Hi all,
If I transfer fund online from Bank A to Bank B, then a few days later transfer the fund online back to Bank A, is that considered as fresh fund in Bank A? |

I just opened HSBC Advance Term Deposit -i, 3 months 5%.
Minimum 5k, maximum 30k. There's a monthly fee if balance in account is less than 30k. To get monthly fee waived, just maintain a balance of 30k. |

I need to open RHB SA for FD interest crediting purpose. After the FD matures, can I close the SA or must I leave a minimum balance in the SA?

QUOTE(Anhero @ Dec 4 2015, 10:49 PM) Hi I'm keen to take up a FD account. This will be my first ever. You need to deposit RM10 to open Advance Account. Then proceed to open FD.Would like to confirm, the HSBC Advance FD requires me to open a HSBC Advance Account together with the FD right? Which means two accounts instead of just the FD account which would be the norm for the other banks is that correct? But I just realised in my HSBC FD slip, it's stated Start date 27 Nov 15 Maturity date 29 Feb 16 Term 3 months Does that mean HSBC doesn't pay interest on non-working days? QUOTE(safilo @ Dec 5 2015, 07:27 AM) Interest is given on every day during the FD tenure including non-working day. Your 3 month FD placement which is supposedly due on 27 Feb 16 (Sat, non working day) is move to the next business day 29 Feb 16 on purpose. This is to allow customers is they should to close their FD immediately without any loss of interest. QUOTE(bbgoat @ Dec 5 2015, 08:35 AM) This actually means they pay interest on non working days AFTER FD matured. They moved the maturity date from Feb 27 to Feb 29. This is the practice of banks that pay the interest after FD matured to working day. Thanks so much for the clarification, safilo and bbgoat I was in Affin last Monday to place the 4.6% FD. I asked about the minimum balance, the staff said depends on the type of SA we have. BSA, senior etc. This post has been edited by starry: Dec 5 2015, 11:18 AM |

QUOTE(Anhero @ Dec 5 2015, 12:36 AM) Not really sure myself but this is what I understand. Yes, you need to maintain a minimum of 30k in your account to qualify for fee waiver. From http://www.hsbc.com.my/1/2/hsbcadvance/overview, it says there's a RM10 monthly fee if TRB isn't met which is a minimum of 30k in the account. So just open FD with 30k. |

QUOTE(safilo @ Dec 6 2015, 09:54 AM) From Maybank website on information on GIA FD offering GIA FD T&C GIA FD Product Disclosure Some questions to those who have this type of FD Can this GIA FD be uplift via online? If uplift early, say, after 1 month and 5 days into the tenure, will you still get 1 month and 5 days interest (or hibah) of 4% assuming that 4% is the given rate. TIA QUOTE(MNet @ Dec 6 2015, 02:03 PM) Can't uplift online but you can get 1 month and 5 days 4% full rate interest.I uplifted mine 5 days after I opened the account . Got the 4% interest for 5 days. QUOTE(yygo @ Dec 6 2015, 08:39 PM) did not know the gia-i even pay daily interest on early termination. I was pleasantly surprised when the bank teller gave me the principal + interest. I asked the bank teller, "Huh, 5 days also can get 4% interest?", he replied, "Never mind la, I give you full interest."looking forward to the 6% payout on 11th month. no more talk of maybank effective 5.5%? Yup, I'm waiting anxiously for the effective 5.5% hehe This post has been edited by starry: Dec 6 2015, 08:48 PM |
