U mean your pay is like 50% of your RM pay in terms dollar to dollar?

That's my worry too. Looking at my timeline most probably I'll be switching job in 2~4 months after I got my pr status, really no idea how those potential employers will think about that sad.gif (though i am pretty sure many people practiced the same thing too cool2.gif )

That's right.. Don't even think to work in large corporations or MNCs in SG if you did not have a PR status unless you are prepare to work in chinaman firms whereby the bosses squeeze you like hell from day till night and pay you peanuts.

BTW, do you guys work in MNCs or reputable firms in SG on your very 1st job in S'pore or just working in those Pte Ltd firms?

I have look the jobstreet and found out all well-known companies are eligible for Singaporeans or PR to apply only. Sad.... cry.gif

Up to you to believe or not. Note that this is a survey of the SMU graduates themselves. Their responses (ie. how much starting salary they say they got) are not cross-checked with the employers.

Me personally..., I don't believe anyone will pay a fresh graduate S$10,000 a month for a position based locally in Singapore. Not unless he/she is a serious natural talent. After all they are fresh, they don't actually know how to do anything.

SMU graduates get jobs faster, paid higher
ChannelNewsAsia: 11 May 2008 2146 hrs

SINGAPORE: Singapore Management University (SMU) graduates are finding better paying jobs and getting employed sooner, despite the Class of 2007 being 84 percent bigger than the 2006 cohort.

Three-quarters of them found jobs even before graduation, while the remainder secured employment within six months.

Graduates with cum laude degrees, or degrees with distinction, started with an average pay of $3,500 - which is $200 more than what the 2006 cohort got.

69 graduates also landed high-flying jobs that paid between $4,000 and $10,000 a month.

The overall starting pay for the Class of 2007 rose by 6.7 percent to $3,040 from $2,850 for the Class of 2006.

The data are from a survey of 618 respondents.

I am a newbie here.

yeah, I also just settle down over here for months.
is quite good to work over here.

I stay in Serangoon North and work here as well. I walk to work and have my meal about this area. So my expenses is quite low.

Working hour is 8.30 - 6.00 everyday and is allow to have flexible start time ( as long as is not too late )

Rental : $400
Food : $300 ( no special, just eat in company canteen and food court )
Breakfast : $2
Lunch : $3 - $4
Dinner : $3 - $4
Internet + Cellphone : $100 ( vary )
Misc : $200 ( for back up )

I have salary range like u guys...so can save quite much as well. Too bad is a contract job for 1 yr. Don't know how long I can last in singapore. If not it is quite good for a long term.

This is a joke.
With the ranking of Singapore Press Freedom at 154th of the world, you need a real good dose of salt to chew these.

Use the 'search topic' tool at the bottom left of this page. Search for 'flatsdb' and you should find several postings giving links to accomodation search websites.

Then again, the singapore employer oso not easy to cheat. They might ask u are u taking them as a steping stone. Too bad a lot of ppl have done that, so the employer learns. After all they are singaporeans, they learn from their mistakes fast, unlike malaysian firm..

and then get drafted into their national service, performing yours' on a foreign land. irony....

not against working in SG, since its all about the money.

A lot of MNCs now are practising flexibility and transparency across the seas, you can actually work in the MNC locally, after a few years - if you're good, damn good, u get expat (much better pay aint it?). if you're not so good but above average performer, you can ask for a overseas position at a local pay. still not-too-bad. of course, polishing shoes along the way may help do some magic wink.gif

Nope, because you will still not enjoy those Singaporean citizen benefit.

PS: you do not have to serve national services as well if you first generation of PR.
