For the first build, you could consider the FSP Hexa 500W which costs RM159 from Low Yat Plaza. smile.gif For the second build, a Gigabyte PoweRock 390W that costs RM85 will suffice.

I'll say Seasonic. But FSP is a good PSU too flex.gif it is something like a Rolls-Royce vs Bentley.

Seasonic Silence Pro RM199
FSP Hexa 500W RM159
CM, forget about it.

Durability depends largely on your luck, but in terms of quality Seasonic and FSP produces power supplies that are good or excellent in quality. Unfortunately Cooler Master seems to have forgotten their trade secret in making good power supplies like they used to e.g the Real Power Pro power supply series and now they seem to be churning out power supplies with problems. Until they improve the quality of their power supplies, it's recommended that you avoid some of Cooler Master's product, especially the GX series, the Silent Pro Gold 1200W and the Silent Pro Gold 800W power supply, and the Cooler Master eXtreme Power Plus series ( expensive; not very good in quality ).

No, cause it is cap ayam smile.gif
count the +12V rails, total is around 400W+ only on a 600W PSU.

its too subjective to determine whether cap ayam or branded one will get fire first..well, the chances is still there it depends on your luck and your usage too...a good brand will give u better in terms of warranty coverage and after sale service compared to cap ayam and of course quality (not to mention defect as out of 100 of production surely there will be one, two or maybe more defect products) juz my 2 cents smile.gif

Take that with a spoon of salt.
Reliability is highly depending on your luck.

Your friend definitely does not know much seeing that he could have said such a thing. FSP is a good brand, and a good manufacturer. They make their own power supplies smile.gif. You can always search up for any reviews for the FSP Aurum CM Gold 650W power supply. Most, if not all of their power supplies receives excellent / good ratings. Cooler Master on the other hand does not manufacturer most, if not all of their power supplies. The Cooler Master Silent Pro Gold 600W is also a good power supply though according to the reviews, but if the FSP Aurum CM Gold 650W is just slightly more expensive, or cheaper, then you should go with it as it has a higher overall power capacity, as well as the ability to supply slightly more power on its 12V rails ( 600W versus Silent Pro Gold 576W ). The 12V rail is the most utilized rail in every modern PC system nowadays so this is a very important rail.

For any reliability concerns, it actually depends a lot on your luck. Every individuals have a different experience with different power supplies. What they experience will not be what you will be experiencing. Of course, the brand matters up to a certain extent too but we're talking about Cooler Master & FSP at the moment, who both offers good power supplies ( some of Cooler Master power supplies are excluded from the statement ). Go with whichever power supplies you like as they are both good power supplies. Your priority would definitely be the FSP Aurum CM Gold 650W as it can output more power. But if it's priced a lot higher than the Silent Pro Gold 600W, then you'll know what you should be going for. wink.gif

It will more likely cause random system hangs/freezes, or you might experience blue screen of deaths. As for the downclocking of a graphics card, it's normal in every new graphics card nowadays and it's meant to reduce power usage as well as heat when the graphics load does not require the card to be at its best to run properly.

The HD6850 should run fine with the Cooler Master eXtreme Power (Plus) 500W, although it's not recommended due to its quality problems. The power supply does supply enough power though on its 12V rails for your system so insufficient power shouldn't be the cause.

i was wondering, is it safe connecting the PSU to an extension where the extension will also power the monitor and other things? and is the corsair AX series any good? i noticed its more common in different forums from what I saw.

You can turn your extension upside down and see what is the max input current it can handle. Then with the information gathered, see how much (A) does the input current of your power supply and the rest of the items have. For example, at 230V my Aurum Gold 700 has an input current ampere (A) of 5A or below, and assuming that the extension can only handle a max load of 13A, you have 8A to support the rest of the devices.
