I called TM at 1300888123 (from mobile phone) earlier this month to request upgrade VIP10 to UniFi 30Mbps + Ruby Pack for RM209 via the TM Sales team. I enquired if I can still get the FREE calls to TM fixed line numbers, and was told they can still offer me that.

However, a few days later when I called in to check on my upgrade status, the customer service rep could only tell me there is no more free calls for the UniFi 30Mbps plan.

Yesterday, I made a call to a TM fixed line. Today I logged in to OCC to check my unbilled amount, it still shows RM0.00 for Voice. Will check it again in next few days to double confirm that it is still free.

So I guess, you could still try call 100/1300888123 and speak to TM Sales team to upgrade while retain your FREE calls to TM fixed line.

TM claims they never throttle youtube

Then why speedtest still can get 30mbps but youtube buffering is as slow as a snail?
*
I actually noticed since some time ago that TM actually caches YouTube videos at a server located in JB for faster access. If for some reason you are the first person using TM to play a YouTube video, the video may actually buffer/slow, but reloading it may help speed things up. Possibly it is due to some congestion at the international links I suppose. For popular videos, chances are the video is already cached in JB and hence you should have no problem streaming it at full speed.

How much u paying for 30mbps? Did TM offer you free TM to TM calls?

TM telemarketing called me and offered 30mbps Jumbo pack for RM 219 with TM to TM free calls remains...

So I decided to walk in to TM point to verify this and according to TMpoint staff there is no such thing as TM to TM free calls even if their sales/telemarketing teams calls to offer.

I am really confused with this matter  icon_question.gif
*
If you walk in to TMpoint, you will not get free TM fixed line calls.

Safest is to wait Telemarketing call you to offer for upgrade.
You may also call 100 (or 1300888123 from non-TM phones), talk to TM Sales team and request for upgrade, and ask if they could still give you the free TM fixed line calls.

juz wan to ask, wat de diff if i wan to upgrade from current pacakge(vip5) to 30mbps and signup for new application for 30mbps? no special offer for upgrade rght? and my contract for vip5 already ended early dis year..
*
If upgrade, you receive call, you get to keep the TM fixed line free calls.
If you call TM Sales to request upgrade, remember to ask if you can keep your free calls.
If go TMpoint to upgrade, you lose your free calls.
If you are new customer, confirm no free calls.

What if I upgrade from streamyx(with free calls) to unifi can use the same tactics to keep the free calls?
*
Not sure about that as UniFi phone line is VoIP while Streamyx is PSTN.

Best perhaps you call 100 and enquire.

But I don't want to change a new phone number, hmm

For TM UniFi VoIP, it uses a different series of phone number. So, no choice, but gotta change.

Well, high speed INternet is more important than keeping the phone number right?

anyway issues with 30mbps for me is the dl speed is not really 30mbps. i  my own tests i'm getting under 5mbps, and only in best case scenarios only under 15mbps, which is still markedly slower than the full 30mbps i'm subscribed for. normally you'd be able to expect 70-80% of your subscribed speed, which i'm not even getting, so that is a real problem.
*
Are you testing it using wireless or wired?

heh. last time I've upgraded to 30Mbps I got stuck at 25+/-Mbps. What I did was changing from 802.11b/g mode to 802.11b/g/n in the router and could get over 30Mbps.
*
QUOTE(Lynixx @ Sep 18 2015, 09:05 AM)
is it,cuz i leave all the router settings in default.
*
It's best to do your speed test over a wired connection.

In my case I can never get a good speed over wireless connection due to many factors affecting wireless. But with cable or using HomePlug, no issues at all.

Out of curiosity, what are the factors that affect your wireless network connection?
*
I stay in highrise condo and there are just too many neighboring WiFi access points with quite a number of co-channels at many interfering ones as well.

Although we have between 11 to 13 channels to choose from, only three channels should really be used: 1, 6 & 11 as they don't overlap. Thing is, there are already quite a number of APs on 1, 6 and 11, but worst of all are the interfering ones (overlaps) such as 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, etc... I also suspect the onboard WiFi interface (Qualcomm) of my laptop is partly to be blamed too - seems to be bad compared to laptops I used previously.

Just clicking on the network icon in Windows 10 on my laptop shows more than 10 APs available while inSSIDer reports close to 30 APs in the vicinity.

To top it all, I am using Asus RT-N12HP (With 9dBi high gain antennas), even that already not functioning to the optimum, but it was worse when I used TP-Link WR841ND and prior to that TM's stock router (DIR-615). The Asus gives me much more stable WiFi connectivity but unfortunately due to the surrounding environment, it will not work optimum.

