I think it should be OK. Unlikely it will affect the motor with few manual turns of the side mirror.
Did you check whether it is still functioning well?

There's an offer for 89k for 2008...I keep hearing bad rumors for Peugeot and VW cars...and also not sure the 89k is a scam or lemon unit car...any idea guys?

Just read the news on latest Civic. Top variant at RM132K excluding insurance.
Err...sad to say 408 e-THP is going to be a white elephant. Good luck to Nasim...i am not too sure whether they can survive with such low volume of sales in the coming 2-3 years.
Nasim please make sure you honour the warranty of my car despite of the poor turnover. Better if you pass on Peugeot & Citroen distributorship to a more capable company.
*
Civic with that price tag is going to clean sweep the market la. I don't see how the 408e is going to survive. Nasim will have to come up with some fierce promo. They should even think off trade in deals to retain current 408 owners.

I've deferred my idea of changing to another car cos of poor RV on my car. If I get a good trade in deal, will certainly go for the 408e.

I hope Nasim reps are reading this. At least this is a pool of customers they can rely on. Many like me are going to change to other makes. Since RV is poor,Nasim can take advantage to retain present customers by offering better value on there car, if we go for the 480e.

I don't think it's a lemon. Peugeots, Fords & VW have had their share of problems with their previous models. Peugeot engines & gearbox have come a long way now and are much more reliable.

However, contis will always require greater attention than Jap or Korean models. In return you get a driving experience that makes it all worth while!

I always think call back is good news. They either want to put right something that is not right, or as you said may be just an inspection.

Take the positive approach, either way, your car comes out with a clean bill of health!

do you guys feel that the steering on the turbo model provide a little too much "feel" of the road? cos what i feel is that the steering rack itself is somewhat loose, so when going on roads that has small little little potholes or those patched up roads, the steering tends to vibrate as a result of hitting those roads that i mentioned which my honda city does not. I did ask SC and they say they don't feel anything and that everything is normal... don't rly trust them, so would like to ask u guys...haha...how a?

One of the criteria when I was looking for a car was steering feedback & feel. I tested 6 cars & decided I liked the feel from the 408t best. It was the most precise of the lot.

I did not appreciate the hollow feel on Jap cars, Korean cars were a bit better. By hollow feel I mean the steering is over assisted by hydraulics, there is virtually no feedback. As there is no feedback, there is no vibration or shock of any kind at the steering wheel. The hydraulics absorbs all. This system is very comfortable but you are actually driving the car based on it's momentum. The cars momentum acts as a feedback for drivers turn coordination & commands. This would be very unsafe for sprited, twisty drives.

It is true, 408thp may be a little too much feel and driver tends to feel all those road irregularities. However this excellent feedback provides higher level of confidence during fast corners, as the feel is much more precise.

This time the SC was on the dot la bro, it is normal smile.gif

I do believe in preventive maintenance. But I doubt additive will sufficiently clean the valves. For our engine a decarbo at 100Kkm would be better. Below are photos on the backside of cylinder head valves.

Photo 1. Carbon build up at 70Kkm,considered not serious. The engine continued to perform as normal.
Photo 2. Carbon cleared after decarbo.

Can share where u guys did the decarbo and how about their services?

Can get below rm1k for the decarbo service?

On another note,

1. I am using a Pug 3008 year 2012. Seems when i start my engine abit of screeching sound. Not sure is it the timing chain or something else. Might bring to Pug specialist sometime next week or before raya.

2. I think my A/C compressor is also giving our some "sounds" sweat.gif . Any of u can share approx how much does a new compressor costs and its labor charges?

Note: The funny thing is all of this happens after i send for parts recall at Peugeot SC in GeotAuto PJ. But no more warranty so might need to have it checked with my Pug Specialist on my own. sweat.gif

Cost of decabo: $380. On your engine I recommend decarbo done every 20kkm.

1. Most probably a pully. Timing chain defects would cause rattling sound.
2. Around $2500

Problem 1 could be caused by careless work during enhancements. Timing chain should have been checked for condition and tensioner changed.

Good idea to check with a pug specialist.

LOL. Although bought my 408 2.0 back in sept 2012, i am going to reach my 100k km mileage in a week or two. Then i would get to celebrate indepency from the aithorised SC and jump ship to the recommended listed centre at first page to do the 100k km service

Anyone else passing that 100k km theshold already? How did one celebrate such a thing? Any idea?
