What is different between indoor drinking water filter  vs water dispenser? Which one more economical and low maintenance cost?

Heard that water dispenser run on electricity, so there's additional cost. Any ideas how to have safe drinking water at economical way?

Ask yourself, do you need hot-cold water function? If yes, then your choice is so called "dispenser" type. If not, then you only need a simple undersink filter.

Anyone here using Joven JP200? Do you still need to boil the water or it is safe to consume the water filtered by this?

Boil, there is nothing there to remove bacteria.

Technically only RO or UV or Heat(aka boil) can kill/remove majority of those bacteria/viruses/microorganism in water. But bear in mind, if you have spare tank in your water filter system (in RO technology), they can grow inside too.

Therefore, those UV tech like eSpring or Heat tech (instant) like LG are good at doing this job.

Exactly, thats is why also RO machine need on-site technician to clean frequently.

If you not clean it for long time, actually you will feel disgusting if you see the inner tank.

LG = Tankless + S/steel inner pipe + Ultra-filtration

All 3 work together to remove and prevent bacteria/viruses from growing

I'm looking to install a water purifier at my new home. Cabinet and sinks are not done yet. I'm wondering what I should prepare if I would like to install a water purifier/dispenser. It seems that LG is frequently mentioned in this thread and it seems that LG Puricare Hot/Cold is suitable for me.
- I'm a little confused about the rental vs purchasing. I've read that LG Puricare does not require servicing. What are the advantages of renting vs purchasing?
- What do I need to keep in mind to install LG Puricare - do I need to drill a hole in the counter top? I'm aware a powerpoint is required for this. Is it possible to not connect the water purifier to the water faucet?
- Do you know when the current promotion ends?

Thank you in advance, for those who are helping to share their experience or thoughts!

Hi there,

Advantages of renting is you have longer warranty and services. Let say you rent for 7 years, then you have 7 years warranty and filter subscription (1 years 2 times LG will send you the filter catridge). LG Puricare doest not required onsite service because they use tankless technology and fully stainless steel piping to enable auto sterilization within the machine. Also because of tankless, the machine is very safe electricity cost.

For outright purchase, you have 1 year of warranty and 2 years of filter catridge subscription.

About installation, assume your water outlet at bottom of counter top, to install nicely, 18mm hole should be drill to look nicely install, installer can install extra joint at bottom so can choose not to connect to your faucet.

Hi mingyew, just want to confirm with you since you seem knowledgeable with LG Puricare.

My agent told me that if I want to have the power cable to go through the hole as well to a power socket below the countertop, 20mm is needed. Is that right?

Can I seal the hole after that with silicone as I will be installing it near the kitchen sink?

Thanks.

Actually if u want power socket hide under the countertop and the hole only 20mm, the power cable need to modify.

Seal silicone is alright.

I'd suggest renting over purchasing, since the overall cost is almost the same.

1. By purchasing, u pay 3200 (machine) + 1360 (5 yrs filter) = 4560; by renting, u pay 60 x 12 x 7 = 5040, pay extra 480 over 7 yrs but since u are not paying lump sum in advance, u lose less IF LG stop giving u good service in the future (I tell my customers that so they protect their own interests, cuz 7 yrs is a long time, no one can guarantee LG gives perfect service all the time, same goes to all other brands)

2. If u want to hide the pipes, drill a 18mm hole on the counter top and the installer will route it under and connect to ur water inlet (usually under top), and u need a power point above the top for the machine

3. Are u talking bout the introductory rental? No news from HQ when it'll end, but if it suit ur needs, get it ASAP, buy earlier enjoy earlier tongue.gif

But there's a risk of voiding the warranty if u modify

Hi Bro,

RM50 is without the cold water function, only hot and ambient water.

Rm60 is with cold water function.

Both is 7 years rental include 7 years warranty and 7 years filter cartridge subscription.

I think your calculation is not correct, as the Self care Plan is RM 320 / year right?

So it should be RM 3,200 + (RM 320 x 5 years) = RM 3,200 + RM 1,600 = RM 4,800

Rental is as per your calculation, comes up to RM 5,040 and the difference of RM 240 can consider as extra warranty, as LG Puricare is warranty for 7 years if taken under the rent-to-own plan.

I have since decided to move from Aquaphor to the LG Puricare due to the following reasons:

1) App Connected and real time monitoring of filter health, with Aquaphor I just change it every year and the filter cost is more expensive compared to the LG.
2) One Touch Self Cleaning initialisation or machine cleans itself every week (at my preset time, can be done using app), there's only one other brand on the market which does this but doesn't have app and is more expensive.
3) Compact dimension, can be place on counter top and flush against the wall ( I got WD516AN in Navy Blue) and looks elegant enough
4) Hot Water Temperature can be selected at 40DegC, 75DegC and 85DegC
5) Tankless Design for both hot and cold, which translates to no microorganism breeding ground + not needing maintenance cleaning.
6) Self Service Filter change, and filter delivered to doorstep at no additional cost.
7) Cost Savings from Energy Saving (No Tank so continuous standby heating or cooling)
8) Filter Send to doorstep at no additional cost
9) Not RO Water and water quality actually tastes better than Aquaphor filter
10) The Auto Up Down feature can be switched off, important as my parents find it annoying
11) Inverter Compressor = very minimal to absolutely no noise when its working
12) Installation done by LG Malaysia Team and Warranty also by LG Malaysia, hassle free.

If you are considering a Hot, Cold or ambient water purifier dispenser, LG is one of the smartest and affordable option available right now.

I just installed mine on 1st Sept 2023 and if you looking for promo, can PM me smile.gif

The app interface looks something like below:

How can LG taste better than Aquaphor when Aquaphor tastes like pure water and LG can match it at best in terms of taste... Now if LG was RO, one could argue that he prefers the taste of one over another, but otherwise it is either false or very dubious claim. These LG "customers" converted into reps biggrin.gif .

I did install Aquaphor from you before bro, and bought replacement filters from you as well. Pls check your PM history with me and you will see.

I still have the removed Aquaphor set to give away should anyone want it.

Some of the issues when using Aquaphor is that we need to keep track of the filter lifespan by ourselves, also like you mentioned the filter does not have UV nor internal sterilisation, unless the filter tubing are replaced often, then the filter tubing and taps can also become breeding ground for microorganism right?

These were some of the concerns which made me change over to LG, and given the overall maintenance cost isn't that much different, plus I get cold water.

The other possibility of taste also comes from filter ageing and LG is newly installed, hence, the filtration of chlorine etc is more effective hence giving a slightly more sweeter taste to the Aquaphor, which to be honest, I forgot to replace for more than a year (anyhow the water flow did not slow down as well on the Aquaphor)

RO water does taste different as my office uses Coway which is RO, anyhow, it's my own opinion.
