well what type of travel package? you mean several days or day by day? you can just arrange tour when you show up at the hotel. i advise you to maybe call the hotel you are interested at staying and they should have tours set up.

Thanks for the advice, i think to put them up in Baiyoke near the city center.

well when i go to bkk, i used to stay with my sister, and then i go for work which i stay at sofitel thumbup.gif so yeah my opinion not really counted hahahaha. but from what i know, not many people on this thread stay at baiyoke, and i got friends that stayed and they said its not nice and they prefer the smaller ones. just scroll through the past 10-15 pages and there will be around 2-3 hotels mentioned a lot.

wait for vermins or stimix to reply heheheh.

any recommendation for chinese food/shop in chinatown?

Popular food there r seafood (go there at night). However I have not tried. I usually for the hawker's food. Kuih chap (non halal - mixed of everything) is oso famous there. A teochew food.Is soup type n quite peppery taste. Kuih chap oso available here but u can only find in Kedah or Penang. Yet to see this in KL.Kuih chap is how they prounouce it there & in Malaysia.

Yes..only at nite in chinatown. The stall is right in the middle of the entrance of the lane, which has many other food stalls along it.
Very nice, and lot of thai ppl queuing up to eat too!

Further behind got uncle do the seafood dishes. They have crabs!
user posted image

And steamed fish (most thais prefer deep fried, so its rare to find steam fish other than in chinatown)

And also, do wear long pants. That place is crawling with MOSQUITOES!!!! They had to use the coil and put under out table, and even then, got stung so many times liao.

Yes....that's d one...kuih chap...In Kedah or Penang u can even add duck meat & d soup is not so peppery.

Crab seem to be very popular. Try their Thai chili crab or just baked crab. Oyster seems cheap there too. And one may even try the raw shrimp (yea ...sashimi style) dip with SUPER HOT & SPICY & SOUR THAI CHILI SAUCE)...damn good if they make well. the shrimp taste very sweet & it must be a real fresh one otherwise u may get diarrhea.

I find that Bangkok is cheaper and safer than KL.
Best place to stay if only for shopping is either one of these 2:-
Holiday Inn, 971 Ploenchit Road
or
Pathumwan Princess, which MBK shopping center is connect to.

Save time and money taking taxi or getting stuck in the famous Bangkok jam.

Food glorious food!
The stew pork leg rice is only 25Baht and that is with veg and half an egg!

Yup the crab are big and fresh. The crab meat is firmer and sweet. Had crab the first day in a Chinese restaurant which caters only for the locals as the menu is all in Thai. Good thing I had a local with me or else sure kena slaughter.

Had the Oo Chien thai style. Wow, these oyster are big. Bigger than the ones in Kuching which I thought was big already. As usually we have the Tom Yam and Green Curry. It is amazing how the Thai can get such big prawns and very fresh!
The bill was about 3500Baht for 8 persons including drinks. 3 Beers, soft drinks and free flow of nam (aka drinking water)
Of course we were there for the next 3 consecutive dinners laugh.gif

We went for the Siam Niramit Show, worth every baht. Do go there early and you will want time for photos taking and avoid the traffic jams at that hour.

I hope I haven't bored you guys with the same story of Bangkok.
Maybe a Mod could update the 1st post with places of interest and places to eat?

I'll try to get the address of the crab place.

Was at the Central World/Zen (near Holiday Inn) last night. The side walk eateries next to the end of Central world is one kikass place...fully packed with people, and vendors are selling salted BBQ fish (live wriggling fish on BBQ). Damn fresh, plus claypot hotpot and stuffs. 130Baht for the fish liao... worth every baht spent.

Then outside of Central World, the whole stretch from the giant christmas tree to the alter, are beer drinking...from Tiger, to heinekken to Chang, to Singha...all competing each other for patrons, with live concerts etc. Damn syok... hahahaha...

And there's a new year bash there...dunno if can book hotel there to enjoice.

YEP!!!

even if Dec25 was a normal working day, people still enjoy the festive mood for Christmas on boxing day. (Hooray for commercialism!)

Taken from Central World

Then we walked further for some local food (always eat and travel like the locals tongue.gif ) You can see the Central World altar at the back
