My 3 stage 10 inch filter from a local water filter shop, comes with brackets and connections between the filter done. All I need to do was connect the inlet and outlet with 3/4 Inch threaded pipe. First leaks was inlet and outlet. Then came the inner connection.

Yes, this is the issue with these systems. Fittings are usually cheap and prone to leaking. You can change nipples between filters, unless the housing threads are damaged. Gotta see where it is leaking first, are you sure it's fitting between stages or is it housing itself?

Honestly, it depends. Ceramic filters absorb everything "inside", it's like glorified melt blown filter. Problem with ceramic is that even if it stops all bacteria inside (which I really doubt, but ok, let's suppose) then they start growing inside, which can lead to secondary contamination, premature clogging, etc. So not that boiling is 100% required, but I don't believe it's 100% protection from bacteria.

Someone can argue that there is Doulton and it's NSF certified, but it's NSF 42 without any bacteria claims and I don't know any ceramic filter certified in California, where various claims are harder to make.
As for POE, if you can do it, then sure. 10" by 4.5" housing with pleated polyester (not yet available) or melt blown (available). Having 2 pre-filters is probably much easier to install and somewhat cheaper, but yes, no benefits of cleaner water in shower/laundry.

Drop me a PM when you decide between POE vs. pre-filter, maybe I can suggest something.

Hi Hestati,

Then it is really strange. Let's ask the others...

Anyone experienced limestone deposits in their kettle or anywhere else? If yes, then how quickly it happens?
*
You are right, something has gone wrong. My reading was wrong.
So I test again.

Tap water before filter = 45ppm
Filtered water by Culligan EZ-4 = 44ppm

Below picture is the limescale deposit on my water tumbler after 1week usage.

Hello guys,

i have this undersink, first filter is 1 micron, second is 5 micron CTO. at the faucet there connected to 3M water purifier.

i just installed this and ran the water for 20 seconds only, the first filter so fast became dirty, is that normal or my area water condition is extremely bad?

why there is bubble inside ? water pressure not enough? im pretty sure no leaking.

purpose to install this i want cleaner water even for dish washing, and to pro long the life of 3M water purifier. no outdoor filter, condo cannot install also not going to hack wall.

Yea, because CTO more expensive, I put it for chlorine only, so I put 1 micron as first one cheaper cost to replace.

Can you share where did you buy the filters? Are the threads plastic or metal?

Hey guys! I'm currently using 3M AP Easy Complete water filter.
The issue that i'm facing is that the cartridge got to be replaced way too frequent, like 2 mth rather than 6mth-1yr. Each cartridge is not cheap thou. =S

According to the manual, it says whenever the water flow slows down, it has to be replaced. Even the indicator shows 6mths, in fact it's only 2 mths.

Is there a way which I can avoid changing the cartridges so frequent?

Install a pre filter. Spend 60 and some manual plumbing work

This is normal, bubbles can be in the filter itself, can be in the water, they should go away soon.

This filter can last 3-6 months, by the end of it's lifetime you will be scared to look at it.

Congratulations on good and smart setup. How's the pressure? Next time can get 1 or even 0.5 micron CTO, will remove all taste, odor, chlorine, VOCs.

Yes, still very soft, but more reasonable now. And correct, Culligan EZ-4 will not reduce PPM.

Light limescale like that is ok. This is from water drying and leaving whatever salts it had in it. However, this should not happen if you had RO system. Your RO is still 2-4ppm, right?

5 or 1 micron pre-filter. No plumbing, easy install just before 3M.

These 1-stage "all in one miracle" filters ALWAYS require pre-filter, otherwise they do get clogged in just few months.

You house has separate dry kitchen and wet kitchen ? If yes, one filter head in dry kitchen for drinking purposes and another one in wet kitchen for the repurpose retired drinking cartridge for washing and cooking.

Please. Just explain the features and functionality of the filter without the sales tone to comply with the forum's rules.
