QUOTE(aeiou228 @ Oct 1 2016, 01:24 PM) So, what's the outcome of Amway eSpring vs Aquaphor Crystal Eco challenge ? Which water filter emerged as winner? I went there before noon with hope of catching the challenge live but turned out disappointed as no show to see. Ended up getting one Crystal Eco.

QUOTE(Ch33r @ Nov 1 2017, 11:50 PM) How you know your filter must be replace by yearly? If household less people also need replace by yearly? Or if have a large number of family using the filter, does it need less than one year to change the filter? If not how was the accuracy that the filter really work well? IMO, it is largely depends on the usage, not by number of people in your household. The more you used, the faster the filter cartridge will degrade. If one is overly worried, better get a TDS tester to test the water quality regularly. Example for one Panasonic alkaline water filter model. Panasonic recommends replacing the cartridge approximately after 1 year of usage, assuming 15 liters of water are used a day. If 30 liters are used a day, the cartridge usage limit will be approximately one-half. This post has been edited by iamoracle: Nov 2 2017, 08:04 AM

QUOTE(Ch33r @ Nov 2 2017, 10:26 AM) Ya, what i means is if the usage is large compare to the usage which is small, both aso need to change the filter for 1 year time? If a household usage is large then they change the filter for once a year which it is the limit, then for those small usage household they still need to change once a year even usage of the filter not so frequent? Something like not accurate and wasted. I get what you meant. Ultimately, it depends on the manufacturer and how dirty is the water supply in your area. Like for example, Panasonic recommends replacing it after 1 year if usage is 15 liter per day. If you used that as a guide, you should replace it after 5,475 liter (365 x 15L) usage . You can check your water bill to calculate your household average water consumption per day. Then, you can roughly determine when to change it. Disclaimer: I am not an expert. Best that you seek expert advice from the manufacturer.

Does NSF randomly obtain the filter from retailer when conducting tests?
With all the certifications come to nothing if the manufacturer cut corners during mass production. What they sent for certification can be different from what they had produced for the mass.

QUOTE(aeiou228 @ Mar 29 2018, 01:42 PM) It has pressure release button and metal inserts, good buy. Buy two units for 2-stage filtering, put normal pp cartridge in the 1st stage and good quality 5 micron in the 2nd. If water pressure effected too much, just use one housing. What is the purpose of the metal inserts? How can one prevent mold from growing in the housing if put it under the sun? I have seen it a lot in some houses. QUOTE(aeiou228 @ Jul 2 2018, 10:39 PM) I want to change my Elken bio pure S-250 RO cartridges. The prices for the original are quite pricy at RM577 for 4 cartridges. Sediment + carbon + RO + carbon. Looking for cheaper alternative replacement. I am using Elken Bio Pure Ken2. I was told that not all cartridges need to change yearly. Some every 2 - 3 years. Elken replacement filters are costly. I am wondering if I can re-purpose it as water dispenser to use together with other water filter system such as Aquaphor Crystal Eco. This post has been edited by iamoracle: Jul 3 2018, 01:58 PM

QUOTE(hestati @ Jul 3 2018, 03:36 PM) You should be able to. Please send me the picture of dispenser connector and I will confirm. Normally not an issue to get rid of original filters and connect any other system, just want to check if it is 1/4 or 3/8 Exactly like what aeiou228 has shared.

QUOTE(hestati @ Jul 3 2018, 04:32 PM) Yes, looks like 1/4. Omnipure will definitely be an upgrade. Desal membranes used to be made by GE, but seems like GE sold that division and not sure if they make these membranes in USA anymore, other filters are made in China. So just buy Omnipure+Dow, you will not regret, 100% USA made product (if not fake of course) Got sellers in Lazada selling Omnipure filter cartridge. Not sure whether are they authentic or not.

Need advice. I am using Elken Biopure Ken1. Recently, I noticed that the rejected water tube non-stop dripping water despite the machine not filtering water.
Any idea what is the cause of the problem? Thanks in advance.

QUOTE(hestati @ Jun 16 2021, 09:10 PM) Probably 4-way auto shut off valve got old, not closing the inlet flow. Check it. Unless they use some special one, it is rather cheap to replace. Thanks for your guide. I opened up the casing and noticed rust on the Solenoid Valve. Seems that Solenoid is leaking.
