What we want from a good water filter is
1) able to remove contaminants that are harmful to our body
2) kills bacteria and viruses

Alkaline water filter do none of the above, expect for making the water to become alkaline.

The first 190 litre of espring filtered water are mild alkaline pH 8.5 due to the carbon, after that it become neutral pH 7.0. Espring water contains mineral (not RO reverse osmosis water).

The easiest way to make your own alkaline water is to put baking soda (cost less than rm3 / packet).

And the best way to remove acidity from our body is through exercise and drinking fruit juices.

Alkaline water is just marketing gimmick, there is no single scientific proof to show it does any good to our body.

For alkaline water filter, they are not focused on filtering the contaminants, but focusing on 'alkaline is good for health'. All alkaline water filters will have a carbon filter to filter the contaminants, however it is a very inefficient carbon filter. Hence it is very bad at removing contaminants, bacteria and viruses.

The technology developed by Amway is different from others. Hence one carbon filter is enough while other makers need few filters, and still not able to filter 140 contaminants.

I do not know in details how it can filter the contaminants other than what I have explained to you, but the important thing is it is proven and certified by NSF (3rd party non-profit organisation) that it can filter the stated 140 contaminants effectively. How the technology was developed? Sorry to say I am not one of the scientists who made it.

This is a very good question, why need 3 or 6 filters if only 1 can do the job?
Many RO or alkaline water system have many filters, but the only real filter that remove contaminants is only 1,and it's rather very small filter. The others filters have other functions like adding minerals, add alkaline levels, ionising and etc...

This is comparison of eSpring cartridge with another X brand Cxxxx filter which used to remove contaminants, the size tells all the stories.
