QUOTE(SKYjack @ Jul 31 2022, 11:11 AM) Hi Alvin. Congrats on your 408thp. You must have got it at a very good price! How is the car? Any issues? Anyway all issues on this car can be solved, nothing to worry. There are excellent workshops for this car. Spare parts are reasonable although a conti. Hi Skyjack,Many here are old timers and know this car well, so you can ask us any question. My car is on the 11year. Am still enjoying this car, engine & gb are still smooth. Have had a few issues, all fixed. Thanks. I got it for RM18,500 with 126k on the clock. Saw many ads with 50-70k but didn't believe it cos kept seeing the same car (together with same background) in different ads with variable mileage. So when I saw this silver one (of which the colour I wanted) with 126k and superb condition, I took it. Clocked 5k km now. Serviced and changed almost everything, still a few to go. Very happy with this car, now slowly gonna clean the engine trying to get back to 163hp or somewhere near. My immediate worry now is a loud "krekk" sound when cold starting. Happens just once then have to wait for engine to get cold again before it happens again. Changed timing chain set, it disappeared for a while but now it's back. Renautech says it's some circuit valve inside the engine which needs to remove the head to reach. It's like doing top overhaul to reach so I'm thinking of doing top overhaul cos I wanted to clean the carbon on the valves and intake manifold. Might as well, also engine oil consumption is about 1 liter per 2000km. Any opinions on this is very much appreciated. ![]() That's my car. Anybody know where to find that window trim piece? I wanna repair or replace all 4 as they're sticking out and can't be pushed back. I asked a few workshops and they just gave me a blur face (like it's too small a job to do). Thanks in advance. |

Sorry, forgot to ask another thing.
When I accelerate suddenly (not when you modulate the throttle but when you floor it) the engine kinda hesitates, it "coughs" a few times and then only goes. Anybody knows what might be the issue? The turbo intake hose has come off before in the middle of acceleration due to the clip breaking. It's been replaced with a universal clip, not ori. It got loose one time after a long drive and I tightened it myself but after that the problem still persists. I would appreciate it if somebody had this issue before and found the solution could share. Thanks. |

QUOTE(savvy_savvy @ Sep 2 2022, 07:30 AM) (sorry had to remove the shopee link as probation mode doesn't allow me to post it) Hi savvy_savvy,This for the windows trim. Not the acceleration issue. Never change one before. But more and more 408 parts available on shopee and Lazada nowadays. Thanks but that is actually for the front windscreen side trim. I have ordered from Shopee and replaced mine, very easy to DIY. What I'm looking for is the door window bottom trim pieces. I've tried searching everywhere and even asked multiple workshops but can't find it. Appreciate if anybody has replaced them before to fill me in. |

Glad to know there is a club for this car, i just bought 408 1.6thp automatic 2012 recently and this is my first experience driving peugeot cars so im not really sure if below condition is normal for a peugeot cars
1. the clutch wont disangaged after i release the gas when the car is moving, what i remember from other cars it will auto disangaged and will back to angaged right after i hit the pedal again. 2. rattling sound at the front around turbo parts when i hit the gas, even at P and N gear. 3. breaks feels so tight even i tried to gently hit it but still breaking a lot, kinda hard to make a smooth stop using this car. and also i have a few general questions 1. what is the function of winter mode at this car, the button located near the sport mode beside gear lever. 2. is there any recomendation for peugeot specialist near cyberjaya? the one got people really want to hear customer explain everything before doing any checking. |

Probably the turboheat shield. 3. You will get used to it 1. It start from 2nd gear instead of first. 2. No idea. |

QUOTE(akhnsx @ Aug 30 2022, 10:48 PM) Hi Skyjack, Good idea to do walnut blasting on valves at Renautech. The valves must be pretty cocked up at 126KM. Oil consumption is rather high. Anthing more than 1ltr/5Kkm needs workshop inspection. Crankshaft seals tend to leak after while. I just did mine.Thanks. I got it for RM18,500 with 126k on the clock. Hi Skyjack,I too had the "krek" sound, after timing chain change 2 year ago its disappeared. When I had it , it was like just a sec during cold starts. I finally decided to do top overhaul cos the oil leak was quite high (as you mentioned too), I can clean a lot more than just the valves and intake but get new valve seals plus gasket and there were some other issues that needed to take the engine out to solve (flywheel oil seal was leaking). Walnut decarbo was RM700 from Bros Auto and another RM300 for hydrogen cleaning some place else, so might as well spend Rm1900 for top overhaul (from Octane Autoworks). The "krekk" sound became a long whine upon cold start. After checks found that the timing chain was off a bit (about 1 tooth) and had to be retuned to the correct settings, Renautech did not ask me to come back after changing timing chain and driving it around for a while (I sent to Octane and they checked). That long whine sound finally traced to camshaft gear that sits right under the chain. Replaced with a second hand unit (RM330 siap pasang) last week and now no more that spine chilling sound. Now I'm done with all the repairs and enjoying the extra pull after top overhaul. Really recommend anyone with mileage above 100k to do it. Next is downpipe and open pod then upgrade to a bigger intercooler before doing remap. Any recommended place for remap? |

If its not broken, dont try & fix it. This is so true when it comes to 408s air con.
My air con was running well. 2020 there was a compressor & condenser recall. Against my better judgment I decided to get the new units. Mainly because my units at point in time were already 5 years old. Still running without an issue! Damn.....in just 20 months the new compressor is making rattling noise. Am told it will packup in time to come. Update: Last week took the car to air con specialist. Did air con service plus compressor oil refill. Today 20th Oct, the noise has decreased drastically. Will update next week. This post has been edited by SKYjack: Oct 20 2022, 10:10 AM |

Hi everyone, I am currently driving 408 2.0 2016 version
I have encountered 3 times driving half way mati enjin (steering lock) with lights on unable to move. Battery sign light up. Back to normal once restart engine. May I know any possible cause of it? Changed my spark plugs already after occurring the 2nd time. But occurred again. The frequency of happening is around 1-2 months once. Any sifu able to guide which part I should check on? |

QUOTE(Kiddzzzai @ Nov 4 2022, 03:34 PM) Hi everyone, I am currently driving 408 2.0 2016 version There has been complaints of random engine shut down on 408NA. It has been mainly ECU software issue. ECU is responsible for the entire engine operation from startup to shutdown. If warranty over visit Renautech or Bros Auto, they can sort it out. |
