So, what's the outcome of Amway eSpring vs Aquaphor Crystal Eco challenge ? Which water filter emerged as winner?

I went there before noon with hope of catching the challenge live but turned out disappointed as no show to see. Ended up getting one Crystal Eco. smile.gif

Aquaphor indoor filters do not have backwash function

if requested we could also give a 1 year warranty against clogging, if clog then you need to get a ceramic pre-filter and we will replace the clogged cartridge for FREE. Upto date, nobody claim it from us, looking at exsakai's water quality and yet the filter is still performing well, i am now even confident that Aquaphor is suitable for areas with very poor water quality.

If you are looking for a filter that can handle poor water quality without an outdoor filter, i would suggest Aquaphor Crystal Eco and not RO system.

*
Questions regarding your Aquaphor Crystal Eco...

1. what technology it has that prevents clogging without outdoor filters?

2. without outdoor filter you can guarantee by 1-to-1 replacement that no clogging will occurs?

3. may i have the TDS readings (before and after)? users also contribute please.

4. I was told that initial setup is RM1699, replacement filter is RM450, both with 8000L capacity, what contributes to the vast different between initial and replacement cost?

1. First cartridge is 5 micron Carbon Block + Aquaplen that is why it prevents the 0.1 micron membrane from clogging. Most brands first filter is 0.2 - 0.8 that is why they got clogged fast.

AQUALENS provides:

high speed removal of impurities
effective removal of heavy metals from water of any hardness
improved anti-bacterial qualities (due to activated silver)
no "channeling" effect, so no water bypasses the filter (100% filtration)
http://old.aquaphor.com/aqualen

2. Tested many areas such as exsakai. I can let u try as well, if clog, we will just replace the clogged filters free.

3. Salesman can fake the figures but i snap photo as supporting smile.gif On average tested is 60 - 70.
https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?act=Atta...post&id=7494428

4, There are many filters RM 3 - 4k but replacement RM 500-600, even wider difference. All filter companies only make more profit for new filters, replacement margin is low to make them affordable. R & D, running cost, production and etc etc all accounted as cost of brand new filter.

For under RM200, this is my DIY 3-stage undermount POU. Cheapo standard 10" housing in series as mentioned by Billy boy with first stage RM4 1micron PP sediment filter, 2nd stage ceramic filter (forgot the price but not expensive) and 3rd stage is a good quality NSF certified Dalton carbon filter (I think around Rm40 to Rm50).
Maintenance is super cheap due to standard 10" filter.
I use this set up as my secondary POU point for washing and cooking food in the wet kitchen.
For direct from tap drinking water, I use 3M in the dry kitchen.Attached Image

Thanks for sharing...

Interesting setup you have, where do you buy the housing and respective filters?

Do you have any TDS readings (before and after) for this setup to share?

btw, What level of NSF certification is that Dalton carbon filter?

this is for those want super clean RO water without installing any water filter...

SeaMaster selld 6 x 2.7L RO water bottle for RM6 only, for those who don't mind self collect. Cheras or Balakong i think.

That works out to be only RM0.37/L, i doubt can get that rate if use own RO water filter.

beats the hassle of installing any filters, can ask for delivery i think.

So if your filter can't get below RM0.3/L, guess it's not really worth it.

Wow that must be some direct factory price smile.gif As most small bottle water 600ml already cost RM 1.

Just for comparison, assuming average usage 2500L per year (4 ppl usage)

Crystal Eco Drinking water filter cost per L
Replacement cartridge RM 450 / 2500L = RM 0.18

For high consumption 3000-3500L per year
Cost will be RM 450 / 3500L = RM 0.13

Lets compare total cost for 4 years
Crystal Eco initial cost RM 1699 x 1 year
Replacement cost RM 450 x 3 years
Total = RM 3049

For Bottle water
RM 0.37 x 2500 x 4 years = rm 3700

For normal rate (5.5L tesco water @ RM 4.85) = RM 0.88 per litre
https://eshop.tesco.com.my/groceries/en-GB/...fB0&query=water
RM 0.88 x 2500 x 4 years = RM 8800 .... OMG so big difference...

you forgot to factor in

1. initial purchase cost

2. Outdoor filter cost.

3. clogging cost (1 time clog already not worth it)

Compare 1 year. Lets see.

Can buy from any water filter shop.
No TDS tester. NSF 42 & 53.
If you are looking for cheapest drinking water filtered by NSF certified filters without much initial cost, no harm trying this setup. Convenient and cheap.

Buying bottled water for long term consumption to avoid the initial hardware cost is very unwise (unless it is just for a short period of time) and too inconvenient and costly in the long run after factor in time and travelling cost. Carrying 6 x 2.7L every so often can post a health risk to you and your wife's back too. Silap haribulan, an orthopaedic treatment can easily cost more than one eSpring filter.
