based on their bank rakyat websites, no interest shall be paid or 50% of the interest effective 1 dec 2015.

i have a fixed deposit with bank rakyat, placed around 100k for 2 - 5 years. i plan to withdraw it, do i get interest on it?

Interest is given on every day during the FD tenure including non-working day.
Your 3 month FD placement which is supposedly due on 27 Feb 16 (Sat, non working day) is move to the next business day 29 Feb 16 on purpose.

This is to allow customers is they should to close their FD immediately without any loss of interest.
*
QUOTE(bbgoat @ Dec 5 2015, 08:35 AM)
This actually means they pay interest on non working days AFTER FD matured. They moved the maturity date from Feb 27 to Feb 29. This is the practice of banks that pay the interest after FD matured to working day.  biggrin.gif
I was in Affin last Monday to place the 4.6% FD. I asked about the minimum balance, the staff said depends on the type of SA we have. BSA, senior etc.  biggrin.gif

Thanks so much for the clarification, safilo and bbgoat notworthy.gif

Not really sure myself but this is what I understand.
From http://www.hsbc.com.my/1/2/hsbcadvance/overview, it says there's a RM10 monthly fee if TRB isn't met which is a minimum of 30k in the account.
*
Yes, you need to maintain a minimum of 30k in your account to qualify for fee waiver.
So just open FD with 30k.

See if it's worth your petrol and parking money. For me I prefer 1 month efd. No petrol and parking cost incurred.

Btw, I let you know, I terminated a 3.7% FD  3 months into it at affin to go for their 4.33% FD before.
How would terminating be better than leaving it there? it seems to me you'd have made more if you left it there. Assuming that it was a 1-year term and you are paid half if you terminate, you lose 1.85% if you terminate. You gain 0.63% if you terminate. Why would you give up 1.85% for 0.63%? and then have to wait longer smile.gif
