QUOTE(Moogle Stiltzkin @ Sep 18 2015, 12:35 AM) anyway issues with 30mbps for me is the dl speed is not really 30mbps. i my own tests i'm getting under 5mbps, and only in best case scenarios only under 15mbps, which is still markedly slower than the full 30mbps i'm subscribed for. normally you'd be able to expect 70-80% of your subscribed speed, which i'm not even getting, so that is a real problem. Are you testing it using wireless or wired? |

What I did was changing from 802.11b/g mode to 802.11b/g/n in the router and could get over 30Mbps. |

QUOTE(Lynixx @ Sep 18 2015, 09:05 AM) It's best to do your speed test over a wired connection.In my case I can never get a good speed over wireless connection due to many factors affecting wireless. But with cable or using HomePlug, no issues at all. |

using opendns...
![]() ![]() 181ms is quite good. normally i'd expect 200-230ms on a normal day. maybe switching from googledns to opendns is better then ? but the 18mbps falls far too short from 30mbps .... or even a 80% of that.... and i'm pretty sure if i ran the same test late in the evening the speed will drop down to under 5mbps .... Of cos PCIe better a lot.
U can consider this: http://www.asus.com/my/Networking/PCEAC68/ its support dual band and higher speed transfer QUOTE(Duckies @ Sep 18 2015, 10:39 AM) |

QUOTE(anderu @ Sep 17 2015, 11:28 PM) Now after upgrade ANY video streaming sites I tried is so terrible. Luckiest I get is just 480p at YouTube. Mostly 360p or less. Best for you guys to contact TM on this matter. Youtube and parent Google has cache servers in Malaysia & maybe 30/50M users are having issues with the system (Google Global Cache/GGC). As I remember, TM had GGC since a few years back, a good system but probably requires direct and indirect cooperation between consumer, isp & google. Maybe they are still working on it for 30/50 users, or maybe someone in TM overlooked. From forum feedback it looks like not all 30/50 users are affected. Maybe they wanna get 30/50 users a better server, who knows?» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « http://redirector.c.youtube.com/report_mapping ![]() First 3 alphabet of the 'result' will 'usually' be the IATA code of the local area airport. KLIA's being KUL. Remaining numbers probably point to different sets of local servers. If already on a local server, there's probably one or two more things to try, or just raise the issue with TM. *I've seen MXP and BOM (supposedly Italy;India) before, but there were no speed issues during actual playback. Another thing to look at is Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP (DASH), adaptive streaming system which is also used on Youtube. In the past, some found that turning off DASH via extensions on the browser solved speed issues. Previously there was a free extension on Chrome that has the option to turn off this feature, not aware of any free extension that does that now. Other thing that may help based on past experience is changing DNS and experiment with different MTUs. Again, end users shouldn't need to go through these trouble. QUOTE(anderu @ Sep 17 2015, 11:28 PM) I don't fully trust speed test with all those technologies running in the background. Each connection may most likely be "managed" at TM side. Ookla's speedtest give a reliable baseline of what the connection is like. It's adequate but at times, not that accurate...Is it possible to downgrade back to my previous package because the new package can't deliver the same experience as my previous package? » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Probably 30/50M is still in infancy & major works in progress. Pressure TM to expedite. Or dropping RM could mean international traffic just got way too expensive for TM, from a business standpoint. Local traffic shouldn't be an issue since MYIX. Can downgrade, but you must get TM to cooperate or they will shout "penalty fee". CFM & MCMC will be your next move. This post has been edited by andrew9292: Sep 18 2015, 08:19 PM |
