Hi all, need some advice ... my phone magnetic holder (those cheap <30$ with a magnet that phone can attached to) kept falling off after a while .. I've already change to 3M double sided tape but doesnt seem to help as it will fall off after a while ... anyone facing similar issue or have any advice? Or it could be due to my parking (outdoor under sun)?

Thanks

Hi Dovienya,

I suggest not to use any phone holders that sit on the dash as:

1. It falls off all the time (i bought 2 units and it falls off no matter how strong the clip is, maybe it's the surface material used on 408)
2. If it is one of those using rubber clamp or suction, it will melt over time and screw up your dash

What I ended up using is this below:

1. It is secure
2. It does not obscure my vision
3. It is flexible to accommodate vertical or landscape

Hello everybody, my name is Alvin and i just bought a used 408 1.6T this morning. Delivery will be after raya.

Please add me to the membership of this group. It's great to be here. I see that there are 226 pages on this thread, I've read maybe 30-40 pages. So please forgive me if I ask questions which have been answered before on one of the pages. I was wondering:

1. Is there an official Peugeot 408 club?
2. When are you guys going to organize a TT session?

I will share photos of my car once I get it. In the meantime, have a good day.

how's your car after almost a year?

1. It's normal for this car.
2. Probably the turboheat shield.
3. You will get used to it

1. It start from 2nd gear instead of first.
2. No idea.

Thankyou for the response! now i can start to understand how my car behavior.

Just a few weeks ago i decide to do top overhaul at Octane Speedwork because i feels my car is lack of power on the high and low rpm even though she still can reach 170kmh+ with no issue.

After getting top overhaul i can feel big improvement in low rpm, but sunddenly check engine is on everytime the car try to run 150kmh with P0299 error code, from Octane simply suggest me to replace the turbo core and its hard for me to believe that turbo core is the actual problem. My suspect is just becuse some pipe not installed properly.

1. Is there any recommended place to check this kind of issue? And what kind of checking need to be done for it? (i tried to check the diverter valve and the membran still ok)

2. another things i notice after top overhaul is the cooling system is off right after i turn off the engine, because im aware that before overhaul this radiator and blower will keep on for about 30s-1mnt after the engine off, i thought that is normal for engine with turbo. But now the car act differently, which one is normal?

3. Anw this P0299 code cause the car enter limp home mode until getting restart, but the check engine light keep on until some point it will auto off. Until now im not sure how to make the check engine light off. Maybe anyone here can advice how to clear it? i tried to use bluetooth OBD2 reader + Car Scanner app to clear the code but it cant be cleared.

My 1.6THP has had two incidents: one due to a faulty High Pressure Fuel Pump (HPFP) and another one after my car was sent to an automated car wash and collided with the machinery. I didn't drive the car for a week because I was afraid of potential issues, but then the problem disappeared. When I brought the car to the Peugeot Service Center, they found out that my engine mounting had cracked and replaced it under warranty. I'm not sure if my second scenario is applicable to anyone else, but I hope my experience helps.

I think your problems are due to sensor issues. This engine has various sensors, anyone can trigger a message via ECU. I'd suggest a visit to Renautech.

The concept of cooling on this engine is different from the old turbo engine cars. The old turbo eniges run a few sec. on shut down. On this engine the radiator fan will run & turn off based on coolant temp. So if coolant temp has not reached threshold temp. fan will not start. I've had this a few times when I stepped out to get breakfast and back. Nothing to worry. If the fan does not start even after long run then fan relay may be defective.

Yes there were some cases of this issue sometime back. I forget the remedy, if not mistaken i think was related to HPFP.

Indeed. Someone posted the same issue many months back. Hpfp was replaced due to engine misfire and vibration. I have just ordered a low pressure fuel pump. Will install it later and hopefully it just weaken motor pump.

Got the fuel pump replaced. No more lost power symptom and car fire up easily. Tested the old pump seems running strong when not submerge into fuel tank. Suspect clogged filter.

Good value from a buyer's point. There are many parts available online which are very reasonable. Mostly china-made. I have tried a few & found them good. In fact some are even better than original, meaning seems to last longer.

If you buy this car find a good Peugeot mechanic. There are some excellent Peugeot workshops in Klang Valley. Never go to Peugeot Service Center for anything! Many owners make the mistake of solely relying on SC and then complain this car is problematic.

I reckon 5 - 6K additional from purchase is sufficient. The most costly item is the aircon. This aircon needs to be serviced every year if you want it to last.