For your info, I now use direct Ethernet cable (wherever possible), otherwise using HomePlug to connect laptops, PCs. Only use WiFi for devices without Ethernet ports such as smartphones.

Just get a 5Ghz capable wireless router for your wireless only devices. It's quite expensive but definitely worth the investment.
*
Will consider doing so in future. At the moment speed is not an important factor for these devices (smartphone). But as long as I can get my 30Mbps on my laptop via cable or HomePlug, that should be good for now smile.gif smile.gif

What number do I call for upgrade from 5mbps to 30mbps? 100? Do they work on Sunday?
*
QUOTE(fruitie @ Sep 19 2015, 10:40 PM)
You can call 100 and they will need someone from sales team to contact you.
Else walking in to the nearest TM Point is the fastest way.
Yes, 5Mbps upload speed.
Well, that one needs special arrangement from the sales team.
*
If you walk in to TMpoint, you will not get your free calls anymore.

Only by calling 100, you may ask for it

guys i want to ask,
can i upgrade my unifi from 5mbps to 30mbps , but i dont want to change the router ??? thats mean no installation , just change directly from the setting? can i??
*
No visit by TM technician/installer is required for upgrading UniFi packages. They just change your account settings in their system. All you need to do is to reboot your router after your upgrade is confirmed.

QUOTE(otakotak @ Sep 20 2015, 10:21 PM)
so how does it feel compared to old 10mb package? did u take it with tv pack?
*
I also switched from VIP10 to UniFi 30Mbps, since 2 weeks ago.

Have not really tried to download from file sharing networks. No difference for normal web surfing due to the way HTTP & TCP works, in addition, the contents are too small to feel the difference.

Speed tests have been ok, constantly getting > 30Mbps download and > 5Mbps upload (do take note on the 5Mbps upload speed for UniFi 30Mbps package), but that is provided I connect via cable or HomePlug, NOT wireless.

for UniFi 30Mbps, you must take up one HyppTV pack, minimum RM30 for Aneka (Malay) OR Varnam (Indian) pack. I took Ruby Pack (Chinese) for RM40.

In your bill, it will be itemized as follows for the Internet access:

UniFi 30 Monthly Fee: RM169

Then in HyppTV Residential section will be itemized your HyppTV pack that you are subscribed for.

So in other words, the UniFi 30Mbps is only RM169 but you cannot subscribe it without a HyppTV pack.

crap... feel like "forced to take" the hypptv.
i dont even have a tv....what a waste. let wait more until i can subscribe without tv then (if that day ever come)
*
I remember reading somewhere that TM may provide that option in the future, but will it ever happen is anybody's guess. Normally those without TV or does not need HyppTV (because they have Astro) will be 'forced' to take either Aneka or Varnam (cheapest at RM30) pack.

QUOTE(lalaland.< @ Sep 21 2015, 12:33 AM)
i also take rubby pack, so far torrent full speed and watch youtube seems smooth but i'm not heavy youtube person, so not sure peak time will affected or not....
*
YouTube depends. Normally if the video is already cached in the local TM server, it should stream optimum at 1080. For those who have the problem of slow streaming at 144 or 240, usually the trick is to manually set to 1080, then reload the web page and normally it will work fine after that. Take note that YouTube streaming works over HTTP -> TCP. TCP has flow control feature that slows down transmission per connection if there is congestion (normally at the international link), hence sometimes it doesn't work well. You can get full torrent speed because the downloading is done via multiple TCP connections.

If it is 30Mbps and 50Mbps, it is excluded or separately automatically.
Not by request.
My mistake for using wrong phrase because when I signed my VIP 5, I said that I don't want any package for hypptv and they just gave me the basic one . BTW, can I terminate the hypptv entirely after 1 year. Do I have any discount for that?
*
You may want to check with their billing department. hmm.gif
Actually I asked this question before and they said cannot, my Internet package will be terminated as well... sweat.gif
I believe the basic ones you mean here are the free channels. The old VIP packages all come with free channels and TM will NOT allow you to unbundle it.

I called 100 twice to try upgrade but the first guy ask me call 100-2-2-4 to ask from customer service (which I realise is actually the same number after closing the phone. So I called in again and the second guy help me to submit a report asking for people from marketing to contact me again, however in the OCC there it shown a report has been closed instead of submitted. Can I not upgrade it directly from 100?
*
I did my upgrade through TM sales, i.e. 100, then 2-2-4 like you did. If wait for telemarketing, it may take a long time..
