Parit waterfall is not a trail..probably a jogging trail...Not really a fall . Water superbly polluted wth pure milo coloured. Robinson fall..~ 80 jogging trail & ~ 20% trail...Not really a jungle trail.. Waterfall nice but water actually from the main Tanah Rata main longkang!

Umm I would like to go hiking but due to my physical limitation ( Obese ) I would like to choose the easy path hiking. Any recommendation? Is hiking to see Rafflesia worth it? How much is it?

QUOTE(Winning11 @ Jul 12 2010, 10:26 PM) ate there last month. food is kinda bland and there's quite number of flies. but hey, it's only RM2, so i'm not complaining. Due to the fertiliser used in abundance ( chicken droppings ) flies are a common sight in CH. The locals are quite used to it. If a few dropped into their coffee, they just picked it up and threw it aside and continue drinking. It is only those shiny looking flies (greenish metallic) that they are afraid off! Tourist are queasy and thats understandable.CH is actually the land of flies and diesel fumes from the landrovers, ha,ha. Any recommendation? Is hiking to see Rafflesia worth it? How much is it? There is another nice trail with river view near Tanah Rata. Look for Century Pines Hotel in front of the Tanah Rata police station. At the side beside a drain or river if you want to call it, walk along it. There's a trail that leads to a public park. Walk across the park and another trail starts, it is well laid out (concrete) and follow the curves as it goes beside the river. After a while there's another right turn and you can choose to either go straight or turn right which leads you to a lookout tower. It is quite rewarding to climb this lookout tower. If you opt to go straight it will lead you to the valley where Jabatan Perhutanan is situated. Here lookout for English gourds that grows wild here and the gourds are free for the picking. In KL they sell for RM1.00 each! The leaves of these gourds are the famed ' loong sou ' or literally Dragon's beard that is fried with sambal belacan in CH. Added on July 22, 2010, 7:21 am QUOTE(Ami Tsun @ Jul 6 2010, 01:52 PM) Might be going on the same weekend. Actually those veges that are sold in plastics are sometimes not a native produce. There are no regular sized carrots grown in CH. They are imported fron China! The jagungs are mixed! There are some genuine ones grown in CH where the quality is really nice and those from the flatlands are actually inferior but sold as native CH produce. For good jagung, always go to stall no.12 in Kea Farm. She has her own farm! But it is not always in stock.Vege price quite standard la, if at Brinchang pasar malam, RM10 one pile, can try to bargain and get extra one Chinese cabbage. At Kea Farm market, pre packed veg at $1 or $2 also have. Or can also drive into Kea Farm and buy from the veg farms. Last time I didn't keep the brocolli in the fridge while still at CH, it turned yellow after 2 days. I later found out from the veg farmer, coz this brocolli is not sprayed with preservative, unlike those imported one - always green. Would recommend buying the organic veg - Buttercup, Romanion lettuce etc, was at 3 for $5 or 7 for $10, from Big Red Strawberry Farm. Er, Fake Jagung?? Plastic ke? Ha ha.. Anyway, in CH there are different pricing for different type and different grades of jagung. Aspharagus are not cultivated in CH but also sold as local produce. The most common vege grown in CH are cabbages, radishes, Sawi, tomatoes, french beans, brocolli. These you can be sure they are from there. Others they are sometimes packed from boxes marked imported from China. ha,ha. The coloured dried flowers are all spray painted. There is one or two farmers who don't use fertiliser but hard to guide you there. Fertilisers are actually quite expensive and some farmers cannot afford them but they grow the best vege! For those who have not been to the Mossy Forest in Camerons, I suggest you try this nature walk. The place looks like a set from Lord Of The Rings and is pretty amazing. One tip though, please don't try to drive there with your own car (kiamsiap) cause if you do not know the roads, sure 'ter-babas' man. The journey takes about 15-20 minutes through the tea plantation roads and after the Mossy Forest, you can go to te viewing tower further down the road there. This is something for those who love nature as well as those looking for a change in scene.
Anyway, I absolutely loved the place as it was something totally different from the usual sights. I did an article on the Mossy Forest so I am just sharing this with all of you. Pictures and information how to get there with contact for guide. Regards, David Ps. Stimix, how are ya? |

There are some stalls next to the tourist office in Tanah Rata but there is mo pasar malam. There is a pasar (wet market) behind the shops.
Some people prefer Tanah Rata for the serenity compared to Brinchang which is quite disorderly. Speaking of tourist office, the one at Tanah Rata is a joke. There is no such thing as free information, everything has to be bought! |
