Finally got my Fallout 4 updated smile.gif I am more of a 'physical box' person, and it came with just 1 DVD (5GB data) sweat.gif

Hope to get some nice solid performance out of my 970 GPU.

Errr..planning to get gtx 970, should i buy or wait for next year new cards. Advice is needed
*
GTX 970 (used), use to sell close to RM1k last time. Nowadays seem a lot higher. sweat.gif

Next year are the Pascal cards, quite awhile until they are out, and probably cost $$$

Since you are using an old GPU and not really an avid gamer, I say go for it. You will see a nice boost in performance. Should last you awhile for your purposes.

NVIDIA Pascal GPU release date set for April 2016

QUOTE
The general consensus was that AMD would get first dibs at consumers in 2016 with their Polaris line of GPUs, but it turns out that might not be the case with a string of reports popping up over the last 24 hours suggesting that NVIDIA might beat them to the punch.

The reports come not long after AMD announced a substantial price cut to the Radeon R9 Nano to $849, and adds an extra touch of spice for anyone who was preparing for a GPU upgrade to go with their early adoption of VR this year.

Techfrag ran with the supposed leak that NVIDIA would use the Pascal architecture for all of their releases in 2016. Furthermore, the first of those releases will come in April. They’ll also be what’s called “TITAN-grade” products, which is understood to mean a Pascal-equivalent replacement for the current TITAN offerings.

The core series of GPUs, meanwhile, will reportedly be shown off in June. That could mean that NVIDIA will use Computex as the stage to show off the successors to the GTX 950/960/970 series, although whether they’ll be made available in Australia at the same time is another matter entirely.

One fun aspect of all this rumour-mongering is the specs. The GP100 chip, which will be the flagship Pascal GPU, will supposedly sport a staggering 32GB of VRAM. It’ll also be using HBM2, rather than the GDDR5X memory which will be used for the core Pascal GPUs.
...Titan level GPUs hmm.gif

For me, maxed out means 'Full settings' at 1080p, with the lowest AA possible (e.g FXAA - poor man's AA). I am not a 60fps gamer, as long as the game is smooth then its fine.

My rig is turning 6 this March *touch wood* and it still handles GTA V maxed out at 1080p really well (i7 870, 8Gb RAM, GTX 970). Only upgraded GPU -> 460 > 680 > 970 and OC'd the CPU tongue.gif

I wonder how it translates to actual in-game performance. Should be substantially faster than Maxwell.

Pascal = 4k 60fps finally a possibility on a single card for high-end games? hmm.gif

Apparently yes.

TSMC Damaged by Earthquake, Could Impact AMD and NVIDIA GPU production

TSMC, had initially expected semiconductor wafer shipments to be down by less than 1%, but it is now emerging that the drop in shipments could be higher, because the damage to one of its facilities, Fab-14, is worse than originally assessed.

TSMC, in an official communication to its clients, assured that 95% of the foundry machines could return to functionality within 2-3 days after the earthquake. To that effect, machines in Fab-6 and Fab-14B have been fully restored.

But official statement; not bad sweat.gif Reassuring their 'clients'. We'll see...

I wonder if Pascal GeForce GPUs will be officially known as 1000 Series? So it's like... GeForce GTX 1080, GeForce GTX 1070 etc. Weird but alrighty.. This however will be a great time for Nvidia to 'change things up' a bit and discard the next figure of 1000 with perhaps a new name entirely.

QUOTE(destfull @ Feb 23 2016, 08:38 PM)
SOS please. I got around 40-50 fps playing 4k with my Gainward 980ti (slightly overclocked the overclocked card)
*
Hmm... close but if max out 50fps, then still not the magic 60fps. 4k 60fps on a single card still not achievable but upcoming Pascal could change that. Can't wait for the time when this is truly achieved without OC / default clock on a single GPU.

QUOTE(Lurker @ Feb 25 2016, 04:25 AM)
currently on 670 here, what is a suitable 'best bang for the RM' upgrade for me?

GTX 970. I moved from 680 -> 970 and it was quite a vast improvement, what more with a 670.

I got mine for three figures back in the day last year (used GPU, prior to GST and stuff). tongue.gif

Seeing the number of users with issues with 364.47, will hold out awhile.

A little surprised that Nvidia is still offering this driver as an update while many are complaining of BSOD/blank screen and worse, unable to boot into Windows anymore unless via Recovery.

Apparently clean install works, but I'd rather not take the risk.

Lol, there is a newer driver update.

Version: 364.51 BETA

http://www.geforce.com/drivers <-- still gives you 364.47

Edit: Download here https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/92...ce-364-51-beta/

Doesn't show as an available update on GeForce Experience though.

Anyone want to be the tester? tongue.gif

They must have fixed the installation issue with this BETA. Will wait a few more days anyway. I am in no hurry to play any one of those games. tongue.gif Still playing Far Cry Primal and getting average 50~54fps maxed out SMAA on 362.00 drivers.

Best to rollback to 362.00 and stay safe. At least for me.

I have a tendency to update to latest drivers as soon as available (even BETA lol..) Well, no more. sweat.gif

Hahaha... I thought they were going for an all out new name. Not bad the 'new' naming. Never thought about using the roman numerals and seem like a good choice.

Can still be called 'X80' (ex eighty) or '1080' (ten eighty). So next is XI80 ? laugh.gif

The specs for GeForce X80Ti mouth watering. Can't wait to see in-game performance scores.
