Ive never seen the price goes down for graphics card, yes they make powerful newer graphics card, but with price increase.

More and more companies are taking a new approach to market revenue.
As proven by mobile software industry and digital platform like Steam, sometimes reducing the price of your product would yield increase in revenue.

This is a bold move by Nvidia for sure, I hope the trend continues.

also i am guessing my new rig this end of year will use the GTX1070 first (budget constraint) since its touted to be "better" than Titan X

And then later buy TI 1080? brows.gif

Difference is, many don't have a 2k wage in the US. Most have a 1-1.5k wage on average. Why do you think so many students are already having debts up to their eyeballs before they even start working?

Also understand they have different tax rates on products in different states. You think macam GST 6% at every corner of the nation here?

Source: my wife lived in the US for 25 years, worked for 8 years.

If you're talking about minimum wage earners, then yeah. I'm pretty sure they aren't gonna rush out to buy the GTX 1080 or even the 1070 the moment it hits the shelves. However, I'm talking about graduates who are definitely earning more than that once they land a job. Heck, a friend of mine did not manage to complete school but is currently earning ~$50,000/year as a waitress. thumbup.gif

And yes, I do understand that they have different tax rates in different states. I studied and worked in the US too smile.gif

Yet despite offering more performance than dual GTX 980s, the GTX 1080 only demands 180W of power over a single 8-pin power connector.

Maxwell cards can already add +300 - 500 MHz OC no sweat
for Pascal i think even the non-founder's edition can still reach 1.8 - 1.9GHz with ease for sure icon_rolleyes.gif

Worth or not worth really depends on the price and what you use it for. I think you'll get your answer once the reviews and pricing is out.
