For those who bought the Hotel Equatorial RM188++ with free meal voucher RM88 deal.

May i know can this RM88 voucher good enough to redeem a buffet breakfast for two person ? or perhaps it is good for buffet breakfast + lunch for two ??

Found the answer here:

http://www.cameronhighlands.com/option,com...10363/catid,10/

Buffet breadfirst spread at the in house Coffee Shop is limited. Same old stuff day in and day out! I wish if they could have alternate between lemak, lotong, mee rebus and mee siam. It seems to be always lemak. At RM30++ for adults and RM20++ for kids. After day ONE, I drove to Brinchang/Tanah Rata for all my meals. Another thing: No lounge nor live band. Not much to do at night!

Stimix,

What is your recommendation for the apartment accommodation of a family of 5 adults in CH based on the following facts?
1) Own Transport
2) Either Tanah Rata or Brinchang or in between.
3) Travel during weekend or school holiday, 3 days 2 nights.
4) Budget = Standard economy seat room/apartment

Good new to all who are looking for cheap and nice food in CH. I'v found the famous RM2 Fu Guang vegetarian restaurant (Green colour signboard) in Brinchang. It is located behind Hotel Chua Gin.

Look for this sample signboard ( Bandar Puteri outlet )

Brinchang is a lousy place to stay - Noisy except some guys here given a high rating to Titiwangsa.

Otherwise you want cheap budget hotel/hostel & guesthouses, go for those in Tanah rata..Lotsa Ang Moh staying there such as father guesthouse, twinpinbe, KRS, Kang, cameronian Inn & etc...price in Tanah Rata & the food are much cheaper than the slaughtering houses at Brinchang

smile.gif Driving up to C.Highlands at night is relatively safe but make sure your car is tip top. I used to drive up via Tapah even after midnight and the Cameronians drive down and up again after their happy hour in Ipoh quite normally.

Don't worry about the jam in Brinchang, the road is jammed only on major holidays and on normal days there are no jams.

One thing though, if you go up during the night, there will be nothing when you reach and you waste a night there and still have to pay an extra night for accomodations. If you start your journey at dawn, you will reach CH in the mornings and also at the right time for checking in. Save one night hotel expenses. The road is safer too and brighter. You spend the dark time travelling on the PLUS highway and by the time you reach the foothills (either Tapah or Simpang Pulai) it already daylight. You also enjoy the same playtime in CH when you start at dawn. hmm.gif

Aiya, maybe travel with GF leh....a lot of "activities" at night ma.

Due to the fertiliser used in abundance ( chicken droppings ) flies are a common sight in CH. The locals are quite used to it. If a few dropped into their coffee, they just picked it up and threw it aside and continue drinking. It is only those shiny looking flies (greenish metallic) that they are afraid off! Tourist are queasy and thats understandable.

CH is actually the land of flies and diesel fumes from the landrovers, ha,ha. biggrin.gif

There is another nice trail with river view near Tanah Rata. Look for Century Pines Hotel in front of the Tanah Rata police station. At the side beside a drain or river if you want to call it, walk along it. There's a trail that leads to a public park. Walk across the park and another trail starts, it is well laid out (concrete) and follow the curves as it goes beside the river. After a while there's another right turn and you can choose to either go straight or turn right which leads you to a lookout tower. It is quite rewarding to climb this lookout tower. If you opt to go straight it will lead you to the valley where Jabatan Perhutanan is situated. Here lookout for English gourds that grows wild here and the gourds are free for the picking. In KL they sell for RM1.00 each! The leaves of these gourds are the famed ' loong sou ' or literally Dragon's beard that is fried with sambal belacan in CH. smile.gif

Actually those veges that are sold in plastics are sometimes not a native produce. There are no regular sized carrots grown in CH. They are imported fron China! The jagungs are mixed! There are some genuine ones grown in CH where the quality is really nice and those from the flatlands are actually inferior but sold as native CH produce. For good jagung, always go to stall no.12 in Kea Farm. She has her own farm! But it is not always in stock.

Aspharagus are not cultivated in CH but also sold as local produce. The most common vege grown in CH are cabbages, radishes, Sawi, tomatoes, french beans, brocolli. These you can be sure they are from there. Others they are sometimes packed from boxes marked imported from China. ha,ha. biggrin.gif

The coloured dried flowers are all spray painted. There is one or two farmers who don't use fertiliser but hard to guide you there. Fertilisers are actually quite expensive and some farmers cannot afford them but they grow the best vege! icon_idea.gif

Wet market? i think you have to drive further to KEA farm..Not sure where is the wet market. But in Tanah rata, there is an alley to the wet market. Only for local & not tourist

Yeah, To avoid not getting slaughter, Don't eat at brinchang & probably only eat at the one recommended by ettige..I hv many-many bad experiences eating at those slaughtering houses at Brinchang  mad.gif

Tanah Rata restaurants are better & reasonable.. smile.gif

I usually buy vege in that pasar in front of Rosapasadena instead of Kea farm.

Slaughter house at Brinchang main road.
