy their power supplies according to the graphics card they're getting is because the GPU is the most power demanding component in a system ( generally ). Otherwise if you're running your system without a discrete graphics card, then you should be able to run it fine with a generic power supply, but that's not recommended.
