Planning to get two units of Daikin Revo cassette aircond 2hp for living and dining area in a double storey house. Two aircond shops I went to ask for price told me no point to get inverter since its open area ie expose to staircase n kitchen. Both shops said I won't get the energy savings effect from inverter. Just wanna ask if that made sense.
*
Yes it does make sense, but depends on the actual area you have, and what temperature you set the a/conds at. If the cold air keeps escaping, or if the temperature you set is too low (and the a/cond cannot reach that set temperature) then the a/cond will be running at full power, and you will not see any savings compared to a normal unit. Does my explanation make sense?

Buy the cheapest standard A/C for infrequent use
Buy the standard inverter if you don’t need any fancy features

I’ve got 4 Hisense A/C. Very pleased with it.

few years ago, i used to have a hitachi, it was perfect in every way, except it emitted a very high pitch sound. does the hisense exhibit this? to my understanding they share manufacturers.

Nope. No high pitch sound from the indoor unit from all 4 of my cheapest standard Hisense model, 1HPx2, 2HP, 2.5HP. Cannot comment on their inverters since I do not own any.

The Hisense-Hitachi JV is more focused on commercial AC not residential split units.

I would recommend shying away from slow selling/less popular AC brands due to lack of spare parts and support down the line. Now the hot selling China brands here is Hisense, Midea, Haier, and the latest kids on the block TCL (I own 3 have not commission into service yet) and AUX.

Gree is the king of residential AC in China, but their residential AC business in Malaysia is almost non-existent today since coming in many moons ago. I wouldn't touch it based on my reasoning above.

If I ever throw my Panasonic inverter out, i'll most likely replace it with Hisense KAGS series + WiFi adapter. Will see, getting Panasonic's authorised service partner to come service it before I give up. It is pissing me off now because no matter what setting I put on the remote it will not cool my room below 27C based on my Xiaomi thermostat and it's hot AF.

I have one in my small room, 1HP.

So far so good, the only complain I have is the compressor is a bit noise compare to my Panasonic, it has that metal bearing vibration noise, and Hisense told me it's normal.

Any comment between Panasonic CS-PU9AKH standard versus Sharp AHX10BED? Both 1hp inverter, 5 stars rating but a couple of hundred price difference. Thanks

Just bought and installed LG-S3-Q12JAPPA 1.5HP aircon

Not sure is good buy or not with everything discount + 5 years warranty @ RM1.9k

So far still learning the AC which ThinQ app kinda limited and less feature than remote controller, lol ..
Actually this range of purchase pricing can recommend which alternate AC eh ? ( 1.5 ~ 2.0 HP )
Think of replacing my other room's AC which has 10 years usage already  sweat.gif
Energy consumption is pain.
*
Not bad the price. I think LG is nice because you can manually turn on the inverter to save power. However this manual inverter mode is only available on the remote. It also log usage by hours which is nicer than Samsung.

On the other hand, I believed LG inverter is rated at 4 stars instead of 5. Power consumption is slightly higher than Samsung which is rated at 5 stars for their premium range. I just double check and it seems like your model is rated 5 stars instead of the JA2PA which I had.

A lot of people are questioning why I didnt choose Japanese brands but honestly my experience with Samsung triangle inverter is pretty good, hence I stay with Samsung and buying another LG to try since I bought them cheap. I even installed a 1.5HP in my living room due to this manual inverter whereby I can lower the power consumption since I will be using them with ceiling fan. Where did you bought them since the price is kinda cheap? I kinda regret didnt bought more to stock because I got my 1.5HP (older model) from Onking warehouse sale which dump them for 1.25k and even with additional 2 years warranty, it still cost less than RM1.5k.

Can't speak for the Panasonic but my room currently using Sharp AHX10BED. The reason I chose this was because of the price, very affordable for 5 star Inverter AC. Been using it for about 7 months now running almost 24/7.

Pro
1. Very good cooling capacity.
2. Very strong and powerful blower for 1HP.
3. Start up around 700w and then once reach desired temp will average about 200w.
4. The indoor unit is huge, which I think is a pro because can spread cool air more widely.
5. Outdoor unit very small, maybe suitable for tight spaces like apartments/condos.

Con
1. Very basic remote control.
2. At 700w, the compressor is very noisy but at 200w, cant hear anything.
3. The indoor unit sometimes makes a weird rattling noise, as if something is loose in it, maybe poor QC?
4. I was told by an AC technician, this particular model uses aluminium fins in the outdoor unit which can rust, not sure if that is true?

aluminum doesnt rust compared to iron, but i think he meant as in corrosion?

cause they arent an alloy, so they arent so resistant to acidic/alkaline or whatever stuff like steel does

Yeah, that makes more sense. He said rust but I was wondering the same thing, aluminium don't rust.
