Anyone been to here? http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/travel/article2690954.ece
(Bangkok Museum of Forensic Medicine)

Regarding the arrests in thailand, very sorry to hear that

I've been travelling to thailand everymonth since May 2008. And each travel I'd stay there for 3 to 4 weeks in one stretch (max 30 days visa only) and so far never came to such incidents.

The place now is very hot and dry. I would be in Ayudthaya most of the time. Haven't rained since December. Rained once, with small hailstones. Temperature soars to almost 40degC. April, Songkran, can reach to 50degC. Will be there for another month.

Airaisa now has numbered seats, and prior to the free seating, I usually seat alone in the row, but now I find myself seating with other strangers (and no pretty people to chat with *sigh*)

Weekends sometimes we visit bangkok, so my fiance will drive to jatujak BTS station, park there (and their parking is funny, cars are allowed to side park but with HAND BRAKES released, so you can push it front/back if you want to move out of the lot) and takes the BTS to Siam Square/MBK and walk to Siam paragorn. Last sat 7th march they have this awareness program of their indigenous tribes (which all of them came from china long ago!) and the outside square was promoting their local tribal foods, while indoors were their vege produce.

Anyway, who else is going to Thailand for Songkran? I'll be there to get fully soaked, wearing my white T, getting all wet and horny, showing my body and what not. ANyone want to see me get wet? Really wet? laugh.gif

Bangkok is one of the places I like the most.  Your Ringgit Malaysia can stretch a lot more than travelling to countries like HK, USA.....

That one place that I will never miss out is JJ (Chatuchak) Market!!  Even my hubby who just hate shopping like that place.... It has almost everything under the same roof!!!

The next place would definitely be the pratunam area where you get to buy clothings at a bargain....

I am going again for the 3rd to Bangkok next year in January.... Thanks to AirAsia... now that everyone can FLY!!!

Also not forgetting this (which most tourists missed out) is the JJ Mall (jatujak Mall) which is located further on after the stretch of food stalls (where there's this nice pork noodles and a beef noodle stall). The mall has cheaper stuffs (like clothes, belts, wallets, etc) than the stalls outside in JJ. Its cooler too.

For currency exchange rates, i normally refer to http://www.wawasanmoneychanger.com.my/exchangeRates.asp

Jatujak is still ok, just go in the morning.

And don't forget to walk further in into Jatujak Mall, its aircond, and the prices can even be cheaper than outside (like wallets, belts, bags, and bras)

change your money in malaysia. better rate. thailand is expensive for EVERYTHING including exchange rate. only taxi is cheap there.
*
Not really.

locally made products and food are cheaper than locally made products in malaysia.
But their imported ones are expensive. Food can be cheap too, provided you know where to find.

Anyhow, will be in Ayuthaya for the whole month of Sept. rclxms.gif

whats the best way to get to ayuthaya?
*
I seriously have no idea lolz

I was in Ayuthaya BigC, took a bus, 1hour 30min journey ++, ended up in a bus depot somewhere near jatujak, but also dunno exactly where, took a cab to jatujak, then take BTS/Monorail.

Kambing bek... was hell. Took van, cos we dunno which bus to take, from bangkok, to Future Park Rangsit (phahonyotin road). Good thing was, there were two damn hot lenglui sitting next to me, and so sexy too wub.gif

Then from Future Park we took cab to BigC Ayuthaya.

Hehehe the train is better. I took both modes, train ( 2nd class ) and bus. While the train may not be as clean as second class trains in malaysia, it was still more comfortable than travelling by bus. They provide food & water for you to drink, the journey's faster too as opposed to taking the bus.

hahaha true but try going during the off peak season tongue.gif I was there at 930 and things were winding down  rclxms.gif

the train got stop at the erm BigC ayuthaya or not? the place where its after the high tech industrial park? If i'm not wrong, i dont recall seeing a railway track there.. unsure.gif

or maybe u can tell me which part of ayuthaya it stops?

It helps if u got the travel book with english-thai-english translator.

and if possible, get the names of places u wan to go, spelled out in THAI. Not all cab drivers know english or in alphabets ABC.

But sometimes, if you're lucky, some of them can even speak mandrin..lol..which i found out once. Thought this girl was native thai, mana tahu she reply back in mandrin.. hehehehe..which my fren knows how to speak la. (coz i mandrin oso tarak paham..worse sweat.gif )

We got one from MPH. A small little booklet with basic phrases in english to Thai (romanized) and in thai spelling.
So in case u dont know how to pronounce, you can just point and ask (like asking for the taxi, the toilet, etc)
It helps too if u snap pics of items u may need to ask and show on yr phone tongue.gif

anyhow, if you got time, can learn up from this site before going to thai (which i am totally blur in learning new languages)

Try this too: http://www.thai2english.com/#Overview

Popular food there r seafood (go there at night). However I have not tried. I usually  for the hawker's food. Kuih chap (non halal - mixed of everything) is oso famous there. A teochew food.Is soup type n quite peppery taste. Kuih chap oso available here but u can only find in Kedah or Penang. Yet to see this in KL.Kuih chap is how they prounouce it there & in Malaysia.

Kuih chap, so thats what it was called!

Yes..only at nite in chinatown. The stall is right in the middle of the entrance of the lane, which has many other food stalls along it.
Very nice, and lot of thai ppl queuing up to eat too!

Further behind got uncle do the seafood dishes. They have crabs!
user posted image

And steamed fish (most thais prefer deep fried, so its rare to find steam fish other than in chinatown)

And also, do wear long pants. That place is crawling with MOSQUITOES!!!! They had to use the coil and put under out table, and even then, got stung so many times liao.

Yes....that's d one...kuih chap...In Kedah or Penang u can even add duck meat & d soup is not so peppery.

Crab seem to be very popular. Try their Thai chili crab or just baked crab. Oyster seems cheap there too. And one may even try the raw shrimp (yea ...sashimi style) dip with SUPER HOT & SPICY & SOUR THAI CHILI SAUCE)...damn good if they make well. the shrimp taste very sweet & it must be a real fresh one otherwise u may get diarrhea.
*
haha..will try them out.

I'm staying in ayuthaya most of the time throught these 3 weeks...so there got nice seafood places. Big fresh prawns, and even the siham is damn HUGE! HAHA..roasted siham! and fish and big prawns. Cheaper than in Malaysia. flex.gif

Was at the Central World/Zen (near Holiday Inn) last night. The side walk eateries next to the end of Central world is one kikass place...fully packed with people, and vendors are selling salted BBQ fish (live wriggling fish on BBQ). Damn fresh, plus claypot hotpot and stuffs. 130Baht for the fish liao... worth every baht spent.

Then outside of Central World, the whole stretch from the giant christmas tree to the alter, are beer drinking...from Tiger, to heinekken to Chang, to Singha...all competing each other for patrons, with live concerts etc. Damn syok... hahahaha...

And there's a new year bash there...dunno if can book hotel there to enjoice.

even if Dec25 was a normal working day, people still enjoy the festive mood for Christmas on boxing day. (Hooray for commercialism!)

Certain malls/hypermarts like BigC or Tesco Lotus have TOT wifi.

I tried logging in, unsecured, but their website pops up asking me to sign in. Can be prepaid also. But i didnt use their service, coz most of the time my frens house got wifi from CAT telekom, 2.3++Mb average download rate somemore liao.
